Well Celine Dion - you have just made this hard-hearted bitch cry

😥Watching the Netflix documentary, so so sad.

What a lovely lady. The only time she seems anywhere near angry is at herself when she cant sing, and being brave enough to allow the spasms/seizures to be shown.

I never cry (unless it is about children) but this ... 😢😢

Just watched this and I felt so sad for her. She is very hard on herself.

Another thing I noticed is there are very few women around her. I think she needs some good quality female company!

I am 55 minutes in - it's 1 hr 40 I think. Very moving and upsetting to see a brilliant, and talented and gifted singer, so fragile and weak, and a shadow of her former self. And yes she seems devastated to have lost her incredible singing voice!

She said she couldn't accept it for a while, and even pretended to the audience she was OK, whilst her voice was breaking - by getting them to sing when her voice failed, and tapping the microphone and pretending it was a fault. Til one time when she ran off stage as her voice just 'went' and she never went back! Then she and her concert managers told people it was ear infections, and sinus problems.

I also agree she appears to have hardly any women around her. She has 6 sisters (I think it's 6,) where are they? Are they all still in Canada whilst she is in the USA (Nevada I think?) Maybe she would be better going back to Canada where she has family.

She seemed kinda lonely to me. She adores her sons, and they adore her, but they won't always be living with her. The youngest (the twins) are 13 now! If she lives another 30 years, she will be very lonely rattling around that huge mansion with only paid staff for company. Just goes to show that money can't buy health, happiness, or friends.

I have shed a few tears too. And I still have three quarters of an hour of the documentary to go! Poor lady has not only lost her singing voice, but she is also in constant pain and loses her balance frequently. She is only 56!

Yes so young to have this awful disease.

She is lonely. I want to give her a hug. :(

I really enjoyed this. SPS looks hideous. I like Celine Dion. She gets alot of stick about her appearance and weight and this all explains it.

What I found difficult, through no fault of Celine's,was that she had access at home to the immune modulating treatment called IVIG. I and many many others are incredibly unwell ( I'm more incapacitated due to another neurological autoimmune condition) where IVIG is often used. Here in the UK, no one will ever get it. The only time is if you have GBarre Syndrome and are suffering rapid onset paralysis. It's not right. But yes in Celine's position I'd absolutely buy it in too.

I felt she was lonely too with only paid help around her but maybe her family are around but just didn’t want to be on camera? There was mention at the beginning of the godmother taking the boys to school.
she is a real extrovert who loved the public around her so I can imagine the very narrow life she has to lead now is devastating and with this condition that can cause seizures at any time it’s not surprising that she looks so anxious. She also mentions she has been on high doses of Valium for many years to relax her voice and there were powerful drugs given to her during the seizure shown. She must feel pretty lousy a lot of the time.

Yes - I am hoping that she has a few more people around her (close friends and family) who don't want to be on camera, because it did appear that apart from her children, she only has paid staff in her life.

I also think that she is struggling so badly because she can't really leave the house now, and doesn't see many people. And she was previously someone who regularly travelled the world, mixed a lot with dozens of people, and had a wide circle of friends.

She is basically trapped where she is, in that big house, with very few people in her life. Her health is holding her back, because she doesn't know when she will have a seizure, and she is wobbly on her feet, and prone to keeling over...

She clearly loved the audiences, the fans, the adoration, and the attention, and she was at home on the stage, and is devastated to have lost her singing voice... That was the one thing that was so very special and precious in her life (apart from her husband and children,). She seems quite depressed now. Poor love. Sad

I also think that when she sang that last song - 'This Is Who I Am' I think it was called, it sounded nothing like the Celine Dion I have known and loved since 1991. Very sad. 😢

She might be a closet mner 😉

I agree and hope she has good friends.

It was so sad to see such a lovely and gifted woman stricken down like that. I cried so much. I'm 3 years older than her and feel v grateful my health ailments are relatively minor. I really hope her health improves.

SomethingFun · 28/06/2024 12:59

It is so sad to see someone struggle so much - the seizure was awful to watch and I can’t imagine how it feels to live through things like that - she is very brave as are other people who suffer similarly.

Her music wasn’t my thing back in the day but loads of people loved her and she was an amazing performer looking at the clips in the documentary. I hope she can find peace and a level of singing that she can do without it impacting her health as she can still sing better than 99% of us 😊

stalecrayon · 28/06/2024 20:32

I am watching now. She is extremely hard on herself. I hope she has a good team of people (good friends) behind her offering support to her and the boys.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 28/06/2024 20:38

Her music isn't my thing but by fuck does she have a voice.

I watched a Carpool Karaoke with her and was surprised how funny she was and have been fan ever since.

She was honest in this documentary. Respect to her.

bruffin · 28/06/2024 23:09

Poor , poor lady. It is so sad for her.

I read a book years ago called Diana's Story by Derec Longden about his first wife. She had a mystery disease they could not diagnose but ended up thinking it was ME. Sadly she died but it sounds very much like what Celine is going through, she used to go into spasms like that.
