She is currently watching a marathon Scooby Doo session, how do I do this without it kicking off royal?

Pah ha haaa ha haaa

good luck with that

ja9 · 24/03/2008 19:46

what time does she go to bed?

NutterlyUts · 24/03/2008 19:46

Bribe with chocolate buttons

K999 · 24/03/2008 19:46

Tell her 'no'?? Is it not time for her bed anyway?

WallOfSilence · 24/03/2008 19:46

You are the adult.

Tell her it's bed time.

Failing that, tell her it's time to cut her toenails

TrinityTheProgressingRhino · 24/03/2008 19:46

it must be her bedtime anyway

DeeRiguer · 24/03/2008 19:47

put her to bed
or
tell her daphne is now peggy, alan is ian beale etc..

Jane68 · 24/03/2008 19:47

Bedtime!!!!! Do I sound like I have any control, haha the toenail trick, worth a go.

it's rather late for a toddler to be up isn't it?

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 24/03/2008 19:49

Ehhhhhhhh my 7 year old is in bed.

Jane68 · 24/03/2008 19:49

Daphne as Peggy what an interesting idea? How do we account for Shaggy?

Carmenere · 24/03/2008 19:50

You just say, get upstairs and put your pj's on, I'm going to watch Eastenders. What a strange op? Have you learnt nothing from mn?

Twiglett · 24/03/2008 19:50

I hope you're joking about the control issue

misdee · 24/03/2008 19:51

my toddler is in bed, older two aren't yet.

Jane68 · 24/03/2008 19:53

No where sleep is concerned, its tears and tantrums. i work 9-5 I don't want the time I spend with her to be a trauma, if she hasn't napped during the day she will go to sleep about 8.30 ish. If shes been to nursery and had a nap it will be nearer 10 o'clock. She just doesn't seem to need much sleep.

Sorry, but the words rod and back spring to mind.

K999 · 24/03/2008 19:56

But dont you have to have some boundaries? ie about when bedtime is etc? Surely it is better for her to have an established bed time routine, going to bed at the same time every night?

TrinityTheProgressingRhino · 24/03/2008 19:56

sheesh
I'm very late today with bedtime for my 3
they are usually away and in bed for 7
they are 8 on sat, 3 in a few weeks and 13 months

we have had a late bath tonight and daddy came in late

I thinkg you need to exer4cise some tough love right now so that you get some order and THEN you can enjoy your time togwether

BexieID · 24/03/2008 19:57

Tom loves the Eastenders theme tune, so no problem there!

He too is still up, just had dinner and is now eating a yoghurt. His usual bedtime is about 10:30pm, but I work 3 nights a week and have to pick him up from the in-laws. Not ideal, but it works for us at the moment.

Jane68 · 24/03/2008 19:58

No the one area which has escaped boundaries is the sleep routine, she is bathed and jimjams with milk at 7.00 then sits with me till she goes asleep. We tried the bedtime story straight to bed for a couple of months when she first went into a bed, it meant we spent 2 or 3 hours with her in hysterics.

I'm gonna step down and apologise to you jane68
sorry
I had the same with dd2 till she was 23 months
she WOULD nOT go to bed
It took us 8 months to sort it out and it nearly killed me

K999 · 24/03/2008 20:00

I can symapthise with you. I did this with dd1 but did NOT do it with dd2.....I could not bear going through all that again tbh. I understand what you are saying about working full-time but it really cant be good for either of you to be up so late? I am shattered and in bed myself usually by 9pm!!!

Jane68 · 24/03/2008 20:01

But I do enjoy my time sitting with her, I don't see her all day, we have a good chat.

Jane68 · 24/03/2008 20:02

I've got my way, luckily Scooby Doo finished and I swipd the remote control when she wasn't looking, a small victory for the slack Mum.

TrinityTheProgressingRhino · 24/03/2008 20:02

how old is she?

Also, I cannot comment as I am aSAHM so I dont know what it is like not to see my children all day
I imagine that you would definitely like to have some time with her in the evening
