Yah it’s back.

Unforgotten

This will be tv paced , as mine always are

as it will be on ITVX as a box set so sure there will be binge threads

No spoilers please 😘

Sinéad Keenan and Sanjeev Bhaskar return for another instalment of the hit ITV crime drama.

The sixth season is set to premiere on ITV1 (and STV in Scotland) on Sunday 9th February at 9pm, with all episodes of the season available to stream on ITVX as a boxset on the same day.

The second episode will then air on Monday 10th February at 9pm, also on ITV1 and STV.

And then back the following sun /mon eve

The new run takes on a brand new case, with Sinéad Keenan and Sanjeev Bhaskar (www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/unforgotten-cast-itv/) reprising their leading roles as DCI Jessica James and DI Sunny Khan, respectively.

While their initial season working together didn't get off to the smoothest of starts, we're sure things will be a little more plain-sailing for Jessie and Sunny as they embark on yet another grisly investigation.

Like previous seasons of the hit ITV drama, we'll once again be thrown into another complicated case that offers up multiple individuals that seemingly don't have a connection but are somehow caught up in the case at hand.

According to the synopsis: "The series begins when suspected human remains are uncovered on Whitney Marsh – Jess and Sunny are immediately called to the scene, abandoning their evening plans to Jess’s husband’s chagrin.

Dr Balcombe’s analysis reveals that the remains are relatively recent and suggest a grim conclusion: the body was placed there already dismembered.

"With this insight, Jess and Sunny intensify their search certain that other body parts may not be far away."

The guest cast for the series includes MyAnna Buring (The Witcher), Elham Elas (Shantaram), Victoria Hamilton (COBRA) and newcomer Max Fairley, as well as Jan Francis (Just Good Friends) and Damien Molony (Brassic (www.radiotimes.com/tv/comedy/brassic-sky-cast/)).

Andrew Lancel (Bolan’s Shoes) is also reprising his role as Jess’s husband Steve, while Kate Robbins (The Couple Next Door (www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/the-couple-next-door-season-2-cast-confirmed-newsupdate/)) returns as Jessie's mother Kate.

Teasing what's to come with their characters, the season 6 synopsis reveals: "As the investigation unfolds, viewers are introduced to a diverse new cast of characters: Melinda Ricci (MyAnna Buring), an outspoken television commentator based in Ireland; Martin 'Marty' Baines (Max Fairley), an autistic man living with his mother Dot in Deal, Kent; Asif Syed (Elham Elas), an Afghan training for his UK citizenship test; and Juliet Cooper (Victoria Hamilton), a history lecturer and faculty head at a London university.

"While these characters live seemingly separate lives, they are intricately connected by their pasts.

It’s up to Jess, Sunny, and their dedicated team to uncover these hidden links and ultimately expose the truth behind the cold case murder."

Agree. I'd put Marty at about 33-35?

The actor that plays him is 26.

butterpuffed · 12/02/2025 15:08

I didn't recognise Michelle Dotrice and then I saw it in here !

There are quite a few separate families, guessing that they're all connected .

It was interesting to see parts of Deal, as I don't live far from there , and recognised some .

I think he's playing the part of a 35yr old very convincingly.

SabreIsMyFave · 13/02/2025 09:01

Watched 3 episodes so far. Really enjoying it, but I'm getting weirdly annoyed by that cop with the dark brown hair having a lollipop stuck in her mouth every time I see her! 😠

😂

She's a bit annoying. And talking about "gammon" as well - not sure if you have seen that bit. I know what she means but it's offensive!

And I think it is his first proper acting role, he's excellent in it.

LindorDoubleChoc · 14/02/2025 00:06

Just plonking myself on the thread. I've only watched episode 1 so far, it seems to be rather clunkily "issue heavy". I hope there's some actual mystery and tension to come.

E3 tonight

Have caught up with the first two episodes . Not sure I have been watching it closely enough and will probably need to rewatch .
I know there are always lots of different strands and stories that eventually interlink , but I am just confused by what is going on .
I will also look at the opening credits for clues as others have suggested .

Re the lecturer, the implication is that she did away with her dp / husband . There are also the clues that the motive was that he may have had an OW . They were also in debt / so money / life assurance may have also been a motive . If he was going to leave her and the child anyway at least if she bumped him off she would be certain of her financial future .

Haven't worked out the timeline , but how long as the daughter been in the private school . It could be that if her ( autistic ) daughter hadn't started at the school that she ( mum) had already found this and had been convinced it would be best for her daughter .

Even if her daughter was already in the school , it may be that she and her DH/ DP had already had the discussion that they were no longer able to meet the fees and she would have to be moved to a state school .

There seems to be a link with the Albanian ( criminal ? ) gangs and she could have paid them / written off their debts / rent in exchange for them killing and disposing of her DH .

I thought it was strange behaviour that she asked to stop the interview at her home to see to her daughter . I think she was buying for time and the detectives picked up on this . Surely if you had just been told this distressing news , you would want to know everything . Her daughter wasn't a baby / very young child that she would need to attend to immediately .
Will keep watching , but not gripped by it .

mum2jakie · 16/02/2025 21:31

It's definitely better than the last series so far but not up to the standard of the Nicola Walker series.

PrincessScarlett · 16/02/2025 21:32

So Jess's husband is still lying to her then.

PrincessScarlett · 16/02/2025 21:39

And yes, Caz with the lollipop is really annoying.

PrincessScarlett · 16/02/2025 21:39

Was that Marty on the CCTV then?

ChonkyRabbit · 16/02/2025 21:46

I think so. The man on the CCTV had Marty's gait.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/02/2025 22:06

Ah. So Marty was the one who didn't get furloughed

Patrick can't have kids naturally tho his wife Melinda looks too old to want /have kids but did look upset at the thought of lack of kids

Love the way the 4 all become connected

Tho obv the wife didn't like the thought of her husband having a gf - no one would lol

We know Gerald was seeing someone. Melinda

Sister did sleep with her husband. Not just a kiss and more than once. But Jess has forgiven sister it seems - prob as been truthful where hubby said it was a kiss

Have to be honest !

So sunny and Leanne. Reminds me of grace and his relationship with the coroner tho maybe she isn't sure

How did Hussain save sam and Asif life ?

We know Gerald wasn't a good landlord and prob why they stopped paying rent

Asif is now linked as he was their interpreter

PrincessScarlett · 16/02/2025 22:32

I'm not sure Jess has forgiven her sister completely but just realises that it's her cheating shit of a husband that she should be angry at.

Is Leanne just not that into Sunny? She's avoiding his calls and he's coming across a bit needy/desperate calling her several times.

I want to believe Asif is a nice guy. The lady in the rentals says he's nice. He's got a nice boyfriend. But he's obviously caught up in something.

I haven't warmed to Juliet at all but I'm so glad she gave that annoying student Liz what for. Not sure it's done her any good though.

Really can't stand Melinda. What's the betting she's pregnant with her reverend lover now poor Patrick can't father children.

ChonkyRabbit · 16/02/2025 22:49

I don't think Melinda and Gerald (? I'm so bad with names, the dead guy) were having an affair, but there's an even murkier connection. It's probably too similar to previous series but I'm wondering if there was some kind of racist attack from the UK United lot on the Afghan family, and that's what Melinda doesn't want coming back to her. She's clearly no longer so convinced about the right-wing views she spouts, and an attack gone too far could certainly shake her up.

Do I remember from episode 1 that Melinda's partner was a soldier? Could be a link between him and the Afghans too.

Marty is the most interesting character to me, so many shades of grey.

Something bad is going to come out about Asif. Probably very bad, because so far he's morally all good and no main character in Unforgotten is all good or all bad.

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 16/02/2025 23:11

Asif is a really complicated character. He will feel that he can’t just pull up the ladder behind him I’m sure. But he has to consider his boyfriend’s situation.

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 16/02/2025 23:12

The actor playing Marty is doing an amazing job.

Did anybody notice in the newspaper article about Melinda that she used to be a nun? I wasn't expecting that!

duc748 · 16/02/2025 23:20

When Asif and Hassan had that convo on the beach, and Asif was telling his story about the crossing, and his brother, you think, Jeez, put yourself in his shoes...
