New 6 part drama. Starts tonight

2 episodes every sat so will run for 3w

Black Snow is a tense Australian crime drama starring Travis Fimmel as a cold case detective.

Black Snow is a six-part Australian crime drama starring Travis Fimmel of Vikings fame. It follows shocking events at a high school after a ceremony to open a time capsule that was buried 20 years previously, shortly after the mysterious murder of pupil Isabelle. Inside it is a highly cryptic message written by Isabelle which leads to a reopening of her murder case and turmoil in the town...

Black Snow is set in the small Australian town of Ashford was rocked to its core when 17 year-old schoolgirl Isabel Baker was murdered back in 1994. Her killer was never found, but when a time capsule buried a few weeks before her death is opened it reveals some chilling clues about the case!

Following two timelines, one in 1994 and one in 2019, this six-part drama follows Detective James Cormack, played by Vikings star Travis Fimmel, as he tries to crack a cold case that has haunted the town for decades. "James has a lot of issues, childhood issues that he’s still dealing with, parental figures, and I think that’s the reason he became a cold-case detective," says Travis. "It’s cathartic for him to investigate the case, but it brings up lots of painful memories.

Following the two timelines of 1994 and 2019, the drama delves into Ashford’s past and brings up heartbreaking memories for Isabelle’s best friend, Chloe Walcott (Neighbours (https://www.whattowatch.com/neighbours)star Brooke Satchwell) who still lives in Ashford.
Isabel’s death was also devastating for her younger sister Hazel Baker (Jemmason Power) who believes her family were discriminated against by the police because of their heritage as South Sea Islanders.

I've no idea who killed Isabel either @Blondeshavemorefun

So many suspects !

So James self harms because of the trauma of his father killing his mother and his brother disappearing.
He had won a soft toy from one of the grabber booths in the opening scene and then got the guy to beat him up thus re-enacting that awful night 😮

I thought he said he won the toy the night he ran away

Yes he did.
But he won a toy in the grabber booth in the bar before getting beaten up by the guy who he had asked to beat him up.
I think that new toy is a reminder of the one that he won on that awful night his Mum was murdered.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/10/2023 09:04

So why did he like being beaten up before his brother ran away then q

Halsall · 02/10/2023 09:50

Agree with LadyEloise, I think he’s trying to deal with the trauma. Reliving the beatings-up he was used to as a child, as a way of quietening the guilt he feels over not protecting his mother and the brother disappearing. His reaction to his father is one of extreme fear/reliving that night and he has to blot it out with pain, hence burning himself with the car cigarette lighter.

He is self harming because of the trauma suffered the night his mother was murdered and his brother ran away. Sad

There are so many suspects.
The only person I can rule out is Isabel's niece and that's only because she hadn't been born then.
Do we know who her father is ?

butterpuffed · 02/10/2023 16:30

Yes , it wasn't clear at the time in the first episode why he was being beaten up , but then we saw him burning himself with a cigarette lighter in his car .

I have no clue who Izzy's murderer is and only two episodes to go .

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/10/2023 17:45

I thought he won the toy the night his brother ran away

And that's the night he paid that man to beat him up

No, the brother running away was years ago, Blondes - the same date Izzy went missing. Presumably they were young, teenage sort of thing then, roughly the same age as Izzy. He got the man to beat him up in the present day. He still had the bruises the next day in the police headquarters when he told his boss he wanted to take this case.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/10/2023 22:06

I must take more notice @Halsall

😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/10/2023 09:17

I thought the blue siphon he won was from the night years ago when his brother ran away

And do I take or the dad killed the mum

As he said he didn't hear her crying after

Why is his dad in prison

LadyEloise1 · 03/10/2023 09:47

He won the toy in the opening scene if i remember correctly.
He either also won a toy for his brother on that fateful night years ago or had promised to win one for him - I can't remember exactly.
Yes his mother's murder is implied as the reason the dad is in jail.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/10/2023 21:05

5&6 tonight

Who will be the killer

OP posts:
longtompot · 07/10/2023 23:51

Not who I thought it was going to be!

BigLicks · 08/10/2023 00:01

Binged this and really enjoyed it.
Loved Travis since his Viking days 😍

Emotionalsupportviper · 08/10/2023 07:26

I've been as sick as a dog this last fortnight. We look after our grandson on Tuesdays, and he has just started nursery - he is like a little plague rat and we have caught all sorts off him (as has his other grannie and grandad!), and have been too ill to watch much. This sounds very good, though, and I'll give it a whirl now I am able to lift my head off the pillow.

Thanks!

Here is recap e5

Just about to watch e6 and find out who the killer is .....

I haven't a clue

Iwantacampervan · 08/10/2023 13:30

I enjoyed it and didn't guess the culprit. There were several loose ends which I would have liked to have been resolved. Is there a second series?

longtompot · 08/10/2023 14:26

@Iwantacampervan it does look set up to have another series. I do hope so

LadyEloise1 · 08/10/2023 23:59

So he thinks his brother is alive.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/10/2023 14:50

As it's been shown in going to talk about the killer

Admit I was a little confused

So victor, antons dad killed her

His father killed his gf

What a sick fuck

As Isabelle saw the two boys /cousins

One dead from an infection

And victor shot the other

Found her hankerchief and knew she has seen and why he killed her ?

Yes looks like brother is alive and visiting dad

Why did Victor injure the 2 boys in the first place ?
Who were they running from ? Billy ?
Chloe burned their passports.
I didn't cop on that Anton was texting Hazel with reference to their shared daughter, Kalana.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/10/2023 15:32

I don't think he meant to and boy just got an infection and died

Then obv had to shot the other one

My interpretation too.
