You don't get A list actors etc but he was sporting elite.

OK, I stand corrected! I was actually thinking about male footballers (regarding earnings and needing a re-launch). Alex Scott was wonderful, battled valiantly through Neil's injury that year, and her Blackpool Paso is one of my all time favourites, especially when she celebrates at the end with her backing dancers like they've just won the match. I was gutted when she went out, I think she had potential to go to the final.

Yes Schmeichel and Shilton are both world class elite and super famous in their day.

All the footballers that have done it were pretty big stars, no peaked with a couple of seasons in league one and a plucky cup run. They have all been international stalwarts with long PL (or equivalent of their day) careers.

The cricketers are the good ones. Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson are probably available, and Broad turned it down this year, having put off his retirement (a magnificent decision). Flintoff would be wonderful. I'd root for him.

Good final I thought. Nigel should have been there instead of Bobby but heyho and actually I thought Bobby really upped his game for the final. Ellie sadly dropped hers slightly although it didn't matter in the end.
Layton was by far the strongest dancer but Ellie was most improved so I'd say a fair win.

I thought Nikita was a little bit camera hungry and tried to take the attention off Layton. He should be showcasing the celeb not himself.

I wonder if Amanda declined or wasn't invited? It was nice they included her in the VT although they would have been called out if they didn't.

So did I, @SoupDragon, and his Charleston is one of the best Strictly dances ever. I like his dancing - but not on Strictly.

As Broad's partner is a Strictly alumni (Mollie King) I suppose it will depend if she is supportive of him doing it or if she saw enough of the 'curse' to forbid him.
Do we have any idea if Freddie is physically well enough after his crash? I'd love to see him on Strictly.

I'd love to see Freddie Flintoff on strictly , but his quite poorly after that crash I think ( I read this online ) and it is a grueling schedule

I think the most famous person they've ever had was Jerry Hall. She just glided around like her renown would get her through.

How many tens did Craig give out all season? There were definitely less 40s than previous years.

I'd like to see Richard Osman, James Acaster or Josh Widecombe. Also Kimberley Nixon, Rob Beckett or James Buckley.

I think next year they’ll push the ‘inclusivity vibe’ even further as the same-sex couple has been done about four times now that I can remember?

I can’t remember the names of the two females who were part of the same-sex couple as I don’t recall them either being very good, or getting very far?

But yes….I think they’ll pull out the big guns on the Inclusivity next year and there will be a famous transgender contestant or something.

RO has a problem with his sight so may be hard for him? Plus he's very tall and I doubt could move like Bobby.

@Ulysees I read that as 'a problem with his height' at first 😂. But yes that's a fair point. And I'm not sure there's a female professional tall enough. I guess I won't suggest Greg Davies either then.

It seemed a bit harsh to list the males and not include Alex, I didn't want to give off a Joey Barton vibe.

I thought Layton's dances were really entertaining to watch last night, but in some ways a bit samey. Ellie's AS also was a very enjoyable watch, she redeemed herself with that.

Ed Sheeran would be fun. James Blunt. Not a fan of their music but they have great personalities and James is another who’d look great on the dance floor. Though…Ed is too much of an A Lister I guess.

Nadiya is, apparently, "6ft tall in heels" so it's doable. She's 5'7".

Bobby is only 6'2" and I'm surprised at how much taller than everyone he looked. DS1 is the same height but I guess we are a tall family so don't notice it.
