Something Dan said on unblocked about being closer with the people you sat next to got me thinking. Do they always sit at the same places at the round table? I'm going to have to go back & check now!!!

Phthia · 11/01/2025 10:40

QueenOfThorns · 10/01/2025 22:02

If they rule out the 3 survivors of this game plus the 3 with a shield, the potential Traitor pool has shrunk enormously!

But that's meaningless after a day as the traitors could recruit at any time.

Phthia · 11/01/2025 10:44

Choccyscofffy · 10/01/2025 22:06

Ugh. 9 lives.

Why? She couldn't be murdered anyway.

When it comes down to it - it's actually irrelevant if you vote traitors off because of you do they just recruit more. There's always be traitors left at the end and in fact a recruited traitor might be harder to stop.

If you knew who a traitor was and were close to them you'd be better off keeping them in to be able to vote them out at the last minute

I've been thinking this too

Yes. Richard and Marina pointed this out as one of the many flaws.

But it's worth it because the strongest position to be in is traitor recruited towards the end. That's what everyone is aiming for.

Yes. It would be good game plan to id the traitors and keep them in (playing a game of survival so you don't get banished or murdered) so when it comes to the final you know who is a traitor.

This means you have to be prepared to banished faithfuls and protect traitors upt o the final. It's obviously a statergy you can't share otherwise fellow faithfuls know you'll banish then and traitors will know you're onto them.

I think Linda will be out soon. She has to - sadly as I'm really loving how she's managing to survive despite everything!

beasmithwentworth · 11/01/2025 10:51

@MabelMora

I absolutely loved both Australian versions of the show. They are literally strategising and scheming right from the off aren't they? The same closeness of friendships are formed but it's much more brutal. Oddly cancelled after 2 seasons there though. It's strange how it takes off in some countries and not others isn't it? The hotel it's set in is no match for the castle though and the presenter is no Claudia (but Claudia level of famous in Oz i think)

BishyBarnyBee · 11/01/2025 10:54

Choux · 11/01/2025 10:30

He might have said he had sensory issues with it?

I thought they might give Minah a free pass because I thought she seemed genuinely distressed at the prospect of it on her hair. African/Caribbean hair can require very specific hair treatments which she would struggle with in that situation. So I could see it would be particularly difficult for her and wondered if they'd just pour it down her back.

But then when she was so upset and angry I thought it must be brilliant acting because how could someone who was constantly lying be so upset at being lied to?

But then that was kind of the theme yesterday, lots of people being personally affronted that they'd been lied to on a programme where everyone has to be prepared to lie!

Oh good point. That's where the dreadful Wilf went wrong wasn't it. He recruited some one smarter than him. Which I'll never be sad about as it gave that amazing moment where the last minute penny finally dropped for the perpetually clueless Wilfettes.

Difficulty now, because of that, is traitors tend to get recruited as cannon fodder only.

Lentilweaver · 11/01/2025 10:55

Can we have a sticky at the top: Frankie is not Freddie's mum.

Lazarusc · 11/01/2025 11:07

In respect of the molasses, it seems the producers hadn't anticipated it getting into the first person's eyes and so after that, they had to try and keep it off faces (although Linda managed to get some on her face too and then licked it). Not sure what Frankie was suggesting it was - they aren't going to put anything non-edible on them, just really sticky. I can understand Minah being annoyed that it was harder for her to get rid of though.

Minah telling Dan he had betrayed her trust probably just makes her look more like a faithful. If Leon is the survivor of the card game and forcibly recruited as a traitor, he's really going to need to cover his emotions better.

Also can't understand why Linda didn't think to write the names in block capitals to disguise her writing. Surely Anna will remember the strong, independent woman comment at some point - I thought she'd told Charlotte's that...

APushbikeNamedReluctance · 11/01/2025 11:14

I think you are right Lazarusc. Anna did mention the strong independent woman thing to Charlotte.

Neither Anna or Charlotte (or us!) made the connection to that meaning the traitors are women. That would need Elen's much ignored all women traitors theory.

Elen's theory was definitely ignored by Tyler anyway!

Piggywaspushed · 11/01/2025 11:18

I think also there was an agreement, possibly unspoken , that they would not gunk Fozia's head covering.

They all ignore it - and keep booting out faithful men! They'll twig eventually! Probably when it's too late.

I hated the molasses game. Too mean and I would absolutely hate it getting all over my hair and face. It’s not I’m a celeb!
last season’s challenges they worked together more and it felt more fun to watch. This season seems much meaner and too much emphasis on getting shields mean people are not being team players. Last season the shield seemed more cherry on top not the whole point of the challenge which is after all to build the money pot.
it’s ruining it a little for me I think. Hope the challenges don’t stay mean spirited but I think they will.
enjoyed Claudia being carried though

PlumpHobbit · 11/01/2025 11:24

The "fateful" are really annoying me this year. It was the same with series 2 of one of the international series, each time you think they're onto something someone randomly throws out a name and they just flip onto that, like sheep. This lot seem particularly gullible but again I find myself not wanting the majority of them to win

Trouble is if you're smart you're generally murdered because you're a threat, so you're left with sheepie faithful getting dragged to the final, see Hannah, Meryl and Mollie, all of whom I ended up wanting to shake

It would have been interesting to see what Dan did if he stayed as you got the fleeting glimpse the penny had maybe started to drop when he said about maybe not being murdered due to being close to a traitor (if people had seen previous series that's exactly how faithful have got to the final in the last 2 series). It would be interesting to see how Minah handled suspicions on her, she's played a very good game so far BUT has largely been unchallenged

She nearly made a big mistake imo by being petty about Dan not admitting to gunging her and wanting revenge on him she's lucky the others all completely flipped to him, it was a chance to put Linda under the bus, unless she's using her as cannon fodder

Alexander looks to be quietly working things out, sure they will murder him soon, don't think I'd recruit him I think he'd put you under a bus. He looked terrified in the card game but think it's because he was flicking between each of the other faces trying to read them

I think they're all far too emotional this year, I get its intense but they all seem to be basing everything off emotion rather than taking the time to logically think through what has happened. Way too many tears and dramatic hand waving. Fozia and Alexander don't look to be like that so hoping they can stay in.

Choux · 11/01/2025 11:27

The amount in the prize pot is rarely mentioned by Claudia, doesn't flash up on screen much and the challenges seem designed that it's impossible to get the full money available.

Let's not forget that the money is always won whether it's faithfuls or traitors who win it. So it's in the production company's interest to have the players focus on each other and immunity rather than building up the pot. It ramps up the drama and saves them £50k in prize money.

Pumpkincozynights · 11/01/2025 11:33

Yes it’s good gameplay to keep a suspected traitor in. The difficulty being that if you don’t follow the herd and vote for them, you get flagged up yourself as being a traitor. It must be very difficult to work out how to play the game. That is why Minah had to vote for Dan. She would probably have liked to take him through to the end as an allay but couldn’t risk not voting for him.

sashagabadon · 11/01/2025 11:39

Saving £50k in prize pot money would cover Claudia’s wardrobe budget. The hideous beige with roses on jumper she wore on Thursday I think was £1.5k!

but i think the motivation for more emphasis on shields rather than prize pot is the producers trying to create more conflict which I think is a mistake as I much prefer team work during day and keep arguments for the round table.
I also think the producers in their desire to pick contestants that are not too wise to the game (fair enough) have chosen too many slightly daft ones. Maybe they didn’t want another Paul and Harry dynamic again but it is good TV to see a bit of game play and strategic thinking going on rather than tears and upset. Shame Yin got booted out. She would have been great for this whilst likely being completely wrong

Choux · 11/01/2025 11:45

If there is anyone who suspects Minah but is saying nothing I would love it if the day after Linda's banishment they took Minah aside and said. "I think you are a traitor because of X and Y. I haven't brought it up at the round table but I want you to recruit me."

Obviously if Minah was actually faithful she would tell everyone and the person would likely be banished. But if Minah thinks the person would be a good traitor and the person wants to be a traitor then everyone is happy...

If they only said that to Minah, I’d murder them!
I certainly wouldn’t want another smart traitor.

PlumpHobbit · 11/01/2025 11:48

See I'm against the majority and not finding Linda funny, I want people to survive through skill so it's just annoying me she's somehow managing to despite being so ott

And I actually thought she'd make a good Traitor (older woman who likely wouldn't be suspected)

Appalonia · 11/01/2025 11:49

I wish they could bring back previously banished faithfuls.
( who have been watching the goings on, on a secret camera ). Would certainly throw a spanner in the works!
