And if you've now seen it, what are your thoughts?

I'm predicting I will love it no matter what. But look forward to discussing it.

He filmed it last year. The running on all fours reminded me of Us!

CaveMum · 02/12/2023 19:47

@Terfosaurus really? He died in 2022. I mean great if they did manage it.

SequinsandStiIettos · 02/12/2023 19:48

They filmed it in May. He died in July, aged 93.

CaveMum · 02/12/2023 19:49

Thanks everyone, glad that Bernard Cribbins did manage to take part.

ScremeEggs · 02/12/2023 19:49

Yes, it was filmed last year
He died last year too

ScremeEggs · 02/12/2023 19:49

Cross posted with everyone else as usual

SequinsandStiIettos · 02/12/2023 19:53

I enjoyed it on the whole. I did note they wrote in the Dr being gay/bi/bi-curious (15th might be gay then, Ncuti is openly gay irl) and did the pronoun thing with the female astronaut. Other than that it was quite a spooky episode although the first half an hour felt really slow.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 02/12/2023 19:54

Big sob when Wilf put in his final appearance.

Lorrymum · 02/12/2023 19:56

Really enjoyed it!
I feel a bit sorry for new Doc taking over from DT. Big boots to fill!

SequinsandStiIettos · 02/12/2023 19:58

Ncuti has great charisma though, is gorgeous and has a ready-made fanbase from Sex Education. He'll be fine I reckon. Looking forward to Christmas Day. Davina McCall and Anita Dobson are also in it.

ConspiracyFeary · 02/12/2023 20:02

I'm watching last week's one now and not sure I'm going to finish it. I love David Tennant and I love Russell T Davis but this just feels like it's trying to tick too many boxes. I'm currently stuck wondering how someone in a wheelchair accessed a crash site with serious industrial damage, and how the ship crashed carefully enough to allow the building to be perfectly wheelchair accessible.... And that's without the Rose and Meep stuff.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 02/12/2023 20:08

Seriously if you’re questioning how stuff happens on Dr Who maybe it’s not for you 😂

ConspiracyFeary · 02/12/2023 20:11

I'm a life long fan I know how it works 🤣

Binglebong · 02/12/2023 20:14

I enjoyed this week's far more.

the80sweregreat · 02/12/2023 20:25

Had there ever been ' Dr Who, the musical ?'
' is that a darlek I see ? '
'Where , over there 'etc?

ghostyslovesheets · 02/12/2023 20:41

That was much better - scary, good running and Wilf!

ScremeEggs · 02/12/2023 20:55

Big sob when Wilf put in his final appearance

Even though I was half expecting it (being spoilered last year by seeing an onset photo of him on FB - wish they wouldn't do that!)
I was still like yay, Wilf! Heart swell, was good to see him again

ScremeEggs · 02/12/2023 21:02

I agree it's going to be hard to top DT's Doctor, who's just the best New Who.
I'd say the best ever, but I've recently been watching John Pertwee's Dr on iPlayer and I'm loving his portrayal.
Excited for Ncuti's debut, I just get the feeling he's going to be great too. Hope I'm proved right 🙂

Lots of angry comments on X about Isaac Newton not being white

FreshWinterMorning · 02/12/2023 21:11

REALLY enjoyed it this week. It was fab! Grin

PinkFrogss · 02/12/2023 21:11

Lots of angry comments on X about Isaac Newton not being white

Because of course DW is known for it historical accuracy Hmm

SequinsandStiIettos · 02/12/2023 21:12

Blimey, how did they manage with Hamilton? Did they implode?

Simonjt · 02/12/2023 21:15

I did hope that Newton being played by a gay man of colour would make the homophobes and racists upset, I’m enjoying that they will be moving away from watching Dr Who.

terrywynne · 02/12/2023 21:16

Weirdly I have noticed that stage shows get a pass that TV doesn't. It's like we assume that because it is on TV or film it must be more accurate (even when it's sci fi or utterly inaccurate historical drama). I noticed the same thing when they had a black Anne Boleyn in a TV show v. SIX the musical which also has wives of Henry VIII who aren't white.

I can't decide if it is because people expect to suspend disbelief in theatre or because the people complaining about TV shows aren't the same people who go to the theatre performances.

FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge · 02/12/2023 21:18
