New thread for the week as old one is almost full

HELLO BRUV

A fab duff duff

Tho why do Grant and Jay think all is fine with Phil. It's obvious he isn't well bless him

Amazing acting By Steve M !!

Many say someone will die this week - I'm saying either Ruby or Reiss

Ruby as Martin needs to be with Stacey and Ruby means 40 !!!

Reiss as fed up with him. It's either jail or death 😂

Stacey and Martin need to get back together. They obviously love each other

Do we really care who hit Cindy over the head - I'm saying Peter

Bianca finally managed to escape. I wish we had a flashback how she managed to get the bag - use the tools in it - escape and get back to the square - all in time to hit reiss with a teapot

If people locked their back doors life would be better for all in the square 😂

Billy and Honey married - do we really care 😂

Linda is sober. Yah !!!

Tommy seems to be ok now living with Zack

Tomorrow is the hour special and a thur the live episode we get every 5yrs or so

How many cock ups will with we have - Must be hard to do live episodes

Been lovely watching the old duff on bbc 4 this week and all the old cast popping in for cameos

Avani's trauma, which is valid and significant, has been compounded by the lack of support she had when returning home. Haven't seen Thursday episode yet.

She has had a moral injury - this includes deep psychological and emotional trauma.

I was a good teen too. I’ve never been inside a police station in my life.

I watched that scene and felt so uncomfortable. I’m 50 years old and would have hated it.
I think her reaction is more realistic than just brushing it off. She’s just a bit rough around the edges

JMSA · 28/03/2025 08:42

I didn’t mean to cause offence. And I wasn’t saying that my reaction is the right one. Just that an upbringing where emotions and trauma are suppressed can affect how you react to things.

If you recognise this then I don't understand why you posted.
It's not something that adds to the discussion.
I found it offensive because your lack of feelings and avoidance don't trump the feelings of others and the horrific injustice.

The thought that children in this country are being targeted because of their colour, humiliated and sexually abused -this is a form of sexual abuse btw -voyeurism, makes me sick to my stomach.
It's utterly heart wrenching

I went to a strict all girls boarding school, showing emotions made you vulnerable to bullying so you didn't show it (it caused no ends of trauma and issues later in life too). But even I can see the injustice and have empathy.

Bunionbabe · 28/03/2025 09:33

I do think everyone on here has a right to express their own opinions and experiences without being rubbished. Finding someone else's opinions 'offensive' isn't a reason to shut them down.

WinterBones · 28/03/2025 09:42

i think the experience would have been humiliating enough, but there was ZERO kindness, or empathy, or attempt to be quick, or explain to Avani what they were doing and why.

Yes they have to be professional, but that doesn't mean police officers can't be kind to minors, especially one who is clearly vulnerable, upset, and scared by what is going on.

Oh, and i loved Ravi and the way that scene with him and Avani and Priya went down. I'm just peeved the writers then sent her out to do what she did.

The issue is the PP applied their own disfunctional emotional regulation issues to say that a young girl shouldn't find being strip searched humiliating because they wouldn't.

In this context its an appalling thing to do-it's not about them, consider starting your own thread if you feel your reactions are not normal.

If you need to preface things with " I hope no one takes offence" then it's usually wise to consider whether to post.
My response was not being " rubbished" it was calling out minimisation of abuse.

This is how inequality, abuse and injustice go under the radar-" its not that bad, I'm not so weak"

I'm not so sure about how I felt about that scene.
To me both Priya and Ravi made it about themselves
"I'm a terrible mother"
" I was strip searched too"

Priya spot on as to why she went on a bender though Sad

Ravi wasn't making it about himself at all, he was sharing a moment where the same happened to him, and how it made him feel, to let her know that she isn't alone, that he understands how she is feeling and what she went through.

Bunionbabe · 28/03/2025 10:08

If someone's upbringing leaves them with a 'dysfunctional' response to others' trauma then surely they deserve empathy too.

Absolutely which is why I suggested posting their own thread for help

No, that’s not what that person said.

I really dislike it when the Thread Police appear.

I really dislike it when professional victims plop onto threads to make it alllll about them, when young black girls and women are the real victims here -disgusting behaviour.

Post whatever you like but don't be surprised if you get called out.

That’s not what that person said, though. Nice try at misrepresenting what they said, but you’re wrong. You didn’t call out anyone. And your phrasing of ‘professional victim’ is really horrible, in this context.

I’m not sure about that scene either, and I certainly didn’t find it a heartwarming moment, seeing Ravi and Priya trying to put on a united front as parents. Ravi is a drug dealer, I can’t remember if Priya deals as well, but she certainly uses. The pair of them are terrible parents and a prime example of cognitive dissonance: horrified at Avani‘s behaviour but seeing nothing wrong with dealing drugs and being shit role models to their children

Yes I thought similar

Ravi isn’t a great role model and must have traumatised Barney

also does Priya still work in minute mart. She doesn’t seem to do a great deal

Nah

This was my take too. I would have liked Avani to call them out on their hypocrisy - though does she know Ravi is a dealer?

lolly792 · 28/03/2025 17:13

She knows her dad dangled Barney by the legs from a bridge…

Thinking about it, we need a reverse scene where Phil finds out about Grant and cries like Grant did. Someone needs to record Sharon talking about it

Jellykat · 28/03/2025 18:36

Fab ideas Blondes and murasaki, scriptwriters take note!! Grin
