I do confess Lakita in breeches doing Hamilton might have been sexy. And I always have time for a cowboy (goes off in reverie to a Kingsman routine in my head with a suited eyepatched sleb hoing down with Gorks as Pedro Pascal!).
I have loved Krish, Joe, Layton in guyliner, liked Will's bollywood salsa harem pants and have always had a soft spot for Jojo in heels. I don't need the male pairings to look masculine but sometimes the outfit will work for me and sometimes it won't: same as Harry Styles - I like him in some outfits but not in pussy bows or pearls.
David Bowie was sexy in everything they wore as was Annie Lennox.
Gender bending isn't anything new. People have been reinventing themselves for years.
I know Layton said he thought producers would be happy to have a trans contestant in the future but not sure who's high profile enough, I haven't heard from Paris Lees in ages. Slebs doing anything close to what Layton is doing in terms of gender fluidity would be women like Ruby Rose or, dare I say it as the forum will implode, Jack Monroe (if they chose that approach).
Unless you have a drag artist wanting to perform in drag and also as themselves, like Divina de Campo, then most trans contestants would dress as they present following their transition. To do what Layton is doing you need a fashionista/actor happy to present as butch or femme (Harry Styles and Billy Porter aren't going to do the show, let's face it, nor is Ncuti Gatwa), or an androgynous model who plays with looks like Rain Dove, or a sleb who identifies as genderfluid/ non-binary or someone who does burlesque like Dita von Teese.
I'd be happy to see a woman doing the same thing - it's a reason I liked Karen as a pro, as she can turn different looks. I'd be more than happy for a female same sex couple to switch it up. Sue Perkins rocks a suit but I think I've only seen them in a dress once. Jojo Siwa matched Jenna a lot of the time.
Non-binary actors who are frankly too big to do a reality TV dance comp include Bella Ramsey, Emma Corrin and Cara Delevingne.
Eddie Izzard used to veer between looks (I found them sexy with a beard circa United States of Tara/The Riches) but now they're Suzy, and still trying for a political career, I can't imagine them ever appearing either, although it would certainly be an interesting signing.
Boy George has always had beautiful make up (as did Julian Clary but he played it straight, camp but straight, during his time on Strictly as far as make up went).
George would be an interesting signing but he said he'd "never" do it when he was on I'm a celeb as he wouldn't be able to do the moves.
So I suppose I ought to treasure Layton while he's there, as there aren't as many gender non-conforming slebs as you'd think. Women have had the opportunity to wear dresses, jumpsuits/pants or suits but men traditionally haven't until recently - except Kenny Logan's and Hamza's kilts.
