Has anyone else been watching via iPlayer rather than waiting for week by week broad cast.

I was goint to do this, but was so bored halfway through episode 3 I sort of gave up.

Maybe it picks up towards the end?!

Not helped but what seems very muffled recording of voices. Dont they check before broadcasting? Cant be that difficult to get cast back in to over dub.

I just finished this and enjoyed it. Poor Aileen though!
I'm glad there's going to be another series.

I thought the same thing as you, IwantToRetire why do detectives always have to have some trauma going on?
Divorce, drinking too much, family member murdered or in jail. Its a bit predictable now.

I don't know if anyone has watched Black Rain but that's the same, it's a good story but main detective full of angst!

IwantToRetire · 24/03/2024 19:54

According to news articles series 2 began filming last month, although this video promo for series 2 seems to hvae been released last year.

But I think series 1 was screened in Ireland long before the UK so maybe they did already know a second series would sell!

(has very strange AI type voice over!)

I’ve just finished this and so intrigued for the next season!! It has to be someone relevant so I also thought the sergeant?? He led Diana and Richter to Rose and possibly framed Friends? I don’t know, so many questions!
I said all along it was the mayor but didn’t suspect the sister to be involved. I thought Sinead was so weird when she met her in the hospital that maybe Sinead was involved herself, totally unaware!
I also really struggled to hear what Buster said about Diana’s mum but assumed it was an affair. I do think there’s something more with him and Wiki, one of them definitely knows more than we do but I think it’d be too obvious for one of them to be the killer?
Gosh, I hope it’s not too long til season 2!

BanditoShipman · 25/03/2024 23:52

Can anyone explain what Ronan (?) was trying blackmail the mayor over? If it was the waste why would the mayor cate? Wouldn’t he just shut down the plant?

musthorse · 26/03/2024 00:11

The mayor wanted to bring tourist business back to the town as it had suffered after the mountain murders.
Yes the mum and the big guy had had an affair!

musthorse · 26/03/2024 00:11

Buster and Diana's mum. I'm assuming this was her body that was found .

diddl · 27/03/2024 18:11

I really enjoyed that!

So Colin Friends was the "Mountain Murderer" & someone else killed Diana's mum?

Or did Friends hang himself because of what he was doing at work & someone put the trophies in his house to make it seem like it was him?

Who sent the pic for Aileen to find, who knew where she was going & who would want to kill her?

Ok I want to know who it is now, what an annoying ending.

I had my suspicions about the Doctor for some reason.

And why did the guy who killed himself have a box with bones in as well? Is it some sort of cult?

I really enjoyed the show and created an account just to talk about it with some people haha

I was suspicious of the Doctor the whole time too. I think maybe he is the killer. He knew Diana's Mum and was treating her, he's someone that might be trusted by the missing tourists, he looked after Colin's wife and could plant evidence there, he even could have killed the drug overdose teen as he was looking after him.

Tauranga · 29/03/2024 23:04

@CallistoWarrioQueen I agree! I think the doctor is the mountain man.He could have planted evidence and he was a bit smarmy. I think he killed the poor druggy teen also. Looking forwards to the next series!

diddl · 30/03/2024 16:00

Dr is a good shout!

Don't want it to be Bruce!

Obviously at the end Aileen wasn't going to say the name as that would give it away!

But of course it also suggests that it's someone she recognises but doesn't know their name.

deborahanne20 · 01/04/2024 19:25

It is so boring I am falling asleep. I am at the beginning of episode 4 and I am not going to watch any more of it. Please leave a synopsis somewhere for me when series 2 has ended.

deborahanne20 · 01/04/2024 19:26

I am at episode four and falling asleep it is so boring. Let me have the plot at the end of series 2. Yawn.

RaraRachael · 02/04/2024 00:31

Wasn't particularly engaged by it and found the NZ accents and sound quality difficult. I like everything to be tied up if I've spent nearly 6 hours watching it, not having to wait for a new series to be made - by which time I'll have forgotten what happened in this one!

evtheria · 02/04/2024 16:56

Phew, glad there's a spoiler thread as I had no one to discuss this show with:

was FUMING it ended on a cliffhanger, and such an old fashioned/cheesy one as well (gasp ...You?!!)

I think it's the Doc.

Tokerers · 04/04/2024 00:14

Bored the pants off me. Too slow, lack of drama, limited characters. Have given up after 3 episodes.
The only laugh out loud moment I had was when the Irish copper said, "English Bastards" with reference to the oppressive great great great great grandfather who shot the other fella's great great great great relative.... A wonderful moment of bonding between two people on opposite sides of the World whose ancestors suffered at the hands of the bad old English slightly ruined by the fact that the guy's surname was Gordon, which as everyone knows is a Scottish surname. Less well known is that a disproportionate number of "oppressors" were Scottish. It reminded me that the English still cop the crap for every wrong doing throughout history even when it was Scots doing it. Lazy writing....

thecaptain777 · 16/05/2024 07:59

I believe the reason Buster called Diana's mother's death a suicide rather than the murder it actually was, is because he found out that the Goatman was Pastors' Uncle Ken (which is the secret Pastors is holding) and killed him. I think it is Buster who shows up at the abandoned farmhouse when Aileen is there but doesn't hurt her. She maybe tried to run from him in fear and cut or hurt herself somehow. I think he will tell her the secret he has been keeping all these years and she will not print it because of the affection she has for Wiki, his wife.
