I do find it funny, that they've just won a medal, and they are clearing up after themselves.

I know! I do like watching the athletics, and like finding random sports to watch. The tennis (most of it ) has been great.

Oh, they are- I saw that Shapo was defaulted for saying something to someone in the crowd(?) in his match against Shelton.

Could be another Italian winner today, if Cobolli wins.

Oh well, never mind. We'll move on to the next tournament (he's not playing in Montreal, thankfully). At least they complained on the Olympics thread about us and didn't come here to do it, like last time.

Well quite- I like Holger, personally. (He's drawn Raonic in the first round of Montreal, by the way- will be interesting how that pans out).

I don't expect everyone to like the players I like (I know there are strange people who don't like Rafa ). And that's ok too.

But don't be surprised when not everyone likes someone just because they happen to be winning the most.

Margaret Court won quite a lot. Am I supposed to like her too?

Morning all!- did my usual thing of googling the time difference in Canada this morning. (one day, I will remember).

They are 5 hours behind, same as New York (I don't know why I never remember that )

In the middle of the night, one of those 'that's odd' things popped into my head- when I realised I'd not seen Marion Bartoli at any of the tennis,(at least, i don't think I did) and being French, I thought she might have been there (and she usually interviews for Eurosport/RG). I vaguely remembered an issue around her own particiapation at the 2012 Olympics the year before she retired/won Wimbledon- and it seems she had falling out with the French tennis federation and the IOC, due to not meeting the criteria (she hadn't played Fed Cup) so didn't play. Maybe she holds a grudge .

Apparently Cobolli is extremely shy and hates crowds, and the thought of having to speak after the match made him more nervous than playing the final!

Aww- poor Flavio- I hope that doesn't mean he'll get 'stage fright' every time he makes a final! There is a lot of pressure on them to perform and do sppeches and things- it won't come naturally to all of the players .
