Bet she told the hospital crew not to cut her boots off, I know how much long riding boots cost 😂

She did! Luckily it zipped up the back and they were able to take it off intact. Her ankle was broken through both bones and is now full of metal rods.

Trinity65 · 03/01/2023 22:08

Only caught from when the foot had been replaced
That Lady and her Husband though :( Tears Central.

Trinity65 · 03/01/2023 22:09

Re Positioned rather.

On +1, foot Envy

I always hate it when end of life care is spoken about to the next of kin right next to the patient, especially when they appear to hear what is happening. Poor lady :(

That ankle! I missed the very start but if all she did was lash out when they were removing her shoe she was very restrained!

Ahh that’s good. I rode once in a brand new hat and boots. I remember saying to myself don’t you bloody fall off this has just cost you a small fortune 😂

^^ Absolutely this! Aren’t there rules about this sort of thing?

Lolly86 · 03/01/2023 22:31

Is this ch4 tonight?

LIZS · 03/01/2023 22:32

Sad John and Florence

TheLostNights · 03/01/2023 22:38

I really wish they would put patients to sleep when slotting back in joints due to dislocation. It is so inhumane watching the utter agony these poor people go through. I can't physically watch it as it makes me feel sick with fear and upset on their behalf.

Masterblasterjammin · 03/01/2023 22:46

Putting someone ‘to sleep’ safely takes time, time that a limb threatening injury might not have, and also has quite significant risks - as someone who has had dislocations and also been the one reducing them, it’s really not worth it.

They should normally have something like Penthrox or conscious sedation for pain relief, which also leaves most people completely unable to remember what happened.

It’s not inhumane, it’s a matter of safety and efficiency.

TheLostNights · 03/01/2023 22:53

It obviously needs to be done but the level of pain they go through terrifies me even if they don't remember it afterwards. It's horrific to watch.
I wish they could find a more humane way of making it more comfortable.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/01/2023 22:56

I thought they usually used Ketamine for fracture reduction.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/01/2023 23:04

I think they were using the 'Green Whistles' at one point

Cocolapew · 03/01/2023 23:06

They did put her to sleep though, the ketamine was for pain relief then she was knocked out.

GodspeedJune · 04/01/2023 00:07

They should normally have something like Penthrox or conscious sedation for pain relief, which also leaves most people completely unable to remember what happened.

Going slightly off topic but I don’t see how inducing amnesia is any more humane? It doesn’t change the pain the person felt at the moment of the procedure.

AnotherNameChangeYes · 04/01/2023 21:49

Just catching up.

So lovely they caught the ducks on camera!

That ankle was something else. I liked the Sister saying that she just wanted to run a tea shop and serve cake. We all do.

Bagpuss2022 · 05/01/2023 13:28

So sad poor Florence that foot almost made me throw up

Toddlerteaplease · 05/01/2023 16:47

Just catching up. Why on earth wasn't that a pre alerted trauma call!

Toddlerteaplease · 05/01/2023 17:15

There is a river at the back of the hospital, with loads of ducks. You have to. Be careful driving on the road at the back because of them. When the patients are going a bit stir crazy, we'd give them some bread and send them out to feed the ducks. Except you shouldn't feed them bread. Will
Have to invest in some duck food!

Exactly! Why was it flapping about and not immobilised. Why were the paramedics seemingly oblivious to the seriousness of the situation and why didn't any of the staff shout 'why the fuck didn't you tell us to put out a trauma call!'.
Meanwhile the sister is chatting away in another scene about her divorce, not the obvious and more relevant need for serious training of ambulance staff.

Carriemac · 06/01/2023 10:24

You have to remember it's heavily edited , and not shown in 'sequence ' theta nurse has plenty to say about the ambulance/ staffing / funding crisis but they chose to show the personal stuff .
That's one of the busiest EDs in Europe

Toddlerteaplease · 03/01/2023 21:39

This was filmed in my hospital. I have t lived down my appearance on 'Hospital' so glad I'm not on this. My colleague thinks she may be on it. And is mortified as apparently she spent ages staring at the camera trying to work out what it was. 😂😂😂

🤣🤣
But would they not have to obtain signed consents from people before filming and airing them on TV?

Toddlerteaplease · 08/01/2023 20:26

@usedtolovenaps they did. They came after her to do it!

Toddlerteaplease · 08/01/2023 20:27

They said they wanted to run the story she was involved with. But my colleague did realise that the patient and parents were already miked up until afterwards!
