This has been show a on britbox and ITVX but for me it’s new so looking forward to it

6 parts

need a good Saturday night thriller and fab cast in it

Crime is a six-part drama based on the 2008 novel of the same name by Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh, who also adapted his work for the screen. The story follows Dougray Scott as lead detective and troubled addict DI Ray Lennox, who is looking into the disappearance of a 13-year-old girl.

Dougray Scott (Mission: Impossible 2) leads the cast as DI Lennox, who is leading the investigation into the missing schoolgirl - and must confront the "demons" that previously consumed his life.

When 13-year-old Britney Hamil is kidnapped from an Edinburgh street, DI Lennox pushes himself to "breaking point" to locate her.

"He is driven by the secret, long hidden within him, of an abuse that touched his very soul," reads the official synopsis. "This detective inspector is not content with solving crimes, he sees the world in black and white, his mission to root out evil wherever he senses it.

"But passion such as this comes at a cost and we watch as one by one, Lennox’s relationships grow distant and steadily are replaced by those old false friends, a descent into the bottle and the powder beckons."

The rest of the main cast is as follows:
• Dougray Scott as Detective Inspector Ray Lennox
• Joanna Vanderham as Detective Sergeant Amanda Drummond
• Ken Stott as Chief Superintendent Bob Toal
• Angela Griffin as Trudi Lowe, Lennox's girlfriend
• Jamie Sives as Detective Inspector Dougie Gillam
• Michael Abubakar as Detective Constable Stuart McCorkel
• John Simm as Gareth Horsborough aka Mr Confectioner

Ahh I’ve caught up too far. I’ll not say anything other than I’m liking it but finding the other family members issues very distracting; they don’t seem to add anything.

I’m liking it too but missing a lot of the dialogue as subtitles not working bizarrely - says not available. I may have to binge this as I need to start Heat and Blindspot and another that I can’t recall.

I can't get subtitles and really struggle to understand why Dougray Scott is saying. Not sure whether it's that or the plot but I'm not finding it very enjoyable to watch.

*what

lazymum99 · 13/07/2023 08:08

I’m getting subtitles and couldn’t manage to understand Dougray Scott without. But I’m watching ITVX through a fire stick so maybe different

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/07/2023 08:23

I always have subtitles on as a tire mumble - I struggle with accents as semi deaf

Anyone watch e3 Saturday ? Behind so just about to watch now

martinisforeveryone · 17/07/2023 09:52

I don’t think I did. I’m a bit all over the shop with viewing.

VioletCharlotte · 17/07/2023 11:20

I think I need to watch it again. I spent too much time looking at my phone during episode 2 and have missed chunks!

duc748 · 17/07/2023 11:44

This passed me by, might have a look, as people seem to like it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/07/2023 12:01

It's good - only on e3 as tv paced. That was on Saturday 15th

I did like interview and Bob clutching his head and noooooooo as questions being asked

Obv ray recalled what he said at the aa meeting word for word

I wasn't sure about this at first but put the subtitles on and now I'm enjoying it . I like the bits of humour they brought in with Dougray and his boss .

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/07/2023 17:07

Always have subtitles @butterpuffed

I like the full sub-titles where they do the descriptions, like

<sinister music plays> 😀

RaraRachael · 19/07/2023 10:45

I've watched all of it - it was ok. Nothing spectacular.

NotDonna · 19/07/2023 18:40

Me too & a bit disappointed. I’m now binge watching ‘Before we die’ series one and LOVING it! There’s a second series to move onto. 😊

FedUpMumof10YO · 19/07/2023 18:44

I watched on Britbox. I didn't particularly find it very good.

Dougray performance wasn't brilliant IMO. There's a fight scene with him in which was dire.

RaraRachael · 19/07/2023 19:05

I agree with you both. No comparison between Crime and Before We Die - it's just what a crime drama should be.
Dougray's Fife accent can be a bit hard to understand for people whose usual experience of Scottish accents is Glaswegian. That aside, I didn't think his performance was great.

OP posts:
butterpuffed · 24/07/2023 08:46

Was that John Simm at the grave at the end ? I didn't recognise him but he's in the cast list at the beginning of Blondes' thread .

RaraRachael · 24/07/2023 10:34

Yes it was him.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/07/2023 12:59

Yes John Simms is the confectioner who they have been trying to catch for years
