Hard to call who will be in the dance off tonight.

Angela is popular on this board, but I still don't think she'll escape the dance off. I am predicting Angela and possibly Layton. He really didn't look happy just before the credits.

belgiumchocolates · 25/11/2023 20:45

Annabel is safe even if she's in the DO

dollybird · 25/11/2023 20:45

I voted 2 for Nigel and one for Annabel. The judges comments made me think they were going to score Nigel higher. And Annabel has made so much progress. I love Ellie though and sure she will (deservedly) win.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 25/11/2023 20:45

What a challenging life Jeff has had. Well done that man on raising his sons

ilovesooty · 25/11/2023 20:46

With the exception of Gio and Rose's dance a couple of years ago I've been pretty unmoved by contempo waft couples choices. Tonight was no exception.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 25/11/2023 20:47

My votes to Nigel as I think he's in trouble - it was rather dull

My favourites were Annabel, Bobby and Ellie so they got my votes. I’m not voting tactically. I’m voting for the three dances I enjoyed most.

If I had to guess, I’d say Angela leaves this weekend. But there’s no obvious boot candidate. They all deserve the quarter final spot.

ilovesooty · 25/11/2023 20:47

I thought from the comments Nigel would have been higher on the leaderboard. I think he should have been above Layton.

BadgersBumChin · 25/11/2023 20:48

I thought Laytons stupid trousers-trying-to-be-skirt outfit were detrimental to his footwork and Nikita’s Thatcher bow? Simply no-no-no, what a waste of a sweaty chest

LuluBlakey1 · 25/11/2023 20:48

I think Nigel and Bobby in the DO. I really didn't like Bobby's dance tonight, or the music, or the story, or the idea of the story- it was unnecessary and a bit if a gimmick. Mentioning Jade Goody is one thing, Annabelle mentions her husband. Interpreting the story in dance is quite another- awful. I think people will either get teary eyed or, like me, stoney-faced. Bobby could have shot himself in the foot with that.

belgiumchocolates · 25/11/2023 20:48

Ideal DO would be Annabel or Bobby agaist Layton . My votes are for Angela and Nigel

mydogisthebest · 25/11/2023 20:48

I voted for Layton and Nikita.

My favourite dance was Ellie and Vito but I think they should be safe.

I would like to see Bobby leave to be honest. I can't take to him and maybe I am a cynic but I find it hard to believe a 20 year old's favourite song is This Womans Work. I watch Strictly for fun not for sob stories

mrsfeatherbottom · 25/11/2023 20:49

I don't normally vote except for the final but I voted for Angela because I don't want her to go. Didn't think she should be at the bottom.

Yeah the styling was weird. Just the same old same old from Layton, give us something different next week maybe. Something calm and sophisticated.

Wolfofallstreets · 25/11/2023 20:54

Ellie Bobby Annabelle- surprised so many people voting for Ange. She wasn’t very good

nettie434 · 25/11/2023 20:54

On the previous thread someone commented on Jeff not being with Jade when she died but making comments about losing someone and wanting to call someone

I'm just relying on my memory here but I think Jade was admitted to a hospice for the last few weeks of her life and deteriorated very rapidly.

Her relationship with Jeff Brazier predated her death by some years. They - and Jack Tweed - were all very young to have to deal with death and the need to put the interests of the children first. I am sure Jade said that her mum was a heroin addict and that her dad spent time in prison.

EsmaCannonball · 25/11/2023 20:54

A walking tribute to Jade Goody? Oh god, did he storm into the audience during the warm-up and tell Dr Ranj and Vic Hope to go back to where they came from?

Anyway, that dance made me come over all Oscar Wilde and Little Nell. You know the silent episode of Buffy, with The Gentlemen? There were moments where he danced like one of the zombie/escaped lunatic types that caught their victims for them. I WILL BE FUCKING FUMING IF ANY OF THE OTHERS GOES OUT BECAUSE THIS SHITE GOT OVERMARKED! FUMING!

Yes, Nigel, you did fall for the whole 'decorate your whole house grey' fad and, yes, it is so depressing you just want to sit on the end of your (grey) bed and weep. (Seriously, ghost themed dances are always my favourite theme on Strictly. Alison Hammond's American Smooth, Greg Rutherford's rumba, love 'em.)

I am just obsessed by Annabel Croft. It's like I'm 10 again. Every week she exceeds my expectations. That was exactly my kind of paso. Craig is wrong; paso dobles do not have to be fiery and aggressive, they can be imperious and proud, and Annabel got that just right. Magnificent skirt-wafting, too.

The music stifled Ellie's Argentine Tango, but didn't Vito look incredible? His fashion choices on ITT need to be taken in hand. He always looks as if someone has tried to tear his clothes off him. Which, I suppose, is entirely possible.

Angela's cha cha was very Week One Cha Cha. Think she will be in trouble.

Layton should have used that song in Blackpool Week, with a big classic Hollywood production. The choreography and the styling was a bit muted.

With the exception of Gio and Rose's dance a couple of years ago I've been pretty unmoved by contempo waft couples choices. Tonight was no exception.

The only one I ever cried at was Will Bayley and Janette.

I got choked up for Rose & Gio, but more for the beauty of the dance and their connection. Will's story just really got to me.

Piggywaspushed · 25/11/2023 20:57

winniethedoo · 25/11/2023 20:40

Bloody hell, there's a lot to unpick there! Jeff's clearly a great dad (and I like his decorating choices!)

So he named Bobby after his not real dad?

chaosmaker · 25/11/2023 20:57

Angela always looks like she's caught in the strait jacket of Irish dancing from her younger days. Stilted and stiff.

Ebokebok · 25/11/2023 20:58

No one should ever be allowed to sing Kate Bushes work. It's sacrosanct.

The mood of Ellie's AT was completely lost with the ridiculous music choice.

And what in gods name were Nikkita and Layton dressed in. Are the so-called wardrobe dept taking the actual piss.

MrsDotCotton · 25/11/2023 21:00

The problem is with referring to Jade is that unfortunately there was a load of bad press with her and the racism in Big brother. Sometimes things need to be left in the past.

Butteredtoast55 · 25/11/2023 21:01

I am surprised at so many votes for Angela. She was terrible at the start of that dance and it didn't get much better as it went on.

awaynboilyurheid · 25/11/2023 21:01

Loved Ellie and Vito! Didn’t get it needed more intensity at all suggested by Craig and Anton.
Liked Angela , but low scores from judges.
Annabel did really well too, love Johannes.

I like a more traditional American smooth so wasn’t that keen on Leyton/ Nikita

BogRollBOGOF · 25/11/2023 21:02

Votes to Angela who I've consistently enjoyed, Annabel who's developing week on week, and Ellie because I think she's got the strongest package for the win.

Bobby's wasn't the worst contempo waft I've seen and the scoring was reasonable.
Again, Nigel's wasn't the worst rumba. He's not really lived up to the potential at the launch and it's been a bit of a big dipper.
Did not like Layton's. The costumes were distracting and while a decent character dance, wasn't an American Smooth and he's still not nailing the specific technique each week.

I think the dance off and elimination is pretty open. Only Ellie strikes me as being safe on talent, consistency and vote popularity. There's no one left who's clearly run their course and behind the pack, and no one had a terrible week.
