The call the midwife christmas special is on bbc 1 in 2 parts. The first part will be shown on christmas day at 20:00. The second part will be shown at 19:30 on boxing day. Series 14 will start on 5th January. I am suprised that it has not been renamed as the doctor Turner show.

I think Martin Clunes is married to the writer or director of Doc Martin, but at least that series was meant to be about the doctor!! (Miss Doc Martin)

I always imagine getting a sequel where Timothy Turner saves the world from covid. I could see him developing the covid vaccine. Yes he would be old but he would come out of retirement.

Martin Clunes’ wife Philippa Braithwaite is the producer of Doc Martin.

I’m not sure what a TV producer does, but this is what Wikipedia says. That seems to give US examples. I don’t know if it’s the same here. Here’s another explanation.

I used to work in TV in another life - the Producer has overall responsibility for the show... the buck stops with them and they call the shots. If you see 'Executive Producer' on credits (often lead actors will be Exec Producers) then it means they have put money into the show... and will recoup profits when it's distributed.

For the first time in a new series of CTM I’m not sure I’m going to bother when it airs tonight if anything else on. Family used to know not to bother me when it’s on. Now I’m not really fussed.

Nor has anyone else, as its Doc Martin!

There is nothing on the other channels that i would be interested in watching instead. I watch call the midwife now just so that i can laugh at the bad writing.

I like to see how long it will take doctor to man splane.

Spelling asside i have never watched it.

The music never used to be this irritating, they used to use actual songs from the era and save the schmaltzy crap for occasional bits.

It’s really terrible now, it’s nothing like it was in the first couple of series’ where it felt believable, was more gritty and things didn’t always work out with a ‘happily ever after’ as it always does now.
