Just be binged the lot, have avoided it so far as I don't like DMC much but this was fantastic, I enjoyed it so much!

It's on iPlayer for anyone who hasn't seen it, I expect I'm the only one though 🤣

It’s brilliantly funny. I love Kerry’s facial expressions, she manages to convey so much in a single look.

megletthesecond · 27/07/2023 21:46

Aaaw, it's so good. Me and then 13yr old DS binged it in the pandemic.
His mind was blown when he realised Mandy was the matron in Malory Towers.

strongcupofTea · 27/07/2023 21:46

We loved it so much we made a visit to the village!

The blind man 😂

Poor little baby birds got their guts sucked out their arseholes cos of him.

Grin It’s so quotable!

mortgagequandary · 27/07/2023 21:55

Oh I love this

SushiSuave · 27/07/2023 22:08

Also love this show. Another family connection is that Len is their uncle

MadKittenWoman · 27/07/2023 22:19

The episode where Kurtan was trying to get the Vicar to take him to TK Maxx in Swindon was hilarious.

She was also a senior doctor in This Is Going To Hurt. Such a versatile actress.

EmmaPaella · 28/07/2023 00:33

Love this show. I also grew up not too far away and it brings back funny memories.

Yep, this country, gavin and Stacey, the royle family and Kath and Kim are all my comfort shows

I love Kath and Kim! God, so many brilliant characters and lines. Kel is so awful and his mate, Sandy Freckle! 😆😆

Roussette · 28/07/2023 07:22

And what about when Big Mandy joined the Book Club. Poor Vicar!!

DogDaysAreOverr · 28/07/2023 08:01

The happy hardcore music Kurtan gets the Vicar listening to 'wait for the drop'!

Big Mandy sleeping with her eyes open- and the whole tattoo episode- just brilliant.

The characters are so cleverly written and complex. Love it

Cattenberg · 28/07/2023 11:54

When I was at school in the 90’s, I knew a girl who was so much like Kerry, she could have been the inspiration for the character.

She had a West Country accent and wore a red football shirt. She wasn’t that bright and sometimes hung out with kids in the years below. In some ways she was very sweet and kind, but she was determined to be seen as “hard” and got into a lot of trouble as a result. She was once suspended for starting a fire - because a girl two years her junior had told her to do it.

And in those days, many of the boys in our year wore their hair like Kurtan. It all takes me right back.

“Oi, Vicar, your finger’s going up me arsehole, mate!”

Yep so funny 😆 loved this series.

FKATondelayo · 28/07/2023 13:32

I grew up in a town like this - Kerry is so representative of many of the girls there. "I got enemies in South Cerney, I got enemies in North Cerney, I got enemies in Bourton on the Water..."

We even have a Scarecrow festival.

usernother · 28/07/2023 13:36

I love this show so much, really really laugh out loud funny. Mandy is my favourite. They must have had such a good laugh making the series. Can watch it over and over again and I always notice something new every time.

greyhairnomore · 28/07/2023 14:58

Hilarious

SaleOfTwoTitties · 28/07/2023 15:09

I am going to re watch. Thanks for reminding me, op.
It's brilliant.

mizu · 28/07/2023 15:14

I'm going to re-watch too. They are SO good. We live not that far away and I grew up in the countryside. It is spot on.

Roussette · 28/07/2023 15:22

It's spot on for me too. We have our local ermmm characters here, honest we do.

When we first moved here, it was rife...
the local tearaway who loved mooning at passing cars at the bus shelter, the woman who set the bottom of her hair on fire on purpose for a bet in the pub (she won the bet), the old guy who did dry stone walling and nicked stuff out your garden given half the chance, (he lived in a caravan and locals would just knock on the door and say... come on, give it back, and that was that), oh yes.. very similar all of it.

Mooserp · 28/07/2023 15:23

And Len is their uncle.

TheNineNine · 28/07/2023 15:42

I loved it when Kurtan worked at the bowling club,

DreamItDoIt · 28/07/2023 15:55

Honestly when I first watched this I thought it was a serious documentary. I live in a village, say no more!

MaydinEssex · 28/07/2023 15:58

I loved it! I also watch it over and over again.
