I went to see it live yesterday. It was great fun. We're going to make it an annual tradition now.

I've always wanted to see if live - it's on my wish list but knowing my luck I'd get tickets for RVB or JW.

We have local exhibitions and most of the top players have been over the years. I'm afraid he might as well not have been there - no interaction with the crowd and stood in a corner most of the time. If you're not happy to play along at something like this, don't accept the appearance fee.
As for the other one, needless to say he will never be asked back.

Who's your fancy for the title @JaneJeffer ? I think MVG has been ominously good of late.

Only just spotted the thread. We went to the daytime session yesterday, our first time, it was great. The "nearly 9-darter" from Van Duijvenbode was a highlight, that game was by far the best of the session.

I have never been a fan of James Wade, but he lives fairly locally to us and is doing good work in the community and for bipolar awareness, so I've warmed to him a bit.

I have no idea @RaraRachael. I'm not a fan of vanGerwin but if he's playing well he'll be hard to beat. He can let his game drop sometimes though.

I like Ryan Searle. It would be lovely if someone random won.

Yes it would be good to see somebody different - as long as it isn't RVB, I'll be happy.

What's he like? He's always so nice on tv (if a little self deprecating and ignoring the time he went on one about Stephen Bunting/decided to retire after the premier league nights in The Netherlands....)

Josh Rock so far has been decent but I think it's MVG's to lose.

@Spenn complete arse. Begrudgingly got photos taken with fans then buggeed off before the event finished which was meant to culminate with him playing MVG. He was left hanging around as nobody knew where RVB was.

Really enjoyed the Soutar/Noppert game yesterday. Only made it back in time for the last 3 games of Smith and van Divingboard this afternoon but that must have been some game.

It was a great match. Smith is a bit of a strange one but he was very gracious in defeat.

I thought Smith was Luke Woodhouse when I first came in - all these young guys with beards look the same to me 😅

Cracking game between Smith and Van Duijvenbode - we were supporting Dirk because he played so well when we were there last week. We are not watching all of them but keeping an eye on the scores using an app and if it looks to be even we are tuning in. We were going to watch a film last night instead but paused it after the first set between MVG and Mensur after checking the app and we were glad we did, what a match - we saw Mensur last week too. Part and Mardle were on top form in the commentary box too.
