I don't actually think she thought the comment through.

unvillage · 17/02/2024 23:34

No, she clearly wasn't blaming him for not being there, she was babbling and trying to justify it. She's grieving too plus feeling the guilt for taking her eye off him. Had he ever absconded like that before? I don't remember him doing so. Duffy spent a long time absconding all the time before dying similarly.

More twists and turns than a roller coaster, 🎢 really enjoyed tonight's episode.

unvillage · 17/02/2024 23:38

As for Stevie, the UDA killed hundreds of Irish Catholics at random, as "retaliation" for IRA attacks, in the 70s, 80s and 90s. We don't know much about Stevie's past apart from her sister's death. Was she affected by UDA attacks?

Probably judging from tonight's episode

It was a gripping episode.

Rash is going to blame Rida, and she is going to be overwhelmed with guilt. Ashok's death however has freed Rash to aim to progress in his career.

Good to see Joe McGann! I wasn't sure which one it was to begin with! Would have been ironic if it had been Paul!

There are about 4 McGann siblings, knew it was one of them, was confident only that it wasn't Paul! The photo of them all together, my god!

There were lots of murders on both sides, UDA/UVF and IRA. Wouldn't be surprising if Stevie had a traumatic past.

Anyone growing up in NI from the 1960s to the 1990s is likely to have a tale to tell.

They are all very alike!

purpleme12 · 17/02/2024 23:48

I've just looked up photo of them now they really do all look the same don't they!

spiderlight · 18/02/2024 00:03

I was sure it was the same one who'd been in Holby. They are practically identical!

Why on earth didn't Rida call the police as soon as Ashok went missing? There's going to be some major fallout there.

I'm being weirded out by the clash of BBC dramas here with Ian Craig from The Archers showing up in ED Grin

Pretending his name is Adam, too. Lack of imagination there.

I wonder if something happened in real life to the actor who played Ashok. He wasn't really in last nights, just sat in the chair and then we didn't actually see his face when he was brought in (I don't think anyway)

Yes I assumed they used a different actor in the hospital scenes because they didn't show him

purpleme12 · 18/02/2024 10:36

I think it was him in last night's episode

purpleme12 · 18/02/2024 11:11

Just been looking up Ashok and realised the actor is in This is England! I see it now!
This is one of my favourite films and series

It was him sat in the chair but that footage could have been from any time. They never showed him being brought in or on the bed

AGoodDayForSomebodyElseToDie · 18/02/2024 12:30

On a more trivia note, I felt for Cam in last night’s episode, but I’m not sure the ED can cope with two lovesick puppies wandering around, given the whole “Iain do you still love Faith” ongoing storyline.

They can both do better.

The Rash / Ashok / Rida storyline is horrific. Poor Rash.

I found an ancient episode of Casualty on Drama yesterday (ironically, while stuck on the sofa icing my foot after a stupid accident and trying to decide whether to go to A&E). It was the iconic one where Josh is called to the house fire that kills his entire family, but there were two other patient storylines as well, both quite involved, and very little focus on staff shenanigans. The department was all terribly beige and some of the acting was a bit Acorn Antiques, but it felt as if they packed a lot more into the episode and it was much better seeing the patient stories develop, rather than just being presented with them on a trolley.

On this, Casualty is definitely focused on the staff and not the patient storyline. Patient storyline are now just for staff character development.

Take last night- the boy with the dog bite. Not really much made of it - no real follow through except to indicate a possible advancement in Paidge's career.

Someone in a previous thread mentioned a lot of long running series do this (end up focusing on the main characters) when they are coming to a end. (Pretty sure they cited The Bill as am example.)

Ohh ....they can't be thinking of getting rid of Casualty 😞!

I didn't realise how much I had been missing Holby till Darwin Ward was mentioned to the new nurse wanting extra shifts 😅!

I literally did a little "ahhh" out loud knowing it still existed 😅🤣🤣!!

note to self ....get a life 🤣🤣🤣

mayorofcasterbridge · 18/02/2024 15:07

They had better not axe Casualty! I still really miss Holby. Was the same as you @bizzey when they mentioned Darwin!!

Kiwano · 18/02/2024 17:53

I wondered if they are building up to some sort of a climax on 16th March when I think they said Stevie has to go off on some stupid course. Josie is presumably likely to be off then having a kidney taken out (or not, I'm suspecting something will happen to stop that), Max will be out of commission. I feel there are loose ends with the family of the bridegroom who died last week who won't be satisfied with the Trust dismissing their complaints, so maybe they'll come after Stevie and get Charlie in her absence.

spiderlight · 19/02/2024 12:17

I really miss Holby too - I'd love the occasional cameo like they did with Sacha when Robyn died.

JanBlue · 21/02/2024 07:21

I still get that feeling I’ve forgotten to do something on a Tuesday.
