Can anyone recommend any tv series like the office (us) and schitts creek please?

Desperately in need of light-hearted but good viewing!

I have Amazon prime, Netflix and sky.

(Not a fan of shows with the audience laughing in (if that makes sense!), friends, big bang etc.)

Thank you!!

I would add Abbott Elementary

It's always sunny, Community, Vice Principals

FirstFallopians · 17/02/2023 00:32

Parks and Rec’s showrunner came from the US Office- very similar vibe.

DH and I watch them on rotation.

artishard · 17/02/2023 00:34

Freaks and Geeks for a more vintage shout 😊

artishard · 17/02/2023 00:35

Also Barry and Silicone Valley (last post I promise!)

Thank you so much - quite a few here I haven't even heard of!

I've watched motherland which I LOVE and cuckoo.

Struggled to get into Brooklyn 99 and new girl but I probably didn't give them enough of a chance!

Without a doubt Parks and Rec. I was so gutted when we finished it all.

Superstore is also very good. Both v similar in tone to SC and The Office.

@ShirleyValentin3

I think parks and Rec will be my next watch!

When I finished the office I felt lost 😂 quickly went on to schitts creek which I equally now feel lost without 😂

Ooh sign up for the three month free trial for Apple TV and watch Ted Lasso. Very much the same big heart feeling of US Office and Schitts Creek.
Also Parks and Rec, it's a delight!

I was just about to say the same thing. Ted Lasso has helped lift me up when some things in my personal life have been really awful recently. And new episodes are coming next month too. I can't wait!

Just a word of warning - I didn't find Parks and Rec half as funny as the office. It's still a good watch and there are funny bits but I feel it's more about the storyline.

Have you watched the UK office?

There's a old uk series with Ricky Gervais called Extras which is hilarious.

wherearetheturtles · 17/02/2023 08:53

I also really enjoy episodes of Rob and Romesh vs - not sure where they can be watched though?

Also Romantic Getaway with Katherine Ryan and Romesh Ranganathan.

TeaAndStrumpets · 17/02/2023 08:57

We enjoyed Kim's Convenience (netflix)

DysonBison · 17/02/2023 08:58

Parks and Rec is like televisual tea and toast. It now goes on automatically when anyone in the family is feeling stressed/miserable/heartbroken/etc.

It's basically well-intentioned people being wry, amusing and quirky. I've just realised, writing this, that it's basically what Northern Exposure was doing twenty years previously.
