New thread for the week as old one is almost full

HELLO BRUV

A fab duff duff

Tho why do Grant and Jay think all is fine with Phil. It's obvious he isn't well bless him

Amazing acting By Steve M !!

Many say someone will die this week - I'm saying either Ruby or Reiss

Ruby as Martin needs to be with Stacey and Ruby means 40 !!!

Reiss as fed up with him. It's either jail or death 😂

Stacey and Martin need to get back together. They obviously love each other

Do we really care who hit Cindy over the head - I'm saying Peter

Bianca finally managed to escape. I wish we had a flashback how she managed to get the bag - use the tools in it - escape and get back to the square - all in time to hit reiss with a teapot

If people locked their back doors life would be better for all in the square 😂

Billy and Honey married - do we really care 😂

Linda is sober. Yah !!!

Tommy seems to be ok now living with Zack

Tomorrow is the hour special and a thur the live episode we get every 5yrs or so

How many cock ups will with we have - Must be hard to do live episodes

Been lovely watching the old duff on bbc 4 this week and all the old cast popping in for cameos

Poor Grant, hes not having a great time in Walford.. rescuing Shazza and Bianca and still getting rebuffed!

Lily is so going to let the cat out of the bag re. Martin loving Stacey

Bingo! Grin

ChonkyRabbit · 27/02/2025 19:51

Ruby deserved that tbh. No reason at all to speak like he only had one child.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/02/2025 19:56

Bless Stacey

That was actually a really good send off for Grant, it had a bit of a final feel to it. He has Mark Jr's number but is waiting, apologised to Phil and patched things up with Bianca.

I knew the PTSD / Army backstory would come up as a plot point, it's been foreshadowed a lot.

I can't see Ross Kemp coming back again at this point unless they kill Phil off, so it was a bit of an open ended goodbye too.

I didn't expect Jean to be the one to tell Lily to shut up.

And Nigel's staying for a bit longer!!
I was actually distracted by the yellow poster behind Sharon and Nigel in the last scene, I thought it said "juniors attic", but it eventually came into focus and I realised it was "unique attire"

ChonkyRabbit · 27/02/2025 20:12

Stacey really should have told the truth there. Not fair on her daughter.

northwestgirl · 27/02/2025 22:20

no, it was kind to Ruby
Lily had been told not to tell, and it was a just about plausible excuse

not that she deserves it...

ChonkyRabbit · 27/02/2025 22:29

It was kind to Ruby and very unkind to Lily, who shouldn't have to lie

Average life expectancy with early onset dementia is 8-12 years. And it’s a terminal illness so he is dying. I think he also referring to the changes that will happen beacause of the illness will erode who he really is

Yes isn’t this what happened with Terry Pratchett?

the80sweregreat · 28/02/2025 09:21

Stacey's lying will end up biting her on the bottom !

the80sweregreat · 28/02/2025 09:33

I bet Grant comes back in ten years time for the Golden anniversary ( if it's still going )

gingercat02 · 28/02/2025 12:08

That was an annoying episode. Ruby bores me, the worst memorial to Martin ever. It should have been pints, football, and banging tunes. He was 40, not .

Lily has always been a brat. Everyone treats her as an adult even though she is only just a teenager (regardless of Charli, she's still a kid)
Why bother lying to Ruby it will all come out in the long run.

Only interesting bit was Shaz/Grant/Phil/Nigel, but I'm glad Grant is gone, Ross Kemp should stick to crap daytime quiz shows and hard man documentaries. Does leave things open for Mark Jr to come back

frenchnoodle · 28/02/2025 12:25

Before the last couple of weeks has Martin ever mentioned football?

Minty, Gary and Mickey all were football mad but I don't think Martin ever mentioned his team at all?

YesImawitch · 28/02/2025 12:28

Ross Kemp acting was awful.
He used to have quite a physical presence and used that to portray Grant walk in, flex muscles, glower but he just doesn't have that anymore.
Steve McFadden is head and shoulders ahead in the acting stakes.
I'm also glad he has gone, I cringed a fair bit.
Yes Ruby to go ASAP!

murasaki · 28/02/2025 12:31

Ross Kemp's acting has been reduced to stomping like a constipated gorilla and staring hard a lot.

Steve McFadden has been brilliant recently, the comparison was embarrassing.

From fictional Spurs fans website
Martin Fowler

The problem with casting children in roles is that they may well grow up to be a rubbish actor (see original Nicky Tilsley from Coronation Street for evidence). So quite often they recast when the actor reaches his teens and take the opportunity to flesh out the character a little.

When the all new Martin Fowler first appeared Eastenders, many Spurs fans choked on their dinner as we saw his bedroom wall plastered with Tottenham posters.

I'm still so upset that Martin has been killed off. He was my favourite character. 😥

the80sweregreat · 28/02/2025 12:43

Ruby
I felt the same when they had Heather killed off.
She was so nice and a pleasant personality.

I read an interview with the actress who played Heather saying her character was killed off as they wanted Shirley to experience grief. Which is a bit unfair.

excelledyourself · 28/02/2025 13:45

I don't remember much of Grant from years gone by, but I didn't like in this comeback. Totally self absorbed. Coming on to Linda in that scene gave me the absolute creeps.

Was glad he was able to make peace with Bianca (for her sake) and the end scene with Nigel was nice, but glad he's gone.

Yes, Gita but she def said Peter. Wish she’d hurry up and bugger off. Why on earth would Ian have ever had her back in his life?? Thought the scenes with Stacey and the kids were very moving. Was Arthur holding Martin’s money belt? So cute and so sad. Thought Jean was excellent with Stacey. Beautiful lines beautifully delivered

She 100% said Gita.

the80sweregreat · 28/02/2025 14:04

Had the subtitles on ( I do for most programmes) and Cindy said Gita.
I remember her mentioning her before too.

Yep. Even without the subs, it was clearly Gita

Redcrayons · 28/02/2025 17:26

How would Cindy still be friends with Gita after she pretended to be dead for years?

Sometimes EE is ridiculous.
