The new series 4 - of the hit crime show, starring Tala Gouveia and Jason Watkins, will start on Sunday, July 21 at 8 pm on ITV1.

Only 3 episodes sadly

Love this series

E1
Ian Andrews boards a bus in Bath but is discovered lifeless upon arrival, leaving DCI McDonald and DS Dodds puzzled by the daytime homicide case with no apparent witnesses.

E2
A woman missing for 38 years is found dead. Detectives McDonald and Dodds investigate to uncover her identity, whereabouts during that time, and the motive behind her murder after such a long period.

E3
It's wedding season in Bath, but a string of suspicious deaths is affecting the celebrations throughout the city. Is there a serial killer on the loose who goes after weddings? It's a case that pushes McDonald and Dodds to the limit.

I’ve never minded them being 2 hours in previous series , the problem is that the latest 2 episodes have not been as interesting .

Yes I think this

I like the hot air balloon one or the clinic

These just seemed boring

That was a painful watch and I gave up after 40 minutes.

And I concur again.

I was really pleased to see this programme back, and didn’t mind the longer episodes & shorter series before. But this time round I’m losing interest half way through-ish. I haven’t looked into whether there are different writers, directors etc - but for me something just isn’t grabbing me this time.

And, I also like the hot air balloon one!

Floralnomad · 01/08/2024 15:46

My daughter says they’ve gone the way of many shows where in every episode the murder / suspect has a personal relationship with one of the police people , this week it was Dodds , last week it was Clare Skinners role . Apparently the next episode has been billed as ‘testing McDonald’s and Dodds relationship ‘ and a face from the past , which I’m guessing will be Dodds wife .

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/08/2024 16:16

Maybe different writers

Hmmmmmm

This is the best one this series! A good storyline making you think. I do love this programme, it's got the Sunday Feels perfectly.

lazymum99 · 04/08/2024 20:57

It is great Sunday night viewing and this is the best story so far

lazymum99 · 04/08/2024 21:14

Oh my gosh a romance

Clawdy · 04/08/2024 22:23

Really enjoyed tonight's. Was hoping Dodds and Dora would get together though!

QueenOfTheNihilist · 04/08/2024 22:47

I love this series!

The two characterS, the pastiche Poirot denouements with all suspects gathered .

Obviously the plots are far fetched. No way could they have investigated all those murders, interviewed all those people, got ballistics and toxicology reports back, been back and forth all over Bath, all in one day.

And how could the brother have got Florence’s money? Had she left it to him in her will? If she died intestate her new wife would have got most.

But I really enjoy the series anyway.

Romeiswheretheheartis · 04/08/2024 22:54

That was the only one of the three I've enjoyed, and actually understood what was going on!

duc748 · 04/08/2024 22:56

Agreed, this was the best of this season by far. Really good fun. They even worked in a Trowbridge joke! 😃

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/08/2024 23:02

This episode , although far fetched , was so much better than the previous two , thoroughly enjoyed it . A shame that there are only 3 episodes in the series.

I thought the 'could be' romance between Dodds and the photographer seemed a bit odd , as it was so out of character , it would've changed the whole dynamics of the programme . Not so much for MacDonald who accepted her boyfriend's proposal .

I thought the DJ on the radio was going to be involved in the murders , but was wrong as I often am in these dramas !!

duc748 · 05/08/2024 10:21

In TVland, DJs (and journalists) are often heroes. In real life, not so much...

Wheredidyougetthat · 05/08/2024 10:32

I really enjoyed that episode too, in fact I think I’m alone in enjoying all of them! I seem to remember in series 3 the last episode was also the strongest. The one thing I’m confused about is on IMDb the cast list for Wedding Fever lists Bill Bailey at the top as Paul Watts. Am I going mad? I don’t remember Bill Bailey being in it?

ciderhouserules · 05/08/2024 10:49

Bill Bailey was the DJ on the radio! I twigged him straight away, he actually has a bit of a west-country accent Grin
The photographer - what have I seen her in before? I didn't recognise the actress' name?

duc748 · 05/08/2024 11:02

Richard Harrington presumably got a BOGOF deal to film two eps of the series.

Wheredidyougetthat · 05/08/2024 12:40

Thanks @ciderhouserules, that makes sense! The actor playing the photographer has been loads of stuff but when I looked on IMDb the main thing I know her from is the Crown (playing the Queen mum). I’m sure I know her from some other things too but I don’t remember watching the other programs she’s been in.

She's been in a lot of things

Recently the thing on BBC with Peter Davison and Alison steadman and they lived in flats in a larger house

I was scratching my head as there was something very familiar about her mannerisms, I realized she had a minor role in the 1995 (Colin Firth) Pride and Prejudice, which I watch every year. She was in 3 episodes as the militia's Colonel's young, flirty wife who took Lydia to Brighton.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/08/2024 20:47

Nope gave up with e3 as well

So who was the killer

And why

Was it the dad with the knife

duc748 · 05/08/2024 20:59

No, it was the bloke who only got slightly poisoned.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/08/2024 22:58

I thought he was stabbed
