I like Jannik, Ice- but he's won plenty so far this year.

Come on StruffGrin

IceandIndigo · 21/06/2024 18:21

That’s how I feel too Raahh. Plus he’s young, he’s number 1, he’ll win lots more.

Raahh · 21/06/2024 18:21

Oof. Tie break.

Raahh · 21/06/2024 18:26

Put the kiss of death on Struff by saying he was the king of tie breaks this season , at the start.

ChessieFL · 21/06/2024 18:28

I’m watching Birmingham, Fernandez v Tomljanovic. Nice to see Ajla back after so long out injured. Unfortunately she’s just lost the first set 6-1.

Raahh · 21/06/2024 18:29

Well done Jannik- good effort from Struff, and he's had a great week, beating Stef.

IceandIndigo · 21/06/2024 18:30

Well done Jannik.

Raahh · 21/06/2024 18:32

Struff will be a dangerous player for any of the top seeds to meet early on at Wimbledon, since he is outside of the seedings.

JaneJeffer · 21/06/2024 18:42

Disappointing all round

Ajla’s won - she turned her match round very impressively.

JaneJeffer · 21/06/2024 19:45

Well done Ajla. I haven't seen any of the women this week.

Where are you able to watch the Birmingham ladies' matches?

CrushingOnRubies · 21/06/2024 20:13

I am really not a fan of his . There is something about him that always annoys me. It's probably really unfair!
It was all the twizzling if his racket that got me. Don't be so impatient

The racquet spinning is very, very irritating. I remember the first time I reanoticed he did it. And from then on, it was all I noticed about him ,and he seemed to do it between every point.
I'm waiting for him to drop the racquet. <childish>

@RaraRachael Birmingham is on iPlayer

RaraRachael · 22/06/2024 07:29

Great thanks. I much prefer watching ladies matches

Raahh · 22/06/2024 12:21

The Hubi/ Sascha match has started, but Sky is annoyingly showing Berlin. Hmm.

Looking forward to the Thompson/Musetti match- don't really mind who wins, but leaning slightly more towards Lorenzo. I'd love him to win the tournament really. Fingers crossed Seb Korda will beat TP.

I think Jannik should beat Zhang in Halle later - but he's not had a straightforward tournament, all 3 set matches so far, and very close against Struff.

Raahh · 22/06/2024 13:11

Hubi takes the first set on a tie break.
And Lorenzo/Jordan are just starting.

Fizzywinegum · 22/06/2024 13:12

I’m torn between Musetti and Thompson - I wish this was the final really

I’ve just watched the Federer doc - I found it a bit of an emotional rollercoaster - it was interesting - the friendship between Roger and Rafa is lovely

I’m feeling a bit fragile (hungover) today but I was an emotional wreck seeing Roger and Rafa at the Laver Cup - it was funny seeing Matteo defending Sonego to Rafa after their little spat at Wimbledon

Roger’s life is so perfect - perfect house, perfect kids, perfect wife and parents - he even parks his perfect car perfectly Grin

It’s definitely worth watching if you’re a tennis fan - a bit too much Novak though - it’s weird as Norris was at the Laver Cup but he never speaks and no one talks to him - they were all probably wondering who he was!

Now shall I spend all afternoon watching tennis or do something useful?

Raahh · 22/06/2024 13:24

I agree that this would make a good final.

I need to watch the Federer documentary. His life does seem a little too perfect. really Grin.

Funny about Norris- I had forgotten he was there!

IceandIndigo · 22/06/2024 13:25

I don’t mind who wins out of Lore and Jordan. I think if Jordan wins he has a chance of a Wimbledon seeding, whereas Lore will already be seeded. I think Jannik will beat Zhang quite easily.

IceandIndigo · 22/06/2024 13:26

I want Hubi to win Halle, although wouldn’t be too upset if it was Jannik.

Raahh · 22/06/2024 13:30

Good point about Jordan's seeding , Ice he will be a bit of dangerous- Struff in the draw if he isn't seeded!

I would also like to see Hubi win in Halle- same reason I wanted Struff to win yesterday- Jannik won't be short of titles, and this is a big chance for Hubi. And he's always so nice.

Raahh · 22/06/2024 13:46

Well done Hubi!

Raahh · 22/06/2024 13:47

(I'm confusing myself a bit, switching between the two). Grin
