I do think the dancers get quite a raw deal.

I agree with you about men's suicide. However I also think if his family are not currently saying that's the cause of his death we should respect that and also not say it. We don't know for sure anyway, even if we are thinking we can make a good guess.

It's always tough in circumstances like this, you have to respect the family's right to privacy whilst balancing it with the acknowledgment that mental health issues need to be discussed in order to help others feel that they are not alone.

I am aware of a recent case in my own line of work where a senior woman has committed suicide after suffering PND. Her family released a statement saying that she had suffered "a short illness" and her funeral was held very quickly with no friends/work colleagues invited. It's utterly heart breaking.

I don't know the truth, but I do feel dancers need to be better supported through illness whether physical or mental, and paid better, given the judges get paid so much for a much easier job. Robin appears to have had terrible back problems, along with other problems.

I hope Amy is getting support.

It is a precarious profession - footballers get testimonials, there is an actors and musicians benevolent fund, teachers' unions have a hardship fund in place.
A Dance professionals fund exists but I am not sure how many high profile dancers would have access to it. Whilst injuries are par for the course, you'd have hoped the BBC would have insurance to help post-injury.

This still isn't respecting his family, is it? I haven't seen Vincent say anything - not on his FB or Instagram, so I can't comment on that but at the end of the day they're friends, not his family. Kristina alluded to it but didn't outright state it was suicide. So I think we need to show respect.

By we I guess I mean you since I'm not assuming cause of death. I don't know it's a reportable post but it's not very kind.

I noticed today that his family released a statement asking people (the press mostly I guess) not to speculate and that they will release a further statement in due course.

He was before my time of watching Strictly (having looked, he was eliminated with Deborah Meaden before I started watching during that series) but it's shocking and terribly sad news.

He was a great pro - exactly who you'd want if you wanted someone kind and patient but who wouldn't make you into a comedy skit. He did such a lovely job with Patsy, Anita, Lisa, Deb (and Alison for a Xmas special) but also did Children in Need: whereupon I'd totally forgotten Angela Rippon was a part of that. I wonder why she wasn't asked to do a full stint earlier as she looks very good here.

Nikita's going into Celeb Big Brother apparently.. interesting choice! I might have to watch it, hope he's as likeable as he comes across.

That is interesting. I'm not going to watch CBB, but I'd guess that he'll come across very well and get a bunch of votes.

Brendan's done a few reality comps but never did celeb BB. I'm surprised (he did the sheepdog one after all! )

You look at the names and wonder why some haven't done Strictly when they've done Celeb BB/I'm a Celeb/Dancing on Ice.

It used to be said that you couldn't do DOI and do Strictly as well, but surely at some point, the sleb booker's going to run out of people. There's an overlap now but ex-Strictly going on to do DOI rather than the other way round (only John and Angela have done DOI first and John was an early boot/Ange a first boot).

Marisha Wallace has stepped down as Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls, where she stole the show. She's a big character, I think she'll be a good casting.

I absolutely loved her in Guys and Dolls. The whole show was marvellous. I cannot recommend it enough!

Nikita went in with a fashionable suit with a kind of frilled shoulder sash, which we all declared looked like a giant scrunchie.
Sharon Osbourne declared from her Secret Lair that he was pretty.
He gets on quite well with Love Islander/DOI/Traitors USA alumnus Ekin-Su. They knew each other from The Weakest Link and were the first two to enter the BB house (after Sharon and Louis Walsh but these were sent on a secret spy mission).
Nikita had correctly guessed he wasn't actually the first official housemate and allegedly shouted Hello at the walls for half an hour until Ekin's arrival.
Louis Walsh is shipping them as he thinks they get on well.
Showmance, fauxmance or not, both are tight-lipped about partners (Ekin is single but rumoured to be dating a Traitors co-star) Nikita has an actual girlfriend though so not mentioning her at all/admitting he is in a relationship in the VTs is either strategic or foolish if flirting on screen.
Nikita has also been dressed up as a horse, with a real wife of Cheshire Lauren riding him in a sleb horserace. As bad as it sounds. Think Extras. He then picked CampDavid from Ibiza to go to the party, as the latter nearly died/hyperventilating on said same course, sweating cobs.
Nikita has also been washing up, which is a decent tactic in there. It looked like he led a little bit of dancing in a group singsong ode to BB in front of Louis, but not proper dancing.
MNetters on the TV thread didn't realise he's straight irl and he was compared physically to George Michael.

In my defence, I'm having a shitty week so using Sleb Twaddle TV to distract me ... Sequinsxxx
