I think actor playing Tom is good and the abuse very correct.

He's saying things which she knows don't make sense,he's accusing her of stuff but he's doing it to her.
He is confusing her.
He is trying hard to get her to quit working so he can trap her with a baby. Much much harder to leave once you have a child together and no money of your own.
He's making remarks about her family so she doesn't confide in them.
He's brain washing her.

The suspense is very good ,gripping.
