There's a good podcast I listened to about reality TV horrors. This sort of thing is not uncommon.

They all claim there are psych assessments, particularly post the suicides which may or may not have been tv related, but I don't believe they are in any way rigorous. As that wouldn't make good telly and sell advertising space.

Having sat on a university psychology department ethics committee for several years, I genuinely can't see how this passed any tests at all. We turned down projects that were so so much less damaging than going on national TV and potentially becoming a hate figure. Where is the monitoring?
