I love MAFS Australia, and it's started again this week in Oz. Does anyone fancy a watch along? I watch on SouthHemiTV.

Already desperate to discuss the first two couples.

I know, and Jono was all “she doesn’t give a shit about me”. Even if that’s true you are 40 years old and that’s old enough to know to be the bigger person and give her a warning. At least, if you don’t wanna do that, don’t turn up and snog the face off the woman she caught you texting!

Im also not buying that Lauren was nasty. Jono thought that because he was an Olympian Fence Sitter/People Pleaser that he was immune from criticism.

I laughed when his example of her nastiness was “you called me a dog!”. But when Jack called Lauren a dog, Jono just said nothing and then the next day professed his love for Jack.

I've always thought Michael was a bit of a dick, Stephen was too, but seeing his past, he has the right to be one I think (well maybe not, but...). I've always got this off vibe about Michael though, he does the gay stomp and leave really easily and I didn't get it when he didn't talk things through with Stephen when Stephen told him about the kiss with the hairdresser (I prob would've stomped and left though!), I do think Michael and I think someone even mentioned it here, he can be a bit drama queen like, I think Stephen is not as much like that, not as much diva-ish. And I do think it was totally wrong of them to have paired Michael with Stephen after the first guy left as Stephen did feel like he was sloppy seconds. Michael is very good at doing the upset, hurt, 'how could he do this to me?' about the first groom leaving the experiment but the producers were all over that, that bloody ixpert John almost relished telling him that the groom called it off. John is so insincere!

OMG - I realised I got Eden mixed up with Ellie in my last post here earlier! My bad.

I always did think Ellie came across as too good to be true, and as I mentioned on a pp, too much botox and other PS means she can't show emotions well.

You see, I haven't seen the latest ep yet so I haven't seen the reunion. But, what if, and I can't believe I'm quite saying it, what if, Ben is actually the good guy or better than how Ellie made him out, she maybe gave him a lot of her bitchy side, and he wanted nothing to do with it, so that's why he was blowing hot and cold (but he is a Gemini too... go figure!)?! I'm now wondering if maybe Ben wasn't as bad as he's been made out to be.

Lauren's great - she can be a bit bitchy, I'm not denying that. But she generally tells it like it is, calls people out and doesn't give a rats arse if she does it or how she does it. That's why everyone likes her. The ones who don't like her, like Jack, don't like her because she can see straight through their lies. I lump Tori in with that a bit. The ep with Tori where Tris got given the keyring and gift card/voucher, I thought Tori looked a bit untrustworthy, but maybe it's just the way she looks? I do feel for her a bit though, she hasn't got the best figure out of all younger women there by far, she doesn't seem to be a gym bunny (I'm not) and she's also not the sharpest knife in the box either but likes to think she is.

Is it just me or do there seem to be 2 sh video websites? The link shared was to a MAFS with ads in and has a white background whereas the one I usually watch has no ads in and a black background. The latter site still is not showing the latest episode.

I've seen some spoilers re the reunion etc - my gosh - Jonno is a piece of work isn't he? I'd never have thought that of him. He really seems like a nasty man with a lot of issues (there's a huge spoiler about him if you go on DM comments with articles) and as I said before, I knew Ellie was too good to be true. It's a shame though really.

That is exactly what I said in my post here. Maybe the way they edit it, Ben's made out to be the bad guy whereas it's Ellie who's the real snake in the grass (unfair to snakes really!) and Ben is not as bad as he's being made out to be.

I feel like rewatching it to see if I can view it from a different perspective. Ellie came across so badly it’s unreal.

I think we should probably be aware of the way they edited it again as well. There were a few shots where it looked like Sarah and Tim were actually sat away from the rest at the end of the table while they were arguing but still kept cutting back to Jono and Ellie laughing. I'm not saying they weren't gross but I imagine they weren't as bad as they seemed.

Ellie claims the outburst was aimed at Sara who said something about her wanting more screen time, and Ellie replied that she left in week 5 before the outburst to counter. That editting makes sense, but the smug insensitive self centred attitude couldnt have been edited, she must have behaved that way, even if the name calling wasnt directed at Lauren

There was a post showing Ben's actual journal with his dislikes and either they were deliberately taken out of context by Ellie or Ben's delivery was bad.

His point was not that she wore make up but that she took ages to get ready presumably leaving him sitting around bored for hours

She wasn't too emotional but any discussions led to emotional outbursts rather than any resolution

He didn't dislike the fact she was from the Gold Coast but that long distance relationships are hard.

Etc etc. So could have been poor delivery by Ben or a misunderstanding by Ellie

This actually makes more sense.

It sounds as though he was talking through the things he was worried about between them rather than taking her apart. It's perfectly reasonable to be concerned about distance and to bring up how annoying it is to be kept waiting for ages while she gets ready. That actually is what they are supposed to do by way of honesty.

I mean, I'm not going to forgive him for the guitar serenade - and I still think he's a publicity seeking bellend, but I think he may be a genuine case of a bad edit.

And it may not have been either a bad delivery or a misunderstanding, but Ellie sympathy farming. Every time Ben was a knobber, Jono jumped to her defence, so it may have even been an attempt to get his attention.

Not saying she's that manipulative, but...it's possible.

Did you see her face when the highlights reel showed Lauren and Jono had sex on home stays? He had definitely not told her that!

Ooh - interesting re Jono and Lauren having sex on homestays, I'd thought he was a sexless creep even before he was outed as being one.

The cutaways to his responses were always gold.

There's theory floating around that Tori walked out because she suddenly realised they had the bad couple edit.

They don't see any of the season at this point and she could have been told by her producer that sticking by Jack was making her look strong and loyal and planting doubt about the intentions of others.

Years ago Olivia said that throughout filming her producer kept telling her she was going to be the nations sweetheart and everyone would admire how she was standing up to Dom.

So it wouldn't surprise me. Totally delusional on both their parts if the case but still .. x

Watching the dinner part and omg Ellie is a cow! And Jono....all those words that come out of the side of his mouth with his stupid squeaky voice 🤣

Olivia had said to all and sundry that she had a bad edit and wasn’t that mean. But I’m not buying it - the chicken neck thing, the sharing of the photo, lying about Don waving a broken stem about and the proud declaration that she doesn’t have empathy…how can she ever think she was gonna be a sweetheart.

Olivia did an interview on the So Dramatic podcast very recently and talked about the edit in detail. It’s worth a listen. For example she claims that a lot was removed from the broken wine glass event. Her story is that they couldn’t have run the story about Dom’s photos without her permission and they wanted to show it so promised Dom a great edit in return.

I’m not 100% convinced but it’s interesting listening.

There was an interview with Adrian in the UK series where he said Australia and the UK have different laws with reality TV.

From what I can recall Aus reality TV own all footage and can cut and paste anything recorded.

So if Lauren makes a face or says 'fuck off' (for example) it can be cut and spliced throughout the series.

In the UK /US you can only show someone saying something at the time they said it.

You can edit it but not change the context.

Olivia has been pretty vocal about her edit since the start but the interview the other week is the most detail I’ve ever heard from her.

I'm so old that I used to watch Laguna Beach.

I thought it was total reality but if you listen to them all today it was all cut and spliced.

They also got them to read 'wild lines' which they recorded after filming.

So if someone was not in camera shot and said something controversial it was probably a cut from previous footage or a wild lime they were asked to say post filming.
