I loved it the first time.

I loved it even more the second time.

Lesley Manville is fantastic.
Lisa McGrillis is so brilliant as Kelly - she's got the character to a tee, I love her!

Anyone else want to join in my love fest?!?

I just finished watching this for the first time - brilliant series! I don't know how I missed it the first time round.

Turmerictolly · 01/03/2024 07:24

Where can this be watched?

MrsJamin · 01/03/2024 07:44

It's all on iplayer. 18 episodes in total so it doesn't take long to get through them!

jamswell · 01/03/2024 11:58

I'll watch anything with Lesley Manville, Stephen Graham or Toby Jones in

Sk8erboi · 01/03/2024 19:36

I've started watching it off the back of this thread.
Please tell me the mum will tell them all to FUCK OFF at some point?
I'd have blown my top in episode 1 if I was her, I'm on episode 4 and no sign of her having an outburst yet.

justjuggling · 02/03/2024 03:19

Oh I loved this. The actors and the writing were wonderful. Only watched it once so going to binge it all again when I’m on annual leave in 2 weeks!

garlictwist · 02/03/2024 03:31

I stared watching this on the back of this thread too. I'd never heard of it before. Love it. I'm four episodes in. It's such good writing. Pauline reminds me of my mother 😁

She handles them so well in her own way, @Sk8erboi

Can't spoil it for you!!

Love Mum, brilliant TV. Although I'm still hoping they'll do a special called 'Sunday' at some point.

JoanChitty · 02/03/2024 15:47

I liked the little glimpses of their lives. When Cathy had crisps for dinner because her mum hadn’t cooked. Her husband David who was such a great bloke or was he? Derek who had a chequered past. Lovely characters.

martha4clark · 03/03/2024 10:42

I rewatched all three series over the last few days and loved it again. "You melt me like f butter Cathy" is my favourite line.
And yes, would love to see how they are all doing now.

vincettenoir · 03/03/2024 10:59

Yeah I love it. It's really funny!! Derek's nasty gf is such a good character too.

Twatneighbours · 03/03/2024 13:31

Have started watching it and loving it. Only thing is Jason is doing my head in the way he is a dickhead to Michael and taking the pish out his accent. As a fellow Scot it's really grating on me.

Tenmus · 03/03/2024 20:00

I LOVED this, but I think in the final series some of the characters were getting too unrelentingly horrible without the redeeming edges of earlier series. It was almost unwatchable.

duc748 · 03/03/2024 21:05

I loved this too. Lesley Manville is always good.

Conniethecatapillar · 03/03/2024 22:10

I loved it too watched 3 times! I'd say one of my favourite programmes of all time.

AmaryllisChorus · 03/03/2024 22:13

It's brilliant isn't it? All the actors are perfect. And Lesley Manville is outstanding in everything she does. I love watching her.

But I only saw it once. I found it excruciating, how long it took for her to do something for herself.

She takes a VERY long time. You learn to tolerate her patience Grin. I could hardly bear to watch it for that reason but it was so funny and the acting so brilliant.

MrsJamin · 04/03/2024 15:55

I think it makes you wonder how much she relied upon her husband and it took some years after his death to really grasp that she had agency of her own?

JaninaDuszejko · 04/03/2024 16:34

I don't think she relied on him, I suspect she put up with quite a lot. But grief is complicated, especially after a long marriage. And I think the entire family relied on her to support them through their grief, Jason in particular.

candgen625 · 04/03/2024 17:44

I've rewatched but still can't figure out what was happening with Pauline and her husband in the second to last episode.

Also love reg and Maureen. Beautiful written characters

MrsJamin · 01/03/2024 04:22

Twice here. If watch it again! It's a gem of a piece, everyone has reasons why they can be a bit of an arse. Mum just soaks up alll of their foibles... Until she doesn't. Leslie manville is so great in this "alright, love" whenever Kelly says something she shouldn't. The moment when Kelly's mum says something unexpectedly beautiful and loving... It was just so well done.

What was it that she said, do you recall? I remember being really touched.

rooftopbird · 04/03/2024 22:21

I really liked Mum but I love Here We Go more.

BeaRF75 · 04/03/2024 22:27

I love "Mum" - it's brilliant. Every word and interaction is spot on, and nothing is wasted. I do always think that the deceased Dave was probably a very difficult person to live with, and Jason is at risk of turning out just like him.
