Thanks @Blondeshavemorefun - it's good!

Couldn't wait so I just watched episode 1. It was made in 2017! How on earth did I miss it first time around?

Loved Corrine - what a great example to her children, running her own business, but where is the dad/dads? Hopefully by now some of the talented young footballers are earning good money!

I liked the Kellys on their farm. Both working, building on their own land, reminded me a little bit of the Yorkshire Farm with the Owen family.

Clive & Louise I didn't warm to, Clive reminded me of Noel Radford, a lazy sod thinking more children is always better. And like the Radfords, the actual children don't want any more babies! Agree with PP that the age difference set alarm bells ringing. I felt sorry for Louise, she never sat down, all that housework plus her cleaning jobs. I hope her heart surgery went well.

Episode 2 has a 26 year age difference - OMG I'm already hoicking up my judgy pants.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2023 20:51

Wow 2017. How did I miss that when it was on

I find it crazy that they do things like big birthdays when they’re struggling for money.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2023 21:34

Tho seemed sad in e1 that the baby had her first birthday for budget of £5

Yes I know they don't know

But seemed sad

Why have a 4th child if in a 3 bed house and 3 sharing a room and can't afford another child

Episode 2 - good to see the interesting stuff like them trying to budget, all the washing, cooking etc.

Felt so sorry for the Cornwall mum who'd lost her leg due to clots after her final pregnancy. Just goes to show that every pregnancy is a health risk.

Judgy pants not pulled up too high on realisation that the huge age gap family consisted of the mum & her 7 kids before she & this dad got together. But I do judge them for having another baby.

Triplets family genuinely didn't want that many, interesting to hear them being very open about getting free stuff due to putting the kids on social media.

blubberball · 24/01/2023 15:53

Disappointed to see the family breeding and selling rabbits and guinea pigs to make money.

WarrickDavisAsPlates · 24/01/2023 16:24

I've only just started episode one.

So far, I think Corrine is fabulous, she seems to be instilling a good work ethic in her kids and they all seem very respectful and nice kids. For 7 children that house doesn't look that chaotic. I also like that they've shown her kids doing extra activities like the football training and the older daughter helping in the shop and applying to uni.

I do hate when the parents in these families say thing like "we don't go on holiday" as if that's how they afford to have a large family, a two week holiday for a family of four surely won't cost as much as raising ten kids for a year.

I've only got three kids although if I had more money and wasn't menopausal I'd have loved to have more. I just can't see how Clive and Louise (I think was their names) can afford to rent two conjoined houses, feed 10 kids, run two cars and pay bills on the salary of one adult working 4 days a week on a cleaners salary.

Limer · 24/01/2023 17:22

Yes, the theme of this series seems to be (lack of) money. Every few minutes the narrator comes out with "the average British family spends......" compared to what the huge family are spending. I'd like to see an actual balance sheet per family, where does their money come from and what do they spend per month.

Episode 3 - supersperm dad - yuk!!! The Mormon single mum seemed lovely - but OMG she's mad to be homeschooling too! And once again, where's the dad(s)? The Londoners who moved to Kent were a bit boring but I'm glad their move went well, good idea to move to a cheaper area.

Towntroubadour · 24/01/2023 17:52

I’m shocked when they talk about the cost of holidays. They’re so expensive now compared to when this was filmed. I also laughed at the suggestion the Kent coast was cheaper.

There was a lot of emphasis on budgeting and struggling for money and meanly I kept thinking “well if you’d not had all those kids”.

The Mormon lady homeschooling seemed nice but must be crackers to home school. How on earth can you home school 7 people?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2023 19:29

Seen e2 and felt for the mum who lost her leg due to blood clots

I've had a blood clot that went from leg to lung

And I'm one legged at the moment due to leg in plaster - but obv it's not forever

Why judge them for having another baby, I'm interested because DH and I had 10 between us ( 9 living here full time) and then we had our twins together.
That said we're not on TV claiming to be skint, we budget and live within our salaries.
We don't go on holidays except for wild camping which cost us very little.
I can't pretend that we are loaded but our kids don't do without and are happy and healthy.
I do wonder if what they are claiming is how they really feel or just saying it from being coached by the producers to fit the narrative of the series.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2023 21:08

I guess it’s ‘good’ tv

I see it on rich kids swap a lot - they meet / both have kids and struggling. Then have a joint child

so struggle even more

@MaryBerrysCamelToe you sounds like aren’t struggling when decided to have 2 more

was it a shock when twins naturally or ivf (nosey blondes)

the lady who had triplets naturally. That’s so rare

to have 2 eggs is obv non Identical twins ans happens lots / my friend has gb twins naturally

but to then have one split and identical twins and one ie triplets naturally is rare

It was natural, it was actually a triplet pregnancy, 3 separate eggs but we lost one at 14 weeks. Was a massive shock- DH and I drove home from that first scan in silence, completely stunned 🤣
Wouldn't change a thing now, they are absolutely sweet sweet babies.
I'm back to work next month part time and then full time in April, so I'm really nervous about leaving them at nursery so tiny, but needs must.
I love my job so it's not so bad.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/01/2023 07:10

Oh wow. Sorry to hear that you lost one baby ((hug))

You are rare as well then. Esp 3 eggs. That very very rare

Sure they will be fine at nursery

I think that I have finished the whole series now. The best family was definitely the single mum in North London I think. They all seemed very driven to better themselves and their situation, and worked extremely hard.

As the series went on, I was finding the families less likeable for some reason.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/01/2023 18:31

I'm on e3

Average family does 10 loads of washing a week

Do they ?

I do 3 sometimes 4

Whites bedding
Towels darks
Dd stuff mainly pink

And odd other wash so def not 10

And this family does 35 loads a week

How the hell can you wash so much

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 25/01/2023 18:50

What happened to the dad of single mum

he can’t just bugger off tho know obv dads do

why on earth would anyone want to home school, let alone 7 kids

and swimming 3 times a week , that’s impressive

OP posts:
MaryBerrysCamelToe · 25/01/2023 23:38

This is a crazy amount of washing, I have 10 kids here, plus me and DH and I do probably 14-18 loads per week as I do 2 loads per day, sometimes 3. That includes towels, bedding and sometimes extras like bath mats, rugby kits etc.

I don't understand how they do so much.
Unless they all wear a fresh set of clothes/ pyjamas every 24hours ? May be shot here but I make my kids wear school uniform/ pyjamas/ play clothes for 2/3 day before I will wash it, unless it is visibly dirty.
Underwear- socks of course are changed daily.
Bedding gets done every 10ish days to fit around my work but I've kept it that way while I'm on Mat leave.
It just seems like such an excessive amount.

The milk consumption also seems crazy- 12 pints of milk a day? We get through 6, that's for cereal, teas and coffees plus sometimes kids will have a glass of milk.

It really baffles me.

I just got on to episode 4 and am horrified by the blonde mum saying "Martin didn't want me to breast feed as he didn't want it to affect our sex life. He wanted them back to fun bags again not milk bags"... how gross.

RichardOsmansXraySpecs · 27/01/2023 11:41

Omg Warrick I was coming here to say the exact same thing! Stupid stupid woman and disgusting man.
