The four-part story follows a keen metal detectorist Martin (Neil Morrissey) and his brash, wheeler dealer son-in-law Ashley (James Buckley) who, on a 'bonding trip' to Somerset, stumble upon a buried treasure worth millions, and that's where their troubles start...

Finders Keepers follows the story of Martin (Neil Morrissey) who is a keen detectorist. While he goes to rural Somerset on a boys bonding trip with his son-in-law Ashley (James Buckley), the discover a hoard of buried Saxon treasure and it's potentially worth millions.

Legally, this find should be declared, but wily Ashley spots an opportunity to look after No1 and as pressures are building at home between Martin and his wife Anne (Fay Ripley), usually straight as an arrow Martin can’t help be tempted by what Ashley proposes.

If they sell it on the black market, they could be set for life and Ashley has the connections to make it happen. But with a hoard this amazing, could it really be that easy? After all, they might not be the only ones out for its spoils...

Leading the cast of Finders Keepers is Neil Morrissey as metal detectorist family man Martin Stone. Neil says: "If you met Martin in real life, you might be bored by him! He’s a local historian, he has a small engineering firm, and nothing exciting ever happens to him. But he is under financial pressure, and you find out that his daughter’s fiancé, Ashley, is also facing money trouble through his own naivety or idiocy!

Gregory [art dealer] is in the kind of business where he's dead crooked and trying it on not offering enough money . Martin knows it's worth more than double .

The Police are watching the shop as they're suspicious of Gregory but I think Martin and Ashley are caught on the camera .

I think the overdue bills are from Martin's business .

They're doing an illegal deal and the son in law is talking about it so everyone can hear when he gets downstairs!

I think most dramas start off slow. The exception of course being Happy Family! Ace right from the off.

I watched ep 1 on catch up yesterday. It wasn't the kind of show I wanted to binge, it can wait. Not sure I liked it to be honest, it seemed clunky and predictable. Also I can't stand the character of Ashley. Laura deserves much better.

Martin's business is an engineering company isn't it, they make small parts and stuff, he referred to knowing precision manufacturing when he was talking to the lady from the museum after his talk. I'm assuming he's panicking because of the £90,000 missing from his company's accounts and the accountant being AWOL including his contact details now being 'not found' with his email bouncing back.
So not only does he need money for Josh's care and a fancy upcoming wedding, but the business is in trouble and he's getting a new finance guy in because Laura was only helping out and she's moving away. It all risks falling apart.

I did think that either Rocky and Gregory were in cahoots to cut a deal without Ashley and Martin, hence the lowball figure on offer, or that just Rocky is double dealing wanting 10% of whatever Gregory pays them plus a share of the true figure Gregory would be willing to pay eg Gregory offers £450,000 and so Rocky gets £250,000 plus his fee from the £200,000 supposedly on the table. I've reconsidered that though.

I'll probably watch again just to find out what Ashley's mixed up in, but I'm not that enthused about it, not yet anyway.
