This is desperate. If you're a parent please be as horrified as I am. Rochdale groomers still at it.

I’ve watched episode one and couldn’t stomach another straight away. Horrifying and depressing. That poor, brave man who survived the attempted murder with the axe.

newnamethanks · 30/10/2023 21:31

I've watched two of three. Things are horrific out there, it's just awful.

TetleyTeaForMe · 30/10/2023 21:43

I've watched two, I work in a related field, it feels very true to life.

Papillon23 · 30/10/2023 21:53

I watched all three this evening: it makes me realise how massively privileged and insulated I am from it all.

I think the police officers and the witnesses are very brave. I'd be scared for my life and my family's life.

snickersandmarsandbounty · 31/10/2023 00:29

watched it all, there has to be a way to stop these gangs becoming so powerful. It has also reinforced my disgust of people taking drugs recreationally ignoring these absolute bastards methods of supply.
V sad at the end

newnamethanks · 31/10/2023 15:02

Yes, I've seen the last one now. Can't help feeling that there's a lot more to be said about the WPC and her friends. Very concerning that she's still working. What a swamp. What hope of clearing it up when those standards of behaviour are acceptable in the police force? Well done to the team that saw it through, must feel like an utterly thankless task.

I was seriously impressed by the total cultural change from seeing teen boys as horrible scrotes who are choosing crime, to vulnerable children being groomed into crime.

snickersandmarsandbounty · 31/10/2023 15:33

I can’t believe the WPC is still serving as a police officer, all those calls back and forth and her interest in the trial and the inappropriate notes she made

orangetree99 · 31/10/2023 15:57

I've just watched all three episodes and found it shocking and agree about the wpc. I can't believe she is still working. Also so sad that Cameron Brooksbank, the brave man attacked by an axe has passed away

snickersandmarsandbounty · 31/10/2023 16:07

Utterly heartbreaking that he passed away, it did pass my mind that he might have been given a new identity and they have said this to protect him? I hope so

TheShellBeach · 31/10/2023 16:21

I was very surprised that the WPC was not charged or even disciplined.

It was distressing to discover that Cameron Brooksbank killed himself very recently.

Cameron just broke my heart. He was so brave standing up to the gang members at the time of the attack, and giving evidence against them.

I was so sad to read on the end notes that he had died, but did not realise he had taken his own life.

I was astonished to hear at the end that the WPC had not been subject had been to any criminal or professional proceedings. How can that be? The evidence seemed completely damning.

newnamethanks · 31/10/2023 17:05

Poor Cameron. I hope snickers is right although I fear not. As for the WPC, she's probably been transferred to the Met with a commendation. She'd fit right in.

Just watch episode 2.
if you catch them , keep them locked up, I understand that prison s are full but if your sentence doest’t copy the crime . Maybe making it a crime not a holiday camp.
make prison a place they don’t want to go to.
CPS should be disbanded, to worried about prosecution.

Where there’s blame there’s a claim.
no it’s crime.

newnamethanks · 31/10/2023 22:40

The CPS was formed to take away from the police the opportunity to stitch up anyone they happened to think deserved it. Too many opportunities for corruption when prosecution was in the hands of the police. The CPS is not 'too worried about prosecution'. It decides whether to prosecute only when there is sufficient evidence to make a prosecution valid.

I watched the first two episodes of this in 2021, but it was taken off and disappeared, probably because of the complexity of these trials. Utterly shocking the lengths these gangs go to. The other two episodes on other manchester gangs were horrifying.

I watched in awe of Cameron's bravery, going through the trial twice, and we probably don't know half the story on what they've done since (real threats etc) to read he took his own life yesterday is just so tragic. What a truly brave man.

DeadBugMountainClimber · 31/10/2023 23:02

WPC? It’s not 1975. It was shocking that there were zero repercussions for her though, I totally agree. No justice there and adds to the feeling that the police aren’t to be trusted.

The final note re Cameron was utterly tragic. He was so brave to go up against those guys the first time, so to give evidence in court a second time was extraordinary. His family and friends must be very proud of him for that.

Warehouuse · 31/10/2023 23:05

Correction on my comment, it wasn't yesterday, not that it matters. But yeah I agree re above, his family should be so proud of him.

whatchagonnado · 31/10/2023 23:21

Cameron should be recognised for his bravery. He's Astonishingly brave and has immense courage for standing up to these highly volatile and dangerous men. I salut him. Massively

BeadedBubbles · 31/10/2023 23:55

Cameron was amazingly brave and I was so shocked to read about his death (only yesterday?). I wondered if the programme airing had stirred things up too much for him. But I do hope snickers is right.

newnamethanks · 01/11/2023 13:12

I've no idea what the current term for a female police officer is, I don't know any nor do I expect to do so.. You evidently do know, Deadbug, please enlighten me. Although I expect everyone knows what I meant.

OP posts:
Sheisready · 01/11/2023 15:00

I too was surprised by the archaic use of WPC. Police officers are just police officers.

DeadBugMountainClimber · 01/11/2023 16:02

It's just "police officer".

DeadBugMountainClimber · 01/11/2023 16:10

The use of W, to denote that the serving officer is/was female, was officially dropped from use in 1999.

Golly, I never knew that.
