Well Celine Dion - you have just made this hard-hearted bitch cry

😥Watching the Netflix documentary, so so sad.

What a lovely lady. The only time she seems anywhere near angry is at herself when she cant sing, and being brave enough to allow the spasms/seizures to be shown.

I never cry (unless it is about children) but this ... 😢😢

It's awful, what a horrible and cruel illness

Meredusoleil · 25/06/2024 20:44

What's the name of the documentary please?

MaryMack · 25/06/2024 20:46

I agree, I have never been a Celine Dion fan, but what a lovely person she is. And what a voice, even though she's had to change her range of vocals.

TheLadyOfTheFlowers · 25/06/2024 20:47

@Meredusoleil It is called I Am :Celine Dion

Can't seem to find this on Netflix. Are you sure it's not on another streaming site?

TheShellBeach · 25/06/2024 21:16

@Meredusoleil It's on Amazon Prime.

Fraudornot · 25/06/2024 21:41

I’ve just watched it - I found it deeply moving. Not in a designed to generate tears way but in the struggle of another human being trying to make sense of a bitter blow. She has had an incredible life with everything she wanted financially and clearly loved performing from the very depths of her being. Everything has been taken from her with this cruel illness. I thought she was very brave to make this documentary

3luckystars · 25/06/2024 21:43

What illness has she got? I will definitely watch this at the weekend. Her children must be teenagers now are they ?

Fraudornot · 25/06/2024 21:44

Stiff person syndrome - very rare condition

Mrsjayy · 25/06/2024 21:45

Aww I thought it was going to be on Discovery plus I don't have Netflix I might register just to watch it, I love her and this illness she has is heartbreaking

Fraudornot · 25/06/2024 21:46

It’s on Amazon prime

It’s on Amazon prime

Ah thank you I will watch it there.

Lovemycat2023 · 25/06/2024 22:05

I heard Scott Mills talking about it on the radio, and how moving it is. I saw her being interviewed on the BBC and she was very honest, and she’s been working so hard to get back to singing. Not a fan of her music, but I wish her every luck in dealing with a cruel blow.

@3luckystars yes her twins are shown, they seem really sweet and respectful boys. Not much of her older son.

I cried like a baby for the last 10 minutes. Whilst her music isn't my cup of tea she really had an incredible talent. She was very opennsnd honest.

What a cruel disease. She seems like she has a fantastic team around her and it made me wonder what SPS care would look like for your average Joe.

alrightluv · 26/06/2024 00:22

I'm watching now. I agree extremely brave.

She's funny talking about shoes.

alrightluv · 26/06/2024 10:27

Blimey she's suffering so much 😢

Fraudornot · 26/06/2024 11:57

She must worry about her children so much as well as they lost their father at such a young age.

alrightluv · 26/06/2024 12:37

I know I was thinking about them.

Knitgoodwoman · 26/06/2024 21:56

I’m watching it now and it’s so sad. She’s so resilient and brave… when she was talking about her lungs I felt just so bloody sorry for her. She’s only 56.

I actually love her music! Surprised to see so many people on a thread say they don’t like it.

MagAmberson · 26/06/2024 22:29

Not a fan of her music but she appears to be a very classy lady and this is such a cruel disease. I actually enjoyed just seeing her home, wardrobe and her routines (like doing her own makeup). Pure nosiness on my part and how the other half live.

She's clearly completely devastated that she can no longer sing or perform like she used to. It was so sad to see but I applaud her willingness to share so much, even though at times I felt voyeuristic (during the seizure)

alrightluv · 27/06/2024 13:46

I'm the same age as of yesterday. It actually stopped me moaning about my aching shoulder. It should probably get better. She's not so lucky. Absolutely awful.

I was impressed she used the vacuum.

Dozycuntlaters · 27/06/2024 13:54

I was a massive Celine fan back in the day. I saw her live at wembley, she was incredible. I watched this yesterday and also shed a tear for her. Such a lovely and humble lady and very brave to put this all out there for all to see. My heart broke for her when she had that seizure (but like a pp said, it did feel quite intrusive) yet she seems to positive and refuses to be beaten, even though she's bloody angry too.

All the money in the world can't buy us health, really does put it into perspective. I hope she does get to sing again one day.

Hewlet · 27/06/2024 20:13

I remember quite enjoying her music in the 90s, but I really didn't like seeing the old clips of her singing. Just really not my taste, but I felt surprised at how I didn't like them. There was a harshness to all of it.

I am not far through, so evidently haven't got to the most personal, emotive scenes. I'm not sure if I can, it is heartbreaking seeing her frustration and grief in the little bits I've already seen.
