I enjoyed the Mandalorian rather more than I thought I would

blazethrough · 14/04/2024 18:35

Oh and Schitts Creek... same reasons as Ted Lasso. Awesome characters, lots of life lessons and general feel good factor.

The Last Kingdom - history nerd DH suggested it. I couldn't watch it fast enough and cried when it ended!

I was going to say the same. I have rewatched an embarrassing number of times Grin

Saucery · 14/04/2024 18:36

The Office US
Detectorists
Both suggested by DS when a teenager.

More recently, Norsemen. DH was watching and it just caught my eye. I thought it was just another Viking-y Netflix thing Grin

BiggerBoat1 · 14/04/2024 18:36

Succession. Would never have picked it, but my DS got obsessed by it so I thought I'd give it a try. Best TV I've seen in years and I miss it now I've watched it all!

ontheflighttosingapore · 14/04/2024 18:37

Breaking bad

Detectorists. I thought DH was mad when he said it’s a show about metal detecting….

Same here. I thought it was going to be about a group of blokes poking about in the dirt. It is - and SO much more.

After Life ... wasn't a fan of Ricky Gervais but that is possibly my favourite series ever.

This Life ... watched the first episode as I couldn't reach the remote control for the tv and cba to get up and turn it over. Loved it!

TeaSoakedDisasterMagnet · 14/04/2024 19:09

Line of Duty. Was staying with my mum for a few days and was hooked. When I got home I made DH watch with me from the start and we loved it.

Deathbywhy · 14/04/2024 22:41

Ted Lasso for me as well, I was properly gutted when it finished

namechange301 · 14/04/2024 22:43

Stranger things - my DD made me but I really got into it
GoT - I avoided it for literally years and my colleague kept telling me how amazing it was. I didn't like the sound of the whole dragon thing. I finally took her advice and binged the whole lot during lockdown. Best thing I've ever seen.

Pallisers · 14/04/2024 22:49

New Tricks. Dh started watching it and I walked in and was hooked. It got us through the pandemic. For some reason we call it Nice Work though.

Friends recommended Ted Lasso to us so many times back in 2020 - finally watched it last year. So good.

Whatineed · 14/04/2024 22:50

I finally watched The Sopranos last year after a friend was surprised I'd never watched it while it was on TV weekly in the late nineties. Watched the first one with them, went home and binged every night for weeks.

Can't believe I missed it all these years. It was always on a bit late for me then. I felt cheated. 😂

JennyForeigner · 14/04/2024 22:54

In keeping with another thread today, Bluey.

No, you have something in YOUR eye.

Giggorata · 14/04/2024 22:55

Buffy the Vampire Slayer!
Years ago, my young admin wanted to rush off home to catch Buffy on TV and I sort of scoffed a bit at the title, but she put me right and said no, it's not anything like as naff as it sounds, you'll really like it… she was so right.

  • Star Trek: Voyager
  • Black Books
  • The 10th Kingdom
  • Only Murders in the Building
DemBonesDemBones · 14/04/2024 23:02

Money Heist.

paristotokyo · 14/04/2024 23:03

Breaking bad also. DH kept going on about how I must watch it and it was the best thing ever. It really was! Was suprised it made me laugh out loud in places. Wouldn't have picked it myself and actually I did watch randomly put it on years ago before DH but turned it off after 10 mins as thought it wasn't my thing.

Moonshine5 · 14/04/2024 23:04

The Real Line of Duty on Amazon prime

Koptforitagain · 14/04/2024 23:06

Breaking Bad. My DH told me about the storyline and I said no thanks. Its a great show and Better Call Saul is great too.

colouringindoors · 14/04/2024 23:11

Ted Lasso

Followed my brother's recommendation and am soooo glad I did. Wonderful programme.

Crispynoodle · 14/04/2024 23:45

Stranger things DD persuaded her Dad and I to watch it we binged it! Also Game of Thrones which was great especially in that we recognised some locations near where we live!

SilverSimca · 14/04/2024 23:49

Reservation Dogs
Spiral
Both shows DH was watching so I missed the first series, must go back and watch them

SheerLucks · 15/04/2024 00:05

thedendrochronologist · 13/04/2024 22:54

Stranger things! Husbands idea and I love it

This! My DD16 spent months going on about it and then persuaded me to watch all the series again with her.

I'm so invested now - all the main characters are so likeable and I can't wait for the next series!

On paper it's so not my thing, but it's bloody brilliant.

SwordToFlamethrower · 15/04/2024 01:40

Ted Lasso. Would never have watched a program about football in a million years, if my son hadn't convinced me.

Absolutely wonderful series about the divine masculine
