The other thread was getting too slow (and we were running out of space faster than the thread on a bobbin)

I like the hidden belt - might nick that technique.

murasaki · 17/07/2024 21:12

If the mtm is Chanel, surely she'll have to make something fitted for once.

Madcats · 17/07/2024 21:12

Ballenciago? The fashion house that is/was a teeny tiny bit controversial when the editors were probably deciding what the new series might feature:

I really don’t like to run anyone down on their clothing but Suzy’s dress is dreadful.

SoupDragon · 17/07/2024 21:13

None of these are going to have the "flawless" finish the judges want. 😂

They said expect. The judges do not expect, they hope as you said!

Binglebong · 17/07/2024 21:14

I feel Susy said in the interviews "I'm well quirky, me!" and now has to live up to it.

SoupDragon · 17/07/2024 21:14

Pascha's medical apron is looking good.

Like anybody that sews cuts out a pattern
It's a fairly standard skill for dressmaking.

I know they have to cut out a pattern. But the term 'pattern cutting' is a specific skill, that none of them have, of creating the pattern pieces for a garment from an original design.

They are just putting a pattern they have already been given on fabric and Suzy says she isn't experienced in doing it! It's the first thing you do.

Why no weights or pins for cutting out

BiscuityBoyle · 17/07/2024 21:17

There is a lot of focus on Suzy in this challenge. Almost nothing on Luke.

123ZYX · 17/07/2024 21:18

None of those front seams look good. Do they not have access to an iron?!

Binglebong · 17/07/2024 21:18

I have spotted weights being used.

littlbrowndog · 17/07/2024 21:20

Pascha the best

Binglebong · 17/07/2024 21:20

Definitely. Alex would have done well. Sad

Ailsa used pins, the others had weights. Luke uses a string of steel nuts for his which I thought was clever.

Lots of weights being used! By all of them.

Binglebong · 17/07/2024 21:22

Ooh this is pure steampunk!

Is that encouraging, because we see more of the sewers who are about to leave?

SoupDragon · 17/07/2024 21:23

Bin bags! That would hve been right up Suzy's street.

I often look at the ties in charity shops and try to think what i could make with them.

PickAChew · 17/07/2024 21:23

I'm looking for the valve where you inflate Suzy's dress. And willing everyone else not to fuck up.

SoupDragon · 17/07/2024 21:25

Luke's looks amazing! I hope he pulls it off.

littlbrowndog · 17/07/2024 21:26

That dress. 🙌🏽🙌🏽

NigelHarmansNewWife · 17/07/2024 21:26

No one has taken any of the ties apart. Wonder if they were told they couldn't?

I loved the first round dress pattern. That was right up my strasse. Pasha for the overall win I think.
