Looks like we need a new thread.

Plain Satin is not an appropriate clothes choice for a whole day, let alone a doctors surgery AND a lunch date.

martinisforeveryone · 02/05/2024 14:27

Raahh · 02/05/2024 14:17

martini I think it's a shame that Michelle has been brought in now as little more than an Emma substitute, with no real plot lines. She's a really good actress, and she has good chemistry with most of the cast members. I agree she seems like she could cause some mischief as an ally for Al! Grin

100% seconded.

Cattyisbatty · 02/05/2024 17:20

Michelle is great, I know she’s acting but she seems like as a doctor who’d actually listen to you. I had one of those types once but he was a locum and moved on … 😞
He actually said to me ‘we’ll sort you out, that’s what we’re here for’ and actually recommended some tests.

Raahh · 06/05/2024 13:45

I didn't realise it would be on today (because it's a bank holiday)- and then it started early!!

Raahh · 06/05/2024 13:48

I often wondered how Kirsty rang doorbells- didn't realise she carried a handy stick!

doctorsnoddy · 06/05/2024 13:49

Sunni really needs to spill the beans about the rival bid

doctorsnoddy · 06/05/2024 13:50

I don't think they can sack you for not being able to drive Scarlett

Raahh · 06/05/2024 13:52

I would hope not! She couldn't when they hired her.

Raahh · 06/05/2024 13:55

Just watching the scenes with Scarlett and Rob talking about driving is bringing back awful test memories. I hate driving. It's a necessary evil.

Raahh · 06/05/2024 14:03

So she was damaging his eyes.

EventuallyDecluttered · 06/05/2024 14:47

Oh, I could have watched live today 🤦‍♀️completely forgot. It feels like a Sunday with everyone at home.

Cattyisbatty · 06/05/2024 15:09

@Raahh - same here re driving. It’s a necessary evil for me! I passed 4th time in my 20s as well with a few gaps inbetween instructors 😆
Luckily dh is a good driver.
DS has already failed twice - he’s gonna leave it until after uni now - he’s actually a good driver but his anxiety definitely did not help under test conditions.

I had my first lesson on my 17th birthday- everyone in my family are just 'naturals' at driving. They don't under stand why I felt sick at the thought of even getting behind the wheel. I passed on my second attempt- but don't really know how. I drive as little as I need to. I'm 52 now Grin. Dh is more than happy to drive, fortunately. it's convenient though- but I am one of those people who doesn't 'do' motorways!

Ds is now 21- and due to medical issues, had to jump through hoops to even get a provisional licence- he's actually a really good driver. But with covid/the cost of lessons/ and the fact his licence was only for a year and then not renewed Hmm - he can't be bothered now. Fortunately, he lives in the city centre and can walk to work/ he's doing a degree apprenticeship.

I am really confused today. It feels like the start of a holiday. Keep having to remind myself, the dds are back in school/college tomorrow!

Cattyisbatty · 06/05/2024 15:51

@Raahh I’m the same age as you as well! I’ve never ‘done’ motorways - I did a bit of the A1(M) when younger but I never got the knack of long-distance motorway driving. I only drive v locally now like an old lady 😂
I visit DD at uni on train and he’ll drive to DS for the day as he’s nearer.

Raahh · 06/05/2024 16:00

Catty I think it was very much the done thing to learn to drive at our age, and no-one questioned it- and I was older in my year (my sister was young in her year, so desperate when it got to her turn). I went to uni (after I passed my test) in the middle of Wales and didn't drive for years, because I didn't need to. I only got a car later because I worked shifts at an airport and public transport was pretty useless at at 4am!

But I rarely drive further than a few miles nowGrin.

MadisonAvenue · 06/05/2024 17:30

We lived in a town centre up until a few years ago so had public transport within a few minutes walk away and I never had a need to drive, in fact I’ve always lived where public transport is readily available but we moved a few miles out and I’ve had to learn.
I’m still learning, at 54.

I had my first test, and failed, two weeks ago. Still miffed about it. We don’t have a local test centre now so I have to go to Wolverhampton. My instructor has been showing me the test routes for months, developing my local knowledge around housing estates on the outskirts of the city. I drove into the city centre once because occasionally that’s a test route but not very often, according to him.

Sod’s bloody law, I had to drive into the city on my test but not the way I’d gone on the lesson (in fact all but a mile at the start and end was new to me) and I failed because I got into the wrong lane at a junction.
When I told my instructor he said he knew that junction well as I’m not the first person he’s taught who has failed there as the signs are really misleading - which begs the question, why the hell didn’t he prepare me for that?
And to add insult to injury, I did a perfect parallel park which obviously counted for nothing.

Raahh · 06/05/2024 17:51

That was the other problem Ds faced, Madison as he would easily have done lessons and probably passed his test in the time he had his licence- but because of Covid messing everything up, none of the local centres had spaces for months (and he could hardly get the lesson time). oh, and he broke his wrist anyway.

I think someone was trying to tell him not to bother! Grin

I do hope we find out that Scarlett aces her test, because the whole storyline is making me anxious! Grin(and in real life, she has probably been driving years!).

Raahh · 07/05/2024 13:48

No, we think 'That's annoying Paige'.

Afternoon everyone.

Raahh · 07/05/2024 13:50

Seen that kitchen window before.

Oh- Michelle does house calls now?

Raahh · 07/05/2024 13:51

Scarlett's outfit is another clashing delight.

EventuallyDecluttered · 07/05/2024 13:56

Big tap! Yes we've definitely seen that house before. I think Zara and Daniel lived there at one point.

Raahh · 07/05/2024 13:57

Surely someone has explained to Zach how serious his mother's condition is?

EventuallyDecluttered · 07/05/2024 13:57

Should Paige be broadcasting everyone's medical needs round the waiting room?

Raahh · 07/05/2024 13:58

She's like a foghorn.
