As well as no paper or pens, they don’t have phones. I wonder if they are allowed phones in their rooms. If so, they could look up their traitors, unless they’re told to delete everything, but if you’re clever, you can usually find something online about someone.

Pollygrip · 12/01/2025 09:17

One for the Sean Lock fans - maybe they could abandon the card game for the last two and get them to play a version of Carrot in the Box?

ValentineBlack · 12/01/2025 09:20

They don’t have phones, their phones are confiscated, they’re given dumb phones so they can text the producers but no Internet access

Brilliant suggestion!

Does anyone know where they are staying when not in the castle? Those being traitors go back to the castle at night, but are they all staying seperately then so the others don’t see them leaving? Just curious.

Place marking so I can I watch other thread!

The American cast apparently sleep in a hotel near Inverness Airport but I don’t think it’s been revealed where the UK cast sleep (other than not in the castle)

I reckon the Traitors Turret is a set and closer to the overnight accommodation, rather than being in the castle. I also read somewhere that there are duplicate confession rooms in different locations.

Why don't they just stay in the castle?

Choux · 11/01/2025 23:31

I'm expecting the traitors to approach and choose who they want to recruit and the other is immediately murdered. No shuffle required.

That would be good!

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 12/01/2025 10:14

Why don't they just stay in the castle?

It was certainly filmed as if they did in previous series (and in otehr countries' versions too) but I think it was outed as faked.

The castle isn't a hotel so wouldn't have enough rooms or the right facilities, I am guessing.

ValentineBlack · 12/01/2025 10:38

They stay in the same hotel as the American traitors, near the airport. The castle doesn’t have – for example –22 ensuite rooms. Plus every contestant has a minder who has to be in the room next door.

Piggywaspushed · 12/01/2025 10:56

I suspect they are fed at the hotel too because thy barely touch the breakfast. In the first series there was scrambled eggs and other cooked things and they definitely used to tuck in.

I read somewhere that they stay in a hotel near Inverness airport. They aren’t allowed their phones then and they aren’t even allowed the remote for the tv so they can’t use that to google the contestants.

I wonder if they are allowed to call home. It would be very hard if they can’t, especially those with small children.

It would be interesting if the “murdering face to face” is the two unmasked traitors and the two finalists in the card game. They need to decide between the four of them who joins the traitors and who gets murdered. The faithful could make a “pitch” for their choice, knowing who the traitors are, and the traitors could try to persuade their preferred candidate to join them. It could be very interesting.

I think Minah and Alexander would be an excellent traitor pair. Throw Linda under the bus and remind everyone about the “all female traitors” idea to throw scent off Alexander. I reckon between them they could get another couple of faithful banished too. (If I were them I’d go for “Fozia pointing to Linda was traitor-on-traitor because Fozia was recruited late and realised what a liability Linda was”).

Then the two of them fight it out in the final.

I doubt Minah is daft enough to want to push the all female traitor to keep Alex safe and increase eyes on her.

Aha thanks.

But isn’t there a risk that they will see who sneeks back out at night then..?

I read somewhere that the castle is booked out for the next 10 years. Don’t know if it’s true though.

I’m in Scandinavia and our family love the UK version of the Traitors. It’s the best one. Claudia is great! There is one here, but it’s celebrities only and not very good. Don’t know anyone who watches it either.

APushbikeNamedReluctance · 12/01/2025 11:26

I think Siobhán McSweeny will be good host. Not taken with the idea of Gráinne Seoige, as suggested in a previous thread.

One issue with the Irish version is the tendency to aways find a connection with someone - more three degrees of seperate than six. Not sure how it'll change things but could have an effect on how the groups (or "clicks") form. Though i'm old so maybe it's a thing that the younger generation do less.

@Snowmanscarf @TheDowagerCountessofPembroke they filmed it last May so what would be the benefit in Googling the contestants? There’d be no press releases or commentary about it.

They must be allowed to talk to families and friends somehow, it films for weeks. If they’re not allowed then that explains why their behaviour and emotions deteriorate quickly!

From what I read the hotel has one single staircase and lift in the middle of each floor. There is a guard all night opposite the lift. If the rooms are at the back then the people in the rooms won’t see out.

No. But they would have Instagram/facebook/twitter etc. Someone like Livi working as a model or Francesca working as an interior designer would be certain to have an online presence.

beautyandTVisgoodenoughforme · 12/01/2025 12:09

How would it help them in the game though?

No, because everyone has a minder guarding everybody’s door, so you can’t see when people are coming on going (it’s another reason to do it in a hotel with straight corridors rather than a castle with rooms all over the place). They head to the hotel in separate cars and have slots to go in and out, so no one else can see when people are arriving

ValentineBlack · 12/01/2025 12:12

Added to that in one version – I think Canadian traitors, a contestant was called somehow cheating at the hotel and was kicked out straight away. They never explained what he done exactly. I think one online theory was he had smuggled another phone into his room and was googling people.

BillStickersIsInnocent · 12/01/2025 12:17

I’m watching the NZ series 1 and I’m hooked! They are all so mature, good strategising and an excellent cast. Really enjoyable.
