Just that really! Looking for TV/film recommendations (on any streaming service) that grown-ups & kids of this age can enjoy together. We loved Wednesday & Heartstopper and looking for a similar boxset or films we can get stuck into for Autumn. Nothing too cutesy American (we're not fans of the Descendants)

Not sure if this is what you're looking for but Bluey is great. Its really for kids (you'll find it on BBC) but I've been watching it with my DD18 and we both love it.

A Series of Unfortunate Events (Netflix) series rather than film is excellent and all of us genuinely enjoyed it.

Ghosts (iPlayer ) can be enjoyed at many levels.

Race across the world (i-player) is a good factual series that's nice family watching.

Ghosts! And mine also liked death in paradise - pretty gentle stuff

JustMaggie · 29/09/2023 09:21

"The good place" was quite fun

Neverwrestlewithapig · 29/09/2023 09:29

We enjoyed The Mysterious Benedict Society on Disney+

Good Omens?

DD is 10. We enjoyed Wednesday together. Taskmaster bleeped is hilarious. She really enjoyed watching Full House and Fuller House (reboot) on Netflix too.

Nicesalad · 29/09/2023 09:39

Mallory Towers on BBC iPlayer.

BadBadDecisions · 29/09/2023 09:51

My kids loved Fresh Prince at that age - the original with Will Smith, not the new one.

LaBobkin · 29/09/2023 09:53

We've just started watching Merlin on iPlayer, enjoying it so far.

SummerLightning · 29/09/2023 09:53

Lockwood and co was fun maybe a bit scary for 8 depending on kid though

stayathomer · 29/09/2023 09:56

Another for the mysterious Benedict’s society here, will have a think though

kikisparks · 29/09/2023 10:04

Enola Holmes or is that too violent? Home before Dark on Apple (child protagonist, again themes may be a bit dark for 8 yo though).

tenpoundpombear · 29/09/2023 11:52

My 10yo DD loves The Office and recently started watching Gilmore Girls with me.

She loved Heartstopper and found Lizzie Maguire on Disney+ which she also enjoyed.

purpleme12 · 29/09/2023 12:07

God I used to love this! Where are you watching this?

TrustPenguins · 29/09/2023 12:10

We like things like Lego Masters, Strictly, Bake-Off (junior), Ninja Warrior.. Not boxsets as such but good family entertainment.

purpleme12 · 29/09/2023 12:10

I know this isn't a fictional series or anything but my child is nearly 10 and we're watching Geordie Hospital together. She's really taken with it.
It's not heavy like most hospital programmes and it's quite upbeat. So it is suitable.

purpleme12 · 29/09/2023 12:11

And Is It Cake? As well

FionnulaTheCooler · 29/09/2023 12:13

I'm watching Charmed on Paramount Plus just now with my 12 year old.

Tumty · 29/09/2023 12:14

Have you tried inbestigators?
my ds love gone fishing with white house and Mortimer. But there is a bit of swearing

JaneKatSuttonGoals · 29/09/2023 12:16

Mine love Outnumbered & Shakespeare & Hathaway.
Watching Friends & Gilmore with 12yo currently but 8 year old doesn't like them.

Hamilton1 · 29/09/2023 12:21

Young Sheldon ! We all loved it as a family and have just watched the last series.

kikisparks · 29/09/2023 13:35

These are all great.

Hits here (as well as these) have been Modern Family, Young Sheldon - Gilmore Girls was also hit but I let them finish off the (many many) series without me because I find Lorelei wildly annoying!

Also Buffy (which you might think a bit too old for your 8-year-old yet, possibly).
