A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

but our list is cumulative so includes recommendations and favourites from all previous threads. Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. Enjoyed it very much but it was edited weirdly. I get the feeling lots was cut out. It was half the usual length of a C-drama. Also the synopsis about the contract relationship was wrong on Wiki. Was that a cut storyline?

That synopsis is so wrong FedUp (not even set in right city) that I think written before show even made and somehow stuck. I thought it was pretty well edited and coherent by CDrama standards but those are admittedly low! I hear this is the second in a trilogy that the director is making about Beijing life - the first is called Remembrance of Things Past (looks like its on YouTube) and is about characters in early 20s and the final part will be about kids and family life (not the same characters).

Oooh I forgot to say, I finished Uncanny Counter 2 the other day. And was v excited to see that in the European scenes (being vague to avoid spoilers) they said they were in Rudesheim am Rhein in Germany, because I also went there on holiday. Seems a quite random place to pick in the whole of Europe.

Oh no FedUp, no contract relationship? Shame for some reason those romcoms do appeal - odd! The first one I saw was Marriage Contract with Lee Seo-jin and Uee, my wordy it was a weepy! Loving the new titles...off to look on tiktok for 2pm concert 😉. I'd vote to add Love Like the Galaxy to the list, enjoyed it immensely.

I also enjoyed Love like Galaxy FL was irritating at times but it’s was alright as per C-drama standards.

Currently, I am not watching anything because of online novels. Which by the way are getting bonkers but I still love it.

1. MLs are now almost 7ft tall ( started with 6.1/6.2)
2. there is no concept of time - like FL will finish work, pick child from nursery (which by the way was conceived via accidental one night stand with filthy rich & handsome billionaire), then go grocery shopping, come home, cook 3-4 “simple dishes”, then cleaning plus ironing, short stroll of neighbourhood, bed time routine and it’s ONLY 9:30ish … HOW???
