CBeebies bedtime hour

taliac · 27/03/2008 16:46

According to the Sky listings, Night Garden is being replaced by 64 Zoo Lane in the CBeebies Bedtime Hour as of this weekend..

Anyone know about this? My DD is not going to be happy.. She says "igglepiggle time" when she wants to get out of her bath!

Course, give it a week and she'll be over it but even so..

I'll be glad to get rid of bloody storymakers though! I was beginning to think that there was some important unwritten law that said it had to be on at 6pm every day

I did think though that there might be a few disappointed small people whe I saw INTG is being taken off. Surely it is a bed time programme?

ratbunny · 28/03/2008 21:51

Noooooo! It can't be true!!!
I will have to make a concerted effort to record the 10.30 one and play it back at bedtime.

naturalblonde · 28/03/2008 21:56

OMG this could be a disaster. Up and down the country there will be upset children refusing to go to bed without ITNG. What are cbeebies thinking? Don't they realise they have a responsibility to parents with regards consistency of scheduling??!!!

taliac · 28/03/2008 21:56

DD1 has taken to walking round saying "imagine, imagine story mummy!"

I will not miss it.

ITNG however I really will. How very pathetic of me!

F*ck me. What am i supposed to do? DD associates ITNG with bed time. No ITNG, no bed. This has been tested on numerous visits to places without TVs or without CBeebies. We have no DVD player, just Sky Plus. If the schedules change tomorrow I have no tome to store lots of episodes on Sky Plus. I am actually beginning to feel a bit sick. Might have to go and wake DH up just to moan!

taliac · 28/03/2008 21:59

Tonight, in preparation for the Great Change, we had no TV at bedtime and instead read books.

I was all ready for the storms of protests. But there weren't any. So I think the one who likes the set "bath, ITNG, bed" routine is, um, me.

Oh dear.

my ds will be sooo disappointed, he loves night garden, he does the igglepggle dance every night!!

Looks like i shall have to bring in his dvd from the car.

ratbunny · 28/03/2008 22:02

the reality is hitting home now - we are staying at friends over the weekend, and so we will miss it before bed on monday!
ds has made up his own sign for the tombliboos and ITNG! I change him upstairs, he whinges and I say 'night garden?'. he signs it, and wanders to the stairgate to go downstairs.

we should protest to the bbc!

Flibbertyjibbet · 28/03/2008 22:08

and a bit

I suppose they have to switch the programmes around to get more children interested in more programmes and therefore demand more merchandise.

StressTeddy · 28/03/2008 22:10

They change it so that when you send in a Birthday card to be read out it's now out of date and won't be shown beacuse it doesn't fit with the schedules

(not that this has happened to me for the past 2 years )

Miggsie · 28/03/2008 22:13

Oh so there IS a God.
I have seen every story makers at least twice, even DD is complaining and Night Garden drives me mad.
DD came upstairs the other day saying "it's that one where they lose the children mummy and it's silly so I'm going to bed".
How DOES she remember them, don't they lose the children in every episode?
Charlie and Lola...thank God!!!! The acceptable face of benign children's programming.

soph28 · 28/03/2008 22:16

I think it's a shame. ITNG is a fantastic bedtime programme- for ALL the family . My 2 love it and so does my neice. I think we'll cope without it but it is sad cos it's lovely and 64 Zoo Lane does not compare.

Oh well, I hope they bring it back soon. I don't really rate the reason being given
'We have had lots of requests from parents asking for a new line-up of shows to give viewers who only watch at bedtime a chance to see different shows.'
Well let your child watch some TV at a different time then and if you're bothered about them watching TV then surely it doesn't matter what's on in the bedtime hour!

CatIsSleepy · 28/03/2008 22:19

oh nooooo....
have just started watching ITNG with dd and she is obsessed with IgglePiggle
bugger

ceebee74 · 29/03/2008 11:41

Can I just add to this how very inconsiderate of Cbeebies to do it this weekend of all weekends - DS's routine is going to be messed up cos of the clocks going forward so this is just going to add to the confusion

Ah well, better go and think how I can fool DS into thinking it is bedtime tomorrow wthout ITNG

PuppyMonkey · 29/03/2008 12:10

OH MY GOD JUST SEEN THIS THREAD!!!

No more Iggle Piggle...

No more Blue Cow!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!

MadamePlatypus · 29/03/2008 12:57

Surprised that they are moving Storymakers, but I thought there had already been some breaks from ITNG in the bedtime hour.

Anyway, I imagine ITNG will be on I-player for atleast a week if you want to use a gradual withdrawal method.

southeastastra · 29/03/2008 13:06

the zoo lane theme tune will drive you barmy eventually

ds2 loves ITNG and saying goodnight to iggle piggle. happy they've brought back rubberdubbers tho. he loved those!

midnightexpress · 29/03/2008 13:36

Who on earth would want to watch ITNG at 10.30 in the morning? It's all about going to bed fgs.

Hrmph.

quint · 29/03/2008 13:42

I love Zoo Lane and the song is great. As for Charlie and Lola - can;t wait

Honestly Bedtime hour is for the children not me!!!!

smittenkitten · 29/03/2008 13:58

the phone number to complain is 08700 100 222. I spoke to a real person who was v sympathetic and said they'd pass the comments on. I urge all other outraged parents to do the same - if they made this silly decision because of complaints hopefully we can get it reversed!

LaComtesse · 29/03/2008 14:03

64 Zoo Lane is a bad example to set kids though - get put to bed and promptly climb down the giraffe's neck to run around with wild animals.

My dd used to love it .

Phoenix · 29/03/2008 18:07

Ds (2.2) is stood here doing round the garden on his hand like they do at the beginning of ITNG now he knows the bedtime hour has started. I'm trying to tell him it isn't on tonight but he doesn't understand . I've got 1 sky+ if he kicks up a fuss but if he doesn't seem too bothered i'm not gonna bother with it.

MadamePlatypus · 29/03/2008 18:15

Have to say our household prefers Charlie and Lola to ITNG. Television schedules change. Its a valuable life lesson.
