😢💖

Loved every minute. It was an excellent documentary, really brilliant.

Oh the memories of the 'Wham Fantastic!' album!
Going to listen to it in my car later.

The photos of George I had plastered over my school files 😍

Agree with others that I didn't appreciate how important Andrew was at the time.

Wonder also did George ever discuss his sexuality with his Dad in the end, or did it remain a Taboo.

Also, D C Lee's involvement was largely ignored and her leaving glossed over.
Think she went on to marry Paul Weller..

Watched it last night. What a wonderful, pure programme. George Michael was a genius wasn't he! The only celeb death that really affected me. Would highly recommend.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 08/07/2023 07:17

Not seen it yet but I was a Wham! Fan and fancied George obvs. To me as a teenager that’s why I liked them too, they seemed fun, good friends and more importantly to me two best friends not in a group of them!

mrsnjw · 08/07/2023 11:17

I didn't know that Shirley was dating Andrew and that's how she got into the band. A great watch.

And the friendship between George and Andrew is so pure and genuine 😥

Absolutely, this was my main impression. Really beautiful, generous friendship.

DustyLee123 · 08/07/2023 11:19

Will those of us without Netflix be able to watch it at any point ?

TimeforaGandT · 08/07/2023 11:26

It was at the cinema for one night only last week before it went to Netflix. I saw it then and (as don’t have Netflix). It was brilliant.

the80sweregreat · 08/07/2023 18:05

I enjoyed this a lot
It was really nice to see how friendly they were

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 08/07/2023 20:16

Watching now, I love George so much, such a lovely man.

I still find it heartbreaking that he died so young and was on his own on Christmas Day 💔

KnitMePurlMe · 08/07/2023 20:18

@Girliefriendlikespuppies especially when he said in the documentary how much Christmas meant to him 😢

I agree! What a great documentary. Just finished watching it. The soundtrack of my childhood. Definitely had a crush on George. What a gorgeous and talented guy. So sad he died so young 😕 Miss his music 🎶

SummerLovingDays · 09/07/2023 01:28

I didn't realise how gorgeous, handsome and funny Andrew was. In interviews he always comes across as quite serious and straight laced.
But watching this documentary showed just how much personality and confidence he had when he was younger.
He really came across as a decent funny person.

Motnight · 09/07/2023 01:30

I loved this, George and Andrew were true friends.

cisisaslur · 09/07/2023 02:26

I just can't believe I fancied George and not Andrew. Andrew was so lovely

madamepresident · 09/07/2023 02:40

Watched it last night and really enjoyed it - made me realise what a huge talent George Michael had and how much he's missed. Also realised it's the first time I'd heard Andrew Ridgely speak. He was very good looking when he was younger.

LessonLearnedOrLearnt · 09/07/2023 06:23

Just watched it, lovely documentary.

However, I think there was a bit of revisionism going on because I don't believe for one moment that Andrew was ready to step away from fame after just 4 years with Wham!

George put his ego before the friendship. I wonder what would have happened if they'd stayed together as a duo and evolved. Maybe George would have ultimately been happier because, despite his huge success as a solo artist, his personal life was rather sad and turbulent.

Yes I agree. George did mention his ego several times.

RoyKentFanclub · 09/07/2023 07:50

We watched it on Friday and really enjoyed it. My recollection was that at the time the split was certainly not reported as being so graciously handled..

poorbuthappy · 09/07/2023 07:56

We came away thinking Andrew ridgley must be the most nicest man on the face of the planet.
It couldn't have been that amicable surely?

MrWhippersnapper · 09/07/2023 08:02

The two were close up until George’s death. I’ve read Andrew’s book. George made sure Andrew was well looked after with royalties. He made have had an ego but he was incredibly generous.

Yes also agree with this. He was known for philanthropy.

LessonLearnedOrLearnt · 09/07/2023 08:09

He was known for philanthropy

Was he?

Do you not know all the stories ?
I went to Andrew’s book signing in Manchester and in the queue was the lady from Deal or no deal who had her ivf treatment paid by George anonymously after he saw the programme. She’d brought her little boy to meet Andrew
