Nadiya is, apparently, "6ft tall in heels" so it's doable. She's 5'7".

Bobby is only 6'2" and I'm surprised at how much taller than everyone he looked. DS1 is the same height but I guess we are a tall family so don't notice it.

Richard Osman is 6'7" so a foot taller than Nadia. He has also said that he won't do it.

EvilRingahBitch · 17/12/2023 13:57

I think the height difference between Nadiya and Richard Osman isn't more than Bobby and Dianne or Kristyna and Colin Salmon, but he's consistently said he wouldn't do it, and tbh he'd clearly be a terrible dancer. Little Alex Horne would be amazing but like Richard O he's too busy to spare the time.

I'd love to see Greg Davies give it a go. Maybe even Tom Davis from Murder in Successville.

And while we're onto visually impaired contestants, I've changed my mind about Chris McAusland who's funny but probably a dreadful dancer and I now think that lovely Amar Latif would be an excellent pick in the disability slot: the Paralympians are all nice but all come across a bit samey: even if they've got very interesting and distinct backstories.

SoupDragon · 17/12/2023 13:59

I still want Rylan to do it.

Blessedarethecheesemakerss · 17/12/2023 14:09

Maybe even Tom Davis from Murder in Successville.

He would be awesome! Probably did a little bit of dance training for the prison finale in Paddington 2 as well!

Riverlee · 17/12/2023 14:34

Bobby is only 6’2 - he looked alot taller (such long legs and arms). I still think he should have had a taller partner although by the end they sorted the disparity, instead of going for the youth couple.

We were out last night so have just caught up with the final.

so glad that Ellie won, even in spite of her wobble on her show dance. She was my favourite all the way through, and it's been lovely to see her improve over the series. Both she and Bobby were what Strictly is all about. That's not to deny that Layton is one superb dancer. OMG can he move, and DH said he'd probably never have to audition for a show in the future. It's just that he came into the show as a professional dancer which did give him an advantage whatever the judges said.

it's been a cracking series and these threads have been great. It's been really good to read everyone's opinions. Here's to next year!

Me too - completely agree.

Rob Beckett and Josh Widdecombe interviewed Angela Scanlon on the Parenting Hell podcast a few weeks ago. The interview was done a few days after she got knocked out of SCD so they spent a lot of time talking about it.

Safe to say neither Josh or Rob will be doing it any time soon, though Rob did say his daughters are big fans. He did the “T&C” in the Clauditorium last series and got to take the girls to the set which they lived. They also interviewed Anton on the podcast a little while ago.

When Bill Bailey did it they were interviewing Dara O’Brian who said his motivation to do it was to embarrass the hell out of his teenage kids! There were lots of jokes about The Curse and turning up to parents evening with a 22yr old Russian stepmom!

AboutYouTalk · 17/12/2023 15:39

I’d like to see Kevin Sinfield on it next year, absolute powerhouse of a man 🙌🏽
Freddie Flintoff and Stuart Broad also please!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 17/12/2023 15:41

Isn't Freddie Flintoff very poorly still?

Not sure what the extent of his injuries are but he’s training with the England cricketers, as in coaching them.

pickledandpuzzled · 17/12/2023 16:13

6’2” of delightfulness.

dapsnotplimsolls · 17/12/2023 16:20

Robin - Walk the Dinosaur (I know, I know)
Julian - It wasn't me by Shaggy
Kitty - You're my best friend

My big fingers crossed is to see Billy Monger one year. I think he would be amazing.

My Mum and I LOVE Billy.. Would be wonderful to see him do Strictly!!

That would be amazing 🤩 Wondering who he'd partner with?

He's 6'4" so Nadiya I guess, or Johannes who I think is the tallest male pro.

I'd love to see Freddie Flintoff on strictly , but his quite poorly after that crash I think ( I read this online ) and it is a grueling schedule

Sadly, I think Freddie is done with telly for the foreseeable. I follow cricket quite closely, and my understanding is that the poor guy has had a very tough time, both physically & mentally after the crash. He has now gone back to cricket to do a bit of coaching behind the scenes & firmly out of the spotlight. Also, he doesn’t need the money having received £9m in compensation for his injuries.

TitsInAbsentia · 17/12/2023 20:10

Only watching now so although you've doubtless debated all this previously I just wanted to say:

Amy - lovely! So glad she was there at the start :)

Judges picks - well danced by all but grossly unequal in choices - a week 13 versus a week 3 and a week 5 dance? Nah..

I loved Ellie and Vito's show dance - so much content (styles that you could recognise which is really pleasing, nice change from contempowaft and street n all that).

They all did so well, it was definitely all in the hands of the public vote (as it should be for the final).

I am so bloody pleased Ellie won 🏆

Was about to suggest the same in (Sir) Kevin Sinfield.

ChessieFL · 18/12/2023 08:17

I’m pretty sure none of these will ever do it but I would like to see:
Alexander Armstrong
Victoria Coren Mitchell and David Mitchell
Ruth Jones (would love her to do at least one dance as Nessa!)
David Tennant
Michael Sheen

Robin - Walk the Dinosaur (I know, I know)
Julian - It wasn't me by Shaggy
Kitty - You're my best friend

I would pay good money to see Julian dance to Shaggy's It Wasn't Me.

He could also dance to Sexy Lady by Shaggy, Sex Bomb by Tom Jones and that Bloodhound Gang (?) song about doing it like the animals on the discovery channel. Oh and that Liberty X song Just A Little.

I also want to see Fanny Charleston whilst pulling Fanny's disapproving face.

I hope the BBC reads these threads for inspiration.

How do they decide who does the Strictly tour?

Annabelle was on Lorraine today she is on the tour but not with Johannes. He has his own tour and not on the Strictly one...she is paired with Graz.

Craig pretty much runs the live tour. He invites the finalists and the semi/quarter finalists, and his favourite comedy duffer and then depending on what proportion of the top celebs accept the invitation he tops up the numbers with other crowd pleasing celebs.

Am I going to hell if I suspect that Johannes might be quite pleased to be "unavailable" to do the tour? I'm sure his close emotional relationship with Annabel was sincere but it seemed a bit too intense to comfortably continue for another six weeks on the road. Mind you, as a woman of roughly Annabel's age, this particular tour group strikes me as my idea of hell, though I guess Shirley, Anton and Craig would be fun to hang out with. Nothing against Layton, Bobby and Ellie, they all seem lovely young people, but I'd get a migraine sharing a tour with them for six weeks. Hurrah for Krishnan.

The absence of Nigel has probably put me off buying a ticket this year, but I am curious to learn how Krishnan does with Jowita. I suspect that he's going to have to up his game.

ilovebrie8 · 18/12/2023 11:16

Was Nigel not asked to do the tour or did he decline? She said they start training early Jan so not much of a break....
