I'd almost forgotten about More 4 and happened to see this listed.

Drama based on true events. Three young women go missing from the Perth suburb of Claremont in the mid-90s.

The mystery takes police decades to solve.

It doesn't seem available to watch online - but maybe later.

Also, as I got caught out by this with another series, each episode is 2 hours long.

I didn't read too much as I didn't want to see any spoilers but seems to have had good reviews from when first shown on Acorn TV.

Me too - I mean not only record but seem to find nearly every Australian crime drama worth watching!

I've watched the first episode and think that in trying to be true to actual events, its more like a re-enactment than a fictional drama.

But the story (real life crime) is so disturbing that I will be tuning in for next week's episode.

@IwantToRetire actually I found the first episode rather dis jointed and did not seem to flow very well. I agree that it seemed they were trying to keep it true to facts.

cheekaa · 06/08/2024 00:13

@IwantToRetire yes, I saw High country and loved it. But gave up on Bay of Fires half way.

cheekaa · 06/08/2024 00:14

@IwantToRetire I too plan to watch the second episode.

JemimaTab · 09/08/2024 22:31

I've only watched the first episode, but am enjoying it (if "enjoying" is the right word, given the subject matter). I think it's well done. I wasn't familiar with the case. I'll definitely be watching the rest.
It reminds me a little bit of "The hunt for a killer", which was a Swedish series shown on (I think) BBC a couple of years ago - which was also based on a true (historical) case. In that the focus is on the investigation and the long and frustrating road it took to conclude the case.

IwantToRetire · 10/08/2024 23:49

Have now watched the second episode.

now I know it isn't a "drama" I quite enjoyed in terms of a procedural, and how unexpect connections are made.

So glad I didn't give up on it.

Wont comment on the ending until others say they have got that far.

But real life endings are very different from how writers finish off a series.

Those poor young women and their grieving families.

@IwantToRetire I watched it a few hours ago myself.
It was well made. Don't want to say that I enjoyed watching it, as being a true story I find it difficult to entertain myself with something that caused pain to so many people.

Umanresources · 12/08/2024 21:06

I'm just watching the second episode and yes, "enjoying" it. Some well known actors in it and I can't stop seeing young Sally from Home and Away as one of the bereaved mothers.

RaraRachael · 14/08/2024 17:26

I thought it was good. Nice to see a series of only 2 decent length episodes instead of the usual thing of dragging what should be a 4 parter into 8 parts.

It was funny seeing little Sally from Home and Away playing the mum of one of the victims.

duc748 · 27/08/2024 10:40

I disagree about the format. It took me three sittings to get through the first ep! Especially with advert breaks too. I'd prefer the more usual 45 minute episodes. As with all BOATS TV (based on a true story), I'm always wondering which bits are real, and which are made up. Going to finish off the second ep tonight. I wonder if the guy trailed by the police for all those years got any compo?

duc748 · 28/08/2024 23:57

Just finished it. Pretty good, but I share cheekaa's disquiet. Earlier I wondered why he buried evidence (surely not the best idea?), but I suppose as things turned out, the burial and the flinging in the lake were just fictional guesses.
