So sadly we lost Paul, the air has been chilly.
Bernie had a rave, and Summer is comforting Billy.
Todd is a dude, and David's quite a lark.
It'll be Christmas by the next thread, and really quite dark.

Cassie is a sly one, she's taking Ken in.
I wish the naughty scouser would get in the bin.
Gail and Audrey don't have much going on at the mo.
And Stu and Yasmeen are always on the go.

Poor Bethany was slim but she got liposuction.
The fallout from the procedure has caused quite a ruction.
She owes so many thousands, you just wouldn't believe.
The clinic have her passport so she simply can't leave.

Damon's creeped out of the woodwork for a minute.
It's none of his business but he's poked his nose in it.
Offering Sarah dodgy cash he's got hidden away.
Sarah may have to take it. It may be the only way.

The pub is fairly quiet, and not much going on there
Daisy, Jenny, and Glenda all have fab hair!
Daniel is fussing around Bethany all the time
And people blame him for Bethany, like he's committed a crime.

Fizz is very pregnant, but may not keep the baby.
Tyrone really wants to, and says 'can we, maybe?'
Hope and Ruby fancy a new sister or brother.
But we know who'll be looking after it, Yep, the mother!

Carla and Lisa are vibing quite nice.
You can see their reactions when they look in each others eyes.
Mason's trying to go straight, but is he for real?
Or will he go back to his old ways, and bully and steal?

Kit has been fairly quiet, and the quads have been too!
What's the point of the quads, what do they even do?
Can't think of much else going on right now.
And can't get this last bit to rhyme. Grin

If Gemma goes on one more time about money I will scream.

suburburban · 21/10/2024 21:42

And where is Harry, are they not concerned for his welfare in the dingy flat with roses

JewelleryCat · 21/10/2024 21:49

BirthdayRainbow · 21/10/2024 21:07

I'm not convinced David knew the money was there.

Then why be all panicky when Lily was looking for her spare helmet?

DeeDeesfabulouswardrobe · 22/10/2024 01:25

Roryno · 21/10/2024 21:06

To buy the house? A deposit?

The thing is in the real world you can’t just deposit a huge amount of cash into the bank without the bank investigating yet in soaps it’s done all the time, Daisy stealing the money for the Rovers was the last lot of ‘dirty’ cash used to buy property so it wouldn’t surprise me if David suddenly bought the house with a huge cash deposit and no questions asked 🙄

WiddlinDiddlin · 22/10/2024 03:44

Yep, of course Weasel-Platt knew it was there, why get all panicky about Lilly rummaging about under there. Then the gloating over the cash, not shock at finding it.

But as DeeDees says above, you can't just dump a ton of cash in a bank and use it for a deposit on a house, the mortgage company will want to know where it came from and Platt cannot say 'oh, well, funny story, found it in a lock-up on Rosamund St'...

Though of course in Corrie probably you can (I think Daisy and Jenny got away with it more easily as it came from a bank account, direct to another bank account. Actual cash is far harder!).

Martins scenes were filmed, to whoever was asking, and then for some as yet unknown reason, they sacked the actor and reworked it and refilmed it all with John Thompson instead. I think its pretty obvious that there is something nasty that could crawl out of the woodwork that they don't want tarnishing the show.

FeltCarrot · 22/10/2024 07:54

If DeeDee had matted Joel she would have been Deedee Deering so she really did have a lucky escape. Unless she was planning on sticking to Bailey.

FeltCarrot · 22/10/2024 09:14

That should say married not matted!

JewelleryCat · 22/10/2024 09:48

I still think it’s a shame they sacked Sean Wilson, I don’t believe this Gail and Jesse relationship and even when you look at Classic Corrie, there’s still something between Gail and Martin

Shellingbynight · 22/10/2024 10:27

Gail and Martin did have a better 'good old days' connection but I'm not sure I would have bought them getting back together. I watch Classic but I think their relationship was well and truly over. It's a shame they killed off everyonelse, I would have liked to see her reunite with Lewis.

Oh Lewis was fabulous!
Sad they killed him off , such a great actor Nigel Havers.
BigWig absolutely knew about the money, he's sneaky !

PayYourselfFirst · 22/10/2024 10:38

He could put the money through the salon though?

Yes, I agree with this. My aunt had been saving money in her house, and we knew this but never knew how much. She died last year, and when we cleaned out the house we discovered she'd got £10,000 of actual cash in a wardrobe.

We took it to put in the bank - as her only son - my cousin (who lives 400 miles away) wasn't able to travel for a few weeks. They wanted to know where it came from. They said they need to put in a report, where we had got the money from because it was quite a lot. Yet as you say, on Soap Operas, multiple 10s of 1000s, or even multiple 100s of 1000s are never questioned.

We had to put it in pretty quick because the Queen had died the year before, and we knew the money was going to be changing to the King's soon, and we didn't know how long the Queen's money would be legal tender.

That's another point. If people put multiple 10s of 1000s of pounds away in a Manilla envelope (and/or they bury it or something like that,) to pick up at a later date years later, (like in bank robberies,) aren't they worried that it's not going to be legal tender by the time they come to get at it?

I hope not, but it's possible that King Charles might die in the next 2 to 3 years. That'll make all his money no good as well. I'd be worried about the money being outdated, if I stashed it away for years. I'm going down a rabbit hole now.

This is Corrie, no one will do any money laundering checks and whoever buys the house (it'll almost certainly be David because the Platts have to live there in perpetuity) it'll go through in a week.

JewelleryCat · 22/10/2024 11:05

From Google

”What will happen to the banknotes featuring the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II? Banknotes that feature the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II will remain legal tender and are co-circulating alongside King Charles III notes.”

Sorry to hear about your aunt @SabreIsMyFave but the notes you gave to the bank should still be ok and I’m presuming it’ll be the same when Charles passes. I’m not sure about anyone else but I don’t have any notes with Charles on it, it’s still the late Queen

Lorrymum · 22/10/2024 12:32

Just seen that Corrie is on Sunday (27th) at 8 o'clock.

WiddlinDiddlin · 22/10/2024 17:09

My latest theory re DeeDee/Joel..

She went round to his expecting him to be out, to twat his car/flat... OR, to threaten him into leaving her the fuck alone.

At this point she was terrified and he had very recently left a dramatic message on her phone.

Something happens, and she runs away, leaving him and the crowbar.

When his car is found under the viaduct and the second car also found, she goes looking for him and doesn't find him but does find the bloody crowbar she left.

Realising this has probably got HER DNA on it, she yoinks it... takes it up and cleans it...

Or... suspecting that either Daddy or Uncle Ronnie have offed him, she swipes it and cleans it up and desperately wants to cover up.

In reality, neither of them have offed him, but someone else has... and she is inadvertently covering for the mystery killer.

Or, she bonked him in self defence, he ran off and she took the crowbar home realising how stupid she'd been and later on, he falls off a bridge as you always go for a walk along a bridge over a river when you have a head injury in Corrie-land.

Newnametoday5 · 23/10/2024 09:43

Confused here a little but did I hear the name Glory mentioned the other night? Michael's daughter has vanished so is she still meant to be living at the Bailey's house?

ArabellaFishwife · 23/10/2024 10:10

I think Glory lives upstairs, in traditional Corrie fashion, in the Bailey household.

This is absolutely my thinking too.

AmusedMaker · 23/10/2024 20:43

I actually laughed at the scenes with Kirk in the kebab shop.

Roryno · 23/10/2024 20:46

That’s a one star rating for Des!

Are they going to kill Gail off??

You can on Planet Corrie. Not only that but when someone dies, boom the money is the beneficiary’s account straight away, no arsing about with probate no nothing.

Roryno · 23/10/2024 20:52

Yes on Corrie you can go to the building society with two pillowcases of £10 notes and they’ll say great, here’s a 15 year fixed rate mortgage. And here are the keys. Furniture is included.

I don't remember Gail having a heart attack three years ago ?

I don't remember Gail having a heart attack three years ago ?

From fandom. I didn’t remember either

”In June, during another family row centred around Sam, Gail collapsed and after tests at the hospital was told she had suffered a minor heart attack. Feeling weighed down again by the squabbles of her children and after Audrey pointed out that she was too involved in their lives, she decided to return to Thailand for an extended break to find some peace and happiness again.”
