Definitely time for Angela R to go. Whilst what she has achieved is fantastic I've never warmed to her. There's something about her, like behind the scenes she's not very nice.

I was worried as Bobby definitely didn't do as well in the do wether it was tiredness or nerves but was still better than Angela.

Ellie and Layton definitely for the final with Ellie the likely winner. Although Layton is the ringerist ringer ever I do really like him. I think he will tone it down because he wants to be the best and get all the tens.
Probably Nigel in the final with them.

The other three I'd say Annabel is the weakest then Angela S then Bobby.

Re Layton, I can’t help but feel his Show Dance in the Final might be a let down as he’s putting all his flash moves into the dances now. Anything he does in the Final will probably be met with “seen that”.

Excellent point.
Surely his best go at a show dance would be a proper old fashioned ballroom.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 20/11/2023 07:52

Yes to Layton doing a proper old fashioned ballroom in tails with lots of spins and clever moves. You never know...

She did show up on that thread on here a while ago about celebrities people have met who were really rude. So did Nigel which I've never been able to shake because he comes across as really nice to me.

Maireas · 20/11/2023 07:59

I would ignore those threads. They're always contradictory and have inherent bias.

covetingthepreciousthings · 20/11/2023 08:14

So what dances do Layton & Nikita have left now? What do we think they will dance to Oh So Quiet?

They haven't done a Charleston yet have they. ?

covetingthepreciousthings · 20/11/2023 08:20

No I don't think so?

covetingthepreciousthings · 20/11/2023 08:20

Have they done a Paso? Maybe they'll do that to that music Grin wouldn't surprise me if that's what the producers had paired together..

No one can be perfectly lovely 100% of the time. It must be so irritating to have people go up to you all the time.

Has anyone else noticed an improvement in Tess’s presenting? She’s more natural, can’t put my finger on it but it’s like she just being herself.

That is actually true
There hasn’t been the annual get rid of Tess threads.
Motsi has improved too

lollipoprainbow · 20/11/2023 08:35

She's quite steely!! I wonder why Kai was so emotional.

She's keeping his puppy in one of her special cryogenic chambers and now that they've lost the dance-off she's texted Gloria Hunniford to switch the plug on?

Late to the thread so apologies if this has all been said/debated before, but Layton is literally a musical theatre performer. They even highlighted it in his backstory this week - he was the star of Billy Elliot - so not even any wiggle room to say "Well he went to stage school, but he's never done much dancing." If anything, he should be even better than he is - ie able to dance in synch with his partner, showcase some other styles of dance instead of just putting his own twist on everything. Don't get me wrong, I love watching him and Nikita, but he shouldn't be in this competition. Annabelle has genuinely started from scratch, Krishnan too - they are the real stars for me and show the true skill of their professional partners. Angela's farewell speech really brought this home - anyone can do well with a stage school dolly for a partner, less so with a 79-year-old. It was time for Angela to go, but I'd love to see Annabelle go all the way to the final.

Daffodilsandtuplips · 20/11/2023 09:15

I thought Angela Rippon was gracious through the whole Strictly experience. Yes, she did get carried by Kai at times but her stamina, grace and poise shouldn’t be minimised. To be able do those lifts, leg extensions, foot stamps , even jumping t the age of 79 is some achievement I can tell you. I’m 75 and need help getting my socks on,

chocolateisavegetable · 20/11/2023 09:31

There is nothing in the rules to say Layton can’t be in the competition. At least he’s not trying to hide his experience, so isn't actually a ringer ( by the dictionary definition of ringer).

But loads of them have done musical theatre and dance- Jay and Caroline, Danny Mac, Tom Chambers, Denise Van Outen, Claire Sweeney- Nigel has a degree from ArtsEd, was a cruise ship dancer and leading man in West End musicals. They all have the training, Layton is just a more gifted dancer.

Annabel trained in ballet and Ellie did jazz, tap and street- which is apparent.

Samcro · 20/11/2023 09:39

i found bobbys dance odd, it was good (not the do one) but he seemed bent over, with diane being so much shorter maybe he had to bend a lot

Lentilweaver · 20/11/2023 09:40

Was out over the weekend, so still haven't watched the whole show, but I was surprised Bobby was in the bottom two. I thought he had fans, and I also thought his jive was better than most of his other dances ( the height difference not as obvious). I guess Nigel and Annabel have fans.

I would like to see a really sexy number from Nigel, and also see him properly dressed!

whiteshutters · 20/11/2023 09:56

It looked like Bobby didn't know what to do with his hands in that dance so he looked a bit odd.

Minimammoth · 20/11/2023 10:06

I don’t get the Diane / Bobby drama. It’s a dance competition.

Minimammoth · 20/11/2023 10:08

He needs lessons from Nikita, who managed different heights perfectly with Ellie.

Agreed. And I know they have dancers in every year. It just makes it all a bit predictable. If they were learning to play tennis rather than learning to dance then Annabelle would obviously win.

covetingthepreciousthings · 20/11/2023 10:10

I don't think I'd enjoy watching the show as much as I do if some ringers weren't included each series.. I'd hate to watch a full series of absolute no dance training celebs. It would also likely mean the pros wouldn't be able to choreograph the trickier dances and show what they can do either.

I know Layton is a complete ringer but I do find it a bit off that so many people seem to think he shouldn't be there, yet Nigel who also has experience is a worthy contestant?

After the celeb payments were announced in a previous post it's no wonder people do the show, and Layton was obviously asked and accepted so he has every right to be in the competition in my eyes.

I don't know where you'd draw the line otherwise, ballet dancer years ago OK but west end musicals are a no go? It would be a nightmare to try decide who could and couldn't as many celebs will have some kind of dance background.

I agree
We all know that he is a ringer . However, he probably won’t win anyway .
I actually looked forward to watching him ( well Nikita) dance.
As you said, it gives us the opportunity to see what the pros can do. Nikita’s choreography has been great
For some reason when the pros have a really good partner ( and are therefore able to show their ability) the pros just look more attractive..
When Kai was partnered with AJ Odudu he just seemed more attractive because we were able to see what he could do
