The series is based on a harrowing true story about a number of Irish women who went missing in the late 80s and 90s.

When she writes an article on her mother's murder, the killer resurfaces, hinting at a kidnapping. Lisa and Detective David Burkely (Allen Leech) investigate, connecting the killer to the disappearance of a woman called Amy Reynolds.

I cant work out if this has already been shown on another channel. It was previously called "The Vanishing Triangle".

I am watching but considering switching off. The mumbling makes it really difficult to follow.

StrikeAlways · 06/02/2025 21:42

I’m away on holiday (with bloody bronchitisl, so will check it out when I get home. Regarding the mumbling mentioned by @DJrocks , is it me, or is this sort of problem far too common?

DearestItIsSnowing · 06/02/2025 21:42

Radio Times says it was previously shown on Acorn TV.

IwantToRetire · 07/02/2025 17:59

I didn't watch partly because of comments here but also for some reason episode 2 doesn't seem to be available.

Well not when I checked last night.

I watched it all on demand yesterday. I managed to put subtitles on to help with the mumbling. It’s watchable but the ending is poor in my opinion.

LittleGreenDragons · 08/02/2025 09:06

I set it to tape but I also noticed episode 2 wasn't available. I'm guessing even the schedulers thought it was rubbish Grin Think I'll give the whole thing a miss if they are all mumbling away. It's a shame when that happens.

samlovesdilys · 08/02/2025 17:13

There is a documentary on Netflix on the vanishing triangle, really interesting...

Someone pointed out that episode 1 is longer than others so maybe they merged 1 & 2 into a longer opening episode.

But am keeping it in reserve as it doesn't seem to be getting very good reviews.

I’m watching the first one now, together with my husband. Neither of us are finding any mumbling and we tend to struggle with that in some TV. I am half Irish though and he has a good enough ear for the accent. Could that be the issue for some perhaps?

We both think it’s really good.

DJrocks · 08/02/2025 20:11

The first episode on during the week was definitely a double episode. You’ll watch episode 3 next. There are 6 in the series. 2 too many though.

I didn't thank you when you posted this but you were correct. Finally watched the last two episodes today and I thought it was quite good although I was surprised they killed off one of the main characters.

IwantToRetire · 22/02/2025 18:14

I have only just watched the last two episodes and have to say that it was far better than early posts on this thread suggested! (IMO)

I liked the way it was filmed in a straight forward way no flashy clever, clever, twists and tweaks.

When I first started I thought it must be a remake of an Australian crime series also based on real events, and when realising it wasn't but was about young women innocently trusting someone to give them a lift home after missing the bus, felt really sad.

So would recommend this. Not up there with Blue Lights or Happy Valley but a lot better than some of the slush in the 9pm slot.

As a side issue, wasn't sure about the clothes as being that authentic for the period but then sometimes I thought spot on.

As were the unpleasant bigoted attitudes.

I spent the whole series thinking where have I seen the lead actor before, and after it was over found out it was Downton Abbey.

I'm not going to give away the actual ending but do wonder if that could have happened.

Not even sure this is the right one, but if so also available on Now TV, Apple TV+, Prime Video(?) and something called "JustWatch"

This is the Australian drama series I mentioned which is also based on real life events (sadly).

The production is quite low key, almost like a documentary.

But worth sticking with as it shows how somtimes it takes years or even decades to solve a crime.

Title sounds familiar.

Will have a look, thanks.

Just finished this - so what happened to the original girl who was kidnapped, Amy? Did I miss that bit 🤔?

I don't think we ever found out.

It's inspired the disappearances of these women I think-
Annie McCarrick, Josephine Dullard, Fiona Pender, Ciara Breen, Fiona Sinnott and Deirdre Jacob.

Jackiebrambles · 04/03/2025 14:32

I’ve just finished this, such a bloody weird ending of nothing being resolved. It’s like they missed out an episode!
