I couldn't think of a decent title

Thomas (Rozz) or Caspar. I thInk he's alright! I quite like someone who digs their heels in rather than trying to gloss over problems like Emma. Or one of the lovely Aussie farmers (Mick or Sean).

Ross seems kind, fun and decent but it's been too much about the abstinence/ celibacy non issue to get to know him and I'm not sure we'd have much in common.

StickChildNumberTwo · 07/10/2024 13:26

I've been behind on both the show and these threads (not reading ahead so I avoid spoilers) but have caught up and wanted to say thank you for the entertainment!

Question for those of you who dive deeper into the whole thing, what do they actually do all week? How long is it between dinner parties? From what they're saying it sounds like they go to the gym and bitch about the other couples, but surely they must have to find things to fill their time with. Are they allowed to leave the apartment block? Do they have contact with family and friends?

So they used to show a lot more of this, especially I think on the Aussie one (I'm not sure on lengths and timings but it feels like it's just drama focussed now). They'd have the couples spending time together wandering around, arranging dates, shopping, bars, gyms etc. also doing a lot more activities on honeymoon and during the series instead of just talking to camera.

Recently found this thread, so place marking before the next episode.

I wouldn’t get into bed with any of this year’s males. All awful!

I remembered who Lacey's family reminds me of

Spot on!

Thanks - it does feel very drama-orientated (and confected drama at that - Lacey's mum was dreadful, but it sounds like she was set up to make it as likely to cause drama as possible). I watched the original UK series where it was very different (and I'm pretty sure they actually got married), then have seen one of these more drama-focussed ones (I remember Morag not getting what she ordered, so whichever one that was), but this feels even more ridiculous. Surely they need the chance to actually get to know each other, and not only in the context of the other couples. But they must do normal things like eat and shop, surely.

WeregoingtoIbiza · 07/10/2024 14:34

Though Duncan of Australia fame was lovely! Cam who married jules was also lovely but Duncan was very handsome.

If we're talking all grooms from uk and Australia, Brent was gorgeous and a really nice guy.

I know! It used to be middle-aged divorcees or late-30s singletons. And one of the experts was a vicar. Now it’s late-20s folk who want to increase their Instagram followers, and who aren’t strangers to cosmetic surgeons.

Ross could potentially be a bit slimy and sleazy. I am getting that sense but I appreciate that could be unfair. I do like him but we're not seeing many dimensions here with him.

Kieran is adorable but I wonder if he could be a post coital crier. I appreciate I spend too much time pondering these possibilities.

Edited

Oh god this made me laugh 😂 post coital crier nooooo 😂

MounjaroUser · 07/10/2024 17:20

Tbf to those who say they didn't get what they ordered, I'm sure the MAFS team ask tons of questions about what kind of partner they're looking for - and they often get the exact opposite.

I guess part of the problem is that physical characteristics are only part of what's important in a match, but it's the bit that's most immediately obvious when they meet. So can they work on a relationship with eg someone who's shorter than them when they wanted tall (wasn't that a potential issue for Kristina and Kieran?) but is a good match in terms of personality and hopes for the future?

I remember the first few series (UK) and the poor people looked properly traumatised about being shacked up with a randomer in the middle of nowhere with no other couples for company 😬 I felt really sorry for them, especially as they'd undergone loads of psychometric testing only to be put with someone who irritated the life out of them.

MounjaroUser · 07/10/2024 18:26

All that testing seems to have gone out of the window, doesn't it!

MounjaroUser · 07/10/2024 18:28

It's not just the physical things that the so-called experts ignore, though. What about the guy on this series who didn't want anyone with a child and they marry him off to someone with children? That seems incredibly unfair on everyone.

Italiangreyhound · 07/10/2024 19:09

PollyPeeves

"To keep us amused til the next episode...? Of the current grooms who would everyone choose to be paired with?"

Well assuming I was still young and attractive I would go for Nathan for the stunning body and Alex because I quite like him. I know he does not have the fabs on here but there is something about him. And then for reality, Casper is really my type of good boy!

Why anyone with children (under 18, bit different if they're adults which I think is the case for Richelle) is allowed on I have no idea. That's not something you should be forcing on anybody, and the potential impact on the kids is horrendous - can you imagine the teasing at school?

Mind you, Holly's kids seem to be getting a lot of mention (by her and also on here and elsewhere) whereas Ross's little girl seems to have been generally forgotten (to the point that I'm questioning whether I've remembered right which groom it is that has a daughter). Could be the edit in terms of what makes it onto TV, but I also wonder whether a father is more easily excused going on MAFS than a mother.

Tittat50 · 07/10/2024 19:37

@StickChildNumberTwo that's a really good point. The producers probably do realise which female participants are more likely to go on about ' meh kids meh kids' and as a result invite criticism.

dapsnotplimsolls · 07/10/2024 19:49

Matey with 4 kids tonight should be interesting. I wonder if they all have the same Mum.

Bluetrews25 · 07/10/2024 21:03

Eh up
Four kids.
Sure you put them first, mister, sure you do.

4 kids is a huge commitment to make without being asked first
