We've just started watching this. I don't like any of the characters and it's boring. Am I alone in this?
The only interesting bits are spotting the Richmond locations.

Stick with it, it gets better. I loved it, but it's not so great at first.

TheSecondMrsCampbellBlack · 17/01/2025 10:20

It is amazing, I am on my 3rd re-watch. But I think you need to go beyond the pilot really.

user989 · 17/01/2025 10:21

Its wonderful. Funny and uplifting. Stick with it.

Once you've finished then move to Shrinking which is written by Roy Kent - also really good and stars Harrison Ford

Turophilic · 17/01/2025 10:23

Give it a few episodes to bed in.
You’ll love Roy Kent’s growl and Trent from the Independent’s swishy hair before you know it.

InkHeart2024 · 17/01/2025 10:26

I'm with you! It had the vibe of a cheaply made channel 4 soap, like hollyoaks. I did not get it at all.

EveryKneeShallBow · 17/01/2025 11:49

Nope, I didn’t get it either.

TheOtherAgentJohnson · 17/01/2025 11:52

I enjoyed the first series very much, but series two was boring and I gave up on it after that. There was little to no tension after—SPOILER...

...Rebecca changed from being a baddie to being a goodie. It was just everyone being nice to each other—too bloody dull and mawkishly sentimental for my taste.

MaxMaxy · 17/01/2025 11:53

I agree I don't get it either. Not sure why it's so popular

Largestlegocollectionever · 17/01/2025 11:56

It's really not my normal watching, I don't even like football, but loved it!

AreolaGrande · 17/01/2025 11:57

Wasn't for me either. Managed two episodes before giving up.

Am having same currently with Alma's Not Normal. The reviews are stellar but I just don't find it all that amusing, well written or insightful tbh.

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/01/2025 11:57

I didn’t know anything about it before watching it and I loved it! Absolutely joyous. I sort of get why people like football now, which I wouldn’t have thought possible.

FrenchandSaunders · 17/01/2025 11:57

I loved it ... and I've got a massive crush on Ted 😍

stringsoup · 17/01/2025 12:21

I loved everything but the growl...

That’s what I loved about it.Kind gentle humour. I watch a lot of dramas with violence and murders so I need to watch something like Ted Lasso as well to cheer me up and make me laugh.

It's not zero sum, there are plenty of well-written programmes without violence and murder. Gentle is fine, naff and mawkish is not for me. The nadir was the Christmas episode, just dire writing.

prampushingdownthehighst · 17/01/2025 15:45

To start with I enjoyed it but the Juno Temple character was so coarse it spoilt it for me and I don't consider myself a prude as such, Maybe I am?

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 17/01/2025 15:59

It's the sort d tv that works a treat to balance your blood pressure after, say, several episodes of Ozark Grin

My favourite characters were Sam and Jamie, his character development was just lovely

Found Rebecca's best mate highly fucking irritating however.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 17/01/2025 16:00

If you are after tv which leaves you stressed to the ceiling however, Ozark is Absolutely Epic

Lottapianos · 17/01/2025 16:19

I didn't really get it either. I watched all of season 1 and some of season 2 so gave it a good go but then ditched it. Hannah Waddingham is great and so gorgeous but I just didn't care about any of the rest of it. Not for me

Pigeonqueen · 17/01/2025 16:23

It’s wonderful. Stick with it.

JuneFromBethesda · 17/01/2025 16:24

I felt the same as you @TheOtherAgentJohnson . Absolutely loved the first series but the second was too sentimental for me and the Christmas episode was the final nail on the coffin.

It’s a shame as I grew up in Richmond so particularly enjoyed the locations!

Karaokequeenie · 17/01/2025 16:25

Loved it! Loved Roy Kent!

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 17/01/2025 16:25

Oh I loved it. Better than Schitts Creek

minipie · 17/01/2025 16:26

Give it a couple of episodes, it warms on you
