A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

Our list is cumulative so includes recommendations and favourites from all previous threads. Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. @SirVixofVixHall - wow wow, Seoul with snow. you lucky lady. Oh LDW. Have to confess it took me quite some time to see the appeal. Just a bit too angular for my liking but seen a few where he has played comedy as well as some interviews and the like and he seems to be a nice chap. I am still immersed in She and her Perfect Husband, need to start fast forwarding I think esp with SIG waiting in the wings.

It is BLOODY COLD. Not sure what the temp is now but more snow coming down and the airport said minus 6 yesterday, with colder temps later this week, Thursday the wind chill is going to be minus 20 !!!
We are all jet lagged, decided to stay in and DH is cooking, I fell asleep . Dd1 is asleep.

I was expecting the palace to be right by the road like that ! Astonishing to see it next to the huge modern buildings. Tomorrow we will have a more interesting day, today we all woke up at midday and we just pottered about in a fog of jet lag. Youngest dd is the least jet lagged, I was doing pretty well until we cam back again after our little walk about, I posted on here then fell asleep !

@SirVixofVixHall Looks ace! 😍 it needs to be really cold I guess for the true Korean winter/Xmas experience 👌 I bet the city has a totally different feeling in different seasons (well everywhere does of course, but the temperatures are extremer there). Busy day. Nipping in quickly without catching up to recommend this podcast episode by the Professor who wrote the article Saram posted a couple of days ago. He interviews an American now professor of Korean Studies who was in South Korea in the 70s/80s and was in Gwangju at the time of the massacres. It is fascinating listening. I also realised when he mentions a (real life) spirit wedding in passing & I knew exactly what he was talking about that I have absorbed more of the culture than I appreciated.

Seems both watching a particular webtoon that sounds v much like a k-drama plot, devils in human world etc! Also they have just watched Sweet Home 2 and tell me how good Train to Busan is!
