A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

Our list is cumulative so includes recommendations and favourites from all previous threads. Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. Lee Do Hyun looked a lot different in Sweet Home, which is the only thing I've seen him in. Is it The Good Bad Mother he was in this year? I haven't seen that yet.

Oh my gosh! AmVa! of course - a Healer reunion! It didn't occur to me til you said it, they vibe so well together & seem genuinely fond of each other. I liked episode 4 more than 2 and 3 - feel like the plot is coming together although you can kind of see where it's going....

cobol I meant to say I really liked Be Loved In House I Do as well - it is very sweet once it gets going, and I loved the way the dimpley ML's mum was so supportive and accepting when he came out to her.

And scene stealer Wan Wan the cat as well!

I was listening to a podcast talking about BL's and they made a point that really resonated with me - saying that, for women, it takes all the gender related bias and baggage from your own lived experience out, so you can just watch the love story and let the patriarchy work it out amongst themselves 😁..

Oh yes, Wan Wan! That was actually the moment I realised I was completely and utterly addicted to Asian drama, when I found myself happily watching a group of Tawainese actors looking for a cat 😂. Also the scene where he comes out to his mum is one of the bits I most remember about the show as well. It was very sweet.

Haha! Yes, I was genuinely concerned, like "surely nothing will happen to Wan Wan?" How could they not find him straight away with that giant bell round his neck?

Rowdy - what a super picture, h really is a chameleon. Another one doing his military service I think? Not started on Samdalri yet, wonder if I let a few episodes build up first. I do like an ensemble cast shows, so fingers crossed. So many drama and so little timer at the moment.

Kim Jae-young was v good in Love in Contract...uh oh, showing off my liking for contract marriage dramas again. He was also so oddly appealing in 100 Days my Prince. I forgot all about him in My Secret Romance. He is v versatile but seems to get the lovesick role a lot.

Well I have started Singles Inferno and I think they’ve designed it to create more conflict this year. So far the men have a very homogenous aesthetic. I’m only 10 mins in so that may change.
