A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

but our list is cumulative so includes recommendations and favourites from all previous threads. Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. I am now totally addicted to My Lovely Liar and am getting through the available episodes at a cracking pace. It is such a good combination of romance and actual plot. Also love how the FL is obsessed with how much people lie but you see her lying about little things all the time (how clean she keeps her apartment and stuff like that). Think is is very cleverly done and ML is very beautiful.

Not sure, it appears to be a cinema release. I'm sure it will pop up somewhere 😁

Totally agree about the romance:plot ratio being perfectly balanced. The two leads have great chemistry. All I can say is it's a good job FL does not have to hear the bell ring every time she tells a lie 🤣 she would have been driven insane long ago!

I watched first episode of Destined With You (Rowoon) on Netflix yesterday and enjoyed it - it has started fairly light and silly but I can see it getting a bit darker/higher stakes. Vibe reminded me a little of DAYS but early days of course.

Also, how is Rowoon real? So handsome.

Oh thanks for the new recommendations. I am enjoying Doom immensely but had to stop watching before bed, as was just sighing too much😍 Started on Love to Hate You for some light relief and am hooked. Also, what is DAYS, tried to google but no luck. My Mum is coming down for the weekend, so will need to slow down my viewing. I think she'd like a lot of the rom coms but not sure has the patience for sub titles.

I’m all caught up with Moving so started the first episode of Revenant on Disney+. Kim Tae Ri is the lead. I am pondering whether she's a suitable Jooahn for our fantasy An Hour of Romance casting. She can do serious, she’s the right age for a noona romance with Woo Do Hwan. They would make a great screen couple. 😍 Thoughts?
