So sadly we lost Paul, the air has been chilly.
Bernie had a rave, and Summer is comforting Billy.
Todd is a dude, and David's quite a lark.
It'll be Christmas by the next thread, and really quite dark.

Cassie is a sly one, she's taking Ken in.
I wish the naughty scouser would get in the bin.
Gail and Audrey don't have much going on at the mo.
And Stu and Yasmeen are always on the go.

Poor Bethany was slim but she got liposuction.
The fallout from the procedure has caused quite a ruction.
She owes so many thousands, you just wouldn't believe.
The clinic have her passport so she simply can't leave.

Damon's creeped out of the woodwork for a minute.
It's none of his business but he's poked his nose in it.
Offering Sarah dodgy cash he's got hidden away.
Sarah may have to take it. It may be the only way.

The pub is fairly quiet, and not much going on there
Daisy, Jenny, and Glenda all have fab hair!
Daniel is fussing around Bethany all the time
And people blame him for Bethany, like he's committed a crime.

Fizz is very pregnant, but may not keep the baby.
Tyrone really wants to, and says 'can we, maybe?'
Hope and Ruby fancy a new sister or brother.
But we know who'll be looking after it, Yep, the mother!

Carla and Lisa are vibing quite nice.
You can see their reactions when they look in each others eyes.
Mason's trying to go straight, but is he for real?
Or will he go back to his old ways, and bully and steal?

Kit has been fairly quiet, and the quads have been too!
What's the point of the quads, what do they even do?
Can't think of much else going on right now.
And can't get this last bit to rhyme. Grin

I think they have run out of available men for Carla and suitable women for Lisa. So it seemed sensible to put them together. In the minds of Corrie writers.

I don’t think Corrie should be doing this. There’s nothing wrong with a strong female friendship without it being a relationship

I'm not sure what you mean by they shouldn't be doing this?
Of course there is nothing wrong with a strong female friendship but equally it is not unknown for a previously straight woman to have a lesbian relationship in middle age.

I don't like the storyline because I am sick of the sight of Swain, but I don't think there is a problem with it in theory.

FabulouslyFab · 09/10/2024 21:27

It should have been Martin! I was so looking forward to that storyline!

Yes! I was gutted when the sacked Sean Wilson as was he I’m sure, I was so looking forward to the return of the good old days and Gail getting back together with Martin, a Platt family wedding with Gail and Martin moving abroad for their retirement would have been a lovely ending for Gail, now we have the most ridiculous unbelievable ‘Jessie’ shoehorned in to fill the gap, it was cringe watching Eileen and Audrey having to explain to the audience who the hell he was, he was a character of no significance whatsoever, the storyline is an insult to the viewers and an insult to Gail’s character and the scriptwriters have been insulting Gail’s character for the past 15 years, this is just rubbing salt in the wounds.

What I mean is why can’t the writers just keep it as a strong female friendship? It’s nice to see friendships like that on Classic Corrie so I’d like to see a strong female friendship on Corrie now because I don’t see that anymore on there, not really

Clawdy · 10/10/2024 23:16

In real life, Gail is 18 years older than Jesse. Wonder if she will disappear abroad with him.

eggandonion · 10/10/2024 23:43

@JewelleryCat I agree. A friendship would be perfect. Relationships in Corrie end badly.

SabreIsMyFave · 10/10/2024 23:45

Shellingbynight · 10/10/2024 13:01

@SabreIsMyFave You didn't dream it, you just forgot the next bit, when Gail bought it back off David (around the sinkhole time). There was an auction and I think Tracy was bidding for it, David thought he was going to lose his home, but the mystery bidder who won was revealed as - ta-da - Gail.

Oh yeah, now I DO remember that. Thank you! Did they ever fix the sinkhole?!

I agree. Keep Swain and Carla friends. No need to go down the relationship route IMO too.

Tim and Steve can be besties ...why couldn't Carla and Lisa be the same ?

Same sex besties...
Rita and Mavis..
Tim and Steve...
Vera and what's her name..

Gail and Sally were close friends at one point

(Till one went off the with other one's husband !)

Tyrone and Kevin.

See loads !

eggandonion · 11/10/2024 00:24

Deirdre and Liz.
Gail and Suzy for the really oldies.

bizzey · 11/10/2024 01:18

I remember Gail and Suzie 🤣!

bizzey · 11/10/2024 01:18

I had forgotten about Deidre and Liz .

JewelleryCat · 11/10/2024 02:03

In Classic Corrie atm, Vera and Frankie have a nice friendship

bizzey · 11/10/2024 02:10

Can't remember Frankie..
I can only see Vera with Nicks grandmother. .
IVY !!! 💡💡💡!

Frankie Baldwin, Danny’s wife. Oh yes, Ivy. Now she was a character

bizzey · 11/10/2024 02:12

Ohhh ...I can see her face ....but would not have been able to name her !

bizzey · 11/10/2024 02:17

I looked her up...

I was too busy having children around that time to follow the storylines probably 🤣....

Mind you ...I have stopped having children now ....and still struggle to follow the story lines 🤣😯🤣!

FeltCarrot · 11/10/2024 08:29

I agree about Carla and Swain. Lazy writing at it finest. Just a plot device to keep Swain in the street otherwise she has no reason to keep hanging around.

eggandonion · 11/10/2024 08:37

She could move into a fancy apartment with the kitchen in the living room.
She loves a visit to Roy's.

Susie has just died ☹️

Edited

Yes I'm sick of her

Wouldn't she be rushed off her feet with other police work in the real world

eggandonion · 11/10/2024 10:34

I read about poor Susie yesterday. Gail and Susie always seemed very grown up and glamorous to me!

Shellingbynight · 11/10/2024 10:54

I agree you don’t see strong female friendships on Corrie any more, they used to be so many. They have fallen by the wayside in the same way as so many other things like characterisation and plotting. The last female friendship they introduced was with Sarah a couple of years ago, the other woman turned out to be someone Adam once knew who was stalking him (or something).

But there has not been a gay woman on Corrie for years (I think since Sophie left?) which isn’t realistic. And Swain, much as I loathe her, is obviously going to have a relationship at some point, so pick a character. I would have picked Debbie - no actually, I would have seconded Swain to Plymouth, bye Swain.

JewelleryCat · 11/10/2024 11:07

I thought Asha and Nina were still together or did they break up?

Shellingbynight · 11/10/2024 11:20

Oh yes, how could I forget Asha and Nina. I think they broke up because of Nina's jealousy about the other paramedic student. But we barely see them, so who knows?

There are a lot of young characters now who aren't in a relationship, it's easier to count the ones who are. Rather than focussing on relationships or friendships, we get the Institute or endless police dramas.
